Brought my mower in as it would not start! They serviced it, cleans the carburetor, change the spark plug, change the air filter, replaced a faulty primer bulb. They also sharpen the blade and cleaned my lawnmower. It looks practically new, and runs great! All of this for a reasonable price in my opinion. The owner recommended I run only mid grade gas, specifically 76 brand as he said it's the best you can get in California. Higher octane with less ethanol which will gum up your mower engine! I am SO happy I discovered Daniel and Clovis Mower Service. I took my 20 year Trimmer mower which suddenly stopped running over to Jensen and Pilegard two weeks ago. I went back one week later to check on it, because I hadn't heard anything. They hadn't even looked at it yet, so I took it back. Then I did a Yelp search, and discovered Clovis Mower Service. Daniel was able to rehab this wonderful old mower, and make it run like new again. And, he did it in two days! He identified several things that were broken, cracked, or needed replacing, such as wheel bearings, belts, cracked frame. His prices are extremely reasonable. He has a good work ethic, and obviously places a high value on doing quality work. I will never take my lawn equipment anywhere else for servicing. They moved from a known location near old town. were there for many years. i guess the city wanted the land for other use . this location isn't the easiest to find and a bit cramped but they seem content . dropped a chainsaw off on a tuesday , needed it friday afternoon . they did a rush job and called wed saying it was ready . great service fair price . just plain folks and fair treatment . read more

Tried Clovis Mower Service after getting fed up with the lousy service from Nelson's Power Center in Selma. Took a old Trimmer mower that was sitting around for years at my dads. Daniel did a great job serving the engine, replacing a chain, and sharpening the blades at a reasonable cost. Best of all he did it in 2 days. Not the 2-3 months told by Nelson's. Daniel did a fabulous job tuning up my Honda mower. The blades were sharpened, air filter cleaned, and spark plug changed. More importantly, he tuned up my Mantis tiller. It needed a new fuel filter, spark plug, bulb, and carburetor. I just got done tilling the back garden and it worked like a champ. Perfect idle and great acceleration. read more

I had a pressure washer and weed trimmer in my tool shed idle for a few years. Both machines had not been started in at least five years. I finally decided to put them to use on a few small jobs around the house. Neither machine would start let alone even spark up. Tried for hours and no luck. Based on reviews I decided to take it here on a Saturday. Received a call on Tuesday that both machines were done and ready to be picked up. Results: pressure washer fired up on the first pull. Even when it was new it never started on first pull; weed trimmer started on second pull and normally it would need to run for a minute or more with choke on before you could use it. Ran like new immediately. The charges were reasonable and based on the end results I got quite a deal. I only wish he worked on cars too! read more

I took my lawn edger in for an oil change and a welding repair of a cracked drive belt cover. The edger ran excellent when I took in. The mechanic did a whole service, and that's okay, but I didn't ask for it. When I got the bill, it was $131. Then they voluntarily knocked it down to $80. So I paid them the money and left. I doubt my 20-year old edger is even worth $80 bucks. Got to be specific with them when you ask them for maintenance. Ask for an estimate before you drop off your equipment. Otherwise, it appears like a friendly family business. read more

They helped me a lot when my 15+ yr old weedwacker stopped working. I called, described the situation & they gave me a quote over the phone for possible carburetor replacement then let me talk to the lead mechanic who had me bring in it to look at. They didn't charge me anything for an inspection despite the fact I didn't have an appointment, they were busy & had 2 weeks backlog of repairs at the time. They correctly identified the problem (clogged carburetor), recommended I fix it myself to save time/money, explained how to do it, why it clogged & ways I might prevent this in the future. They were very generous with their time & knowledge & saved me a bunch of money. I had a very pleasant experience today at Clovis Mower Service. I brought my gas lawn edger in for a blade replacement. Daniel explained that he recommends the 4 edge blade over the 2 edge blade because it is made out of much better quality steel like they use to manufacture lawn mower blades. He said it would last much longer than the 2 sided blades and that I would be much happier with it. He only charged me $7 for the blade and installed it for free. Then he started up the edger and listened to the engine for a little bit and he said it was running smooth and strong. He also recommended that I only use mid or premium grade gasoline from Standard or Shell. He said he noticed many more carburetor problems when his customers got regular grade gasoline for Valero, Bad Buds or Costco, etc. He said the cost of the premium gasoline will more than offset the cost of future repair costs. I can't ask for better customer service than that. I normally don't give out 5 star ratings for expected good service and prices. I reserve 5 stars for those who go way over and beyond what is expected. Daniel and his shop definitely deserve my 5 star rating. I will definitely be bringing all of my edger, mower and cultivators to him for any service needs in the future. read more

I bought an old Mclane reel mower that needed some fixing up and brought it to Clovis mower. They sharpened the blade, rebuilt the carberator, and replaced a belt, they even cleaned it. now it works like new! read more

I've been taking my mowers to Clovis Mower service about 10 years. The top-notch no-nonsense mechanics there kept my old Sears Craftsman mower alive until it threw a rod, or piston. I didn't take it apart to look. But the little engine was dead. So I bought a Troy Bilt at Lowe's. Then it started running rough by the second year. Carb problems, something that would plague me. Turns out when gas ages, it starts to break down. We don't use the fuel fast enough and a shellac layer settles out. This may be due to the ethanol in fuel. Whatever. It's nasty. I use a stabilizer, which seems only to prolong the problems if you continue to use your fuel too slowly. Clovis Mower gives the lecture. Use fresh gas. Go to Shell or Chevron, a station with a lower percentage in the fuel. This lastest trip came about a year, maybe longer than the second. I bring in the mower. I have a large lawn, mostly a semi wild back 40. And I put the mower through its paces. But they fix it. Charged me $85 even though they added a new shut-off cable. Sharpened the blade. Cleaned the carb. Cleaned it up. Made it run like new. And I figure it's got another year. Maybe more if I use supreme and be careful about using crappy gas. Clovis mower has also kept my 029 Stihl chainsaw going and I really beat the hell out of that. I've had it since the mid 1990s when we heated with wood on Camano Island, Wash. It's been well used. The company has a new address. It's 1261 Hoblitt Ave. It's just east of Clovis Avenue and south of Barstow Avenue in the community's industrial area. Daniel Luiz is the owner and has kept the business going about 30 years. Tracy Calvert is the chief mechanic and wizard. And Maryellen Aquila can be found handling the phone and giving advice.
