I was getting ready to buy Fortiflora for him after having him on a chicken and rice diet anyways... $153 for them to examine and then they're going to check poop for parasites.. which I know he doesn't have. $94 for the diagnostic exam, which was a quick hands on check for any obvious signs and then $49 for poop screen Then another $75 for Fortiflora and Metronidazole The metronidazole 500mg can be gotten online for $12, they charged me $42 Fortiflora is $34.99 at petco on sale for $30.00 and they charged me $43 Just crashing out over a waste of time. They were super kind and professional. Just doing their job. But if your dog isn't actually sick and just has diarrhea just get metronidazole and Fortiflora online and save yourself the diagnostics, poop exam, and overcharge on medicine especially some otc stuff. IF my pets were actually sick, I'd totally come back, just never seeing a vet over liquid poo ever again

One of the things I love about this office is that they have walk-in sick hours every weekday morning. This is huge, as there have been occasional concerns we've had about our cats, but this allowed us to avoid crazy emergency visit charges. We are also able to schedule out Saturday appointments, where we can both bring the cats (it can be a lot to get them in their carriers by yourself) if needed. Their appointments do fill up fast but their walk-in hours are a great option if you are in a bind. They are also great about refilling my one cat's meds and helping answer questions etc. The staff is always nice and helpful, and the place itself is always clean. We are very happy coming here.

I really appreciate their patience and attentiveness. I also appreciate how I can tell they aren't just trying to hit me with charges. My dog got bitten by another dog, it was mild. East end had me send them picture of the minor bite and gave their advice which in turn calmed me down because it reinforced what I should do and what to monitor prior to bringing him in. We ended up not brining him in because it was unnecessary. It saved me time and money. Really appreciate them!!! My dog will get neutered soon so I'll have more of an update then.

From routine physicals to a few emergency visits, the staff, from front desk to the veterinarians, have been so accommodating and calming for our pup! They recently purchased the entire building that they are in and expanded their facility to have more space for the waiting area and for medical equipment. They routinely have new technicians and vets, including a seemingly routine amount of new graduates. The only reason that I'd take a way a star is that they recently installed new dental equipment to clean and pull pets teeth when they are unconscious. The rub was... for two years of visits... they pushed this service unreasonably aggressive. The first time... the vet that we were randomly assigned.. said that our dog's teeth were a major risk and tried to hand us a business card about the new dental procedure. As she reached in the drawer, the entire stock of cards was gone to her surprise. Needless to say, nothing has happened with his teeth and we never went back to Becky Ortiz VMD. We started requesting a specific veterinarian since then... and Ann Berner DVM has been amazing to our now senior pup.

Nine times out of 10, visiting a Veterinary Hospital is not an exciting visit to make. Today was no…read moreexception. My little pretty kitty Mitzi has been losing weight steadily over the past several months and during her last visit to her regular vet (Bloomfield Cat Clinic), the Dr. thought he may have felt a swelling in her abdomen. He recommended an ultrasound at one of many local vet hospitals. I called around to several and either found little availability, or an expense that seemed to be off the charts - until I happened upon the Allegheny North Veterinary Hospital courtesy of my good friend Google. The women who answered the phone was kind, quick and helpful, unlikely a few of the others I called, who could barely muster an estimate for the procedure and seemed put off at the question all together. She apologized that the doctor was due out of town for a few days, but was nice enough to get me in as soon as possible upon his return. Off we went this morning and were greeted by the same woman +1, and the same level of kindness and service. Dr. Gaiser gave Mitzi a full exam and agreed that he felt a swelling. He took her swiftly into the adjoining room for an ultrasound, where she emerged 30 minutes later. He brought me in a short time later and took me through the results step by step. It didn't hurt that Dr. Gaiser is a dead ringer for a [much younger version of] Tom from Cougar Town, and his bedside manner was stellar, especially given that the news wasn't great. As we wrapped up the appointment I inquired about a particular type of food I saw for sale in the waiting room. The same food my vet sells for $4.25/can was a mere $2.25/can at Allegheny North. With the purchase of four cans plus an ultrasound, full exam and biopsy of Mitzi's liver, my bill came in under $400. PLUS, they take Pet Assure, which is a discount program you can usually get through Living Social that pays for itself in one visit. All in all, 5 stars for service, 5 stars for expertise and 5 stars for price. I'd rather not go back to a veterinary hospital (for obvious reasons), but if I must, Allegheny North is where I'll go.

The vet said our cat's teeth were fine and to "monitor" them. This year we took our cat back and the vet says they need ALL of their canines removed! And quoted over $1000! We called around to get other estimates and are going to North Boro instead for half of the price and they advised our cat had missing teeth as well, which this vet never told us. Be sure to advocate for your pet and avoid this negligence. Two stars for them being very friendly at the beginning.

What a difference - wow! The receptionists at Point Breeze VC were very pleasant from my first call. They got me scheduled at a reasonable time with Dr. Berger from when I called, then got me in much sooner from the waiting list with Dr. Simard. Just for the record, Dr. Berger is actually Dr. Gerson's daughter and recently fully took over the clinic because Dr. Gerson fully retired. Dr. Simard was absolutely fabulous. First, she introduced herself by her first name, which really impressed me, and was super friendly. I loved the tech, too, whose name I have unfortunately forgotten, but she was Mexican and I speak semi-fluent Spanish, which a visit to Mexico as a child had influenced me to study, so I have a soft spot in my heart for the country and its people. I don't get much chance to use my Spanish in Pittsburgh, so we were both delighted. Her accents might be a little hard for some people to understand, but that in no way affects the quality of her care. Dr. Simard is clearly a native speaker of French, but her English is flawless, with only the slightest trace of an accent. I don't know if any other language is available there or not. Both were incredibly efficient and gentle with Romeo, and treated him like he was their own, giving him treats including Easy Cheese. He had a couple of minor issues which they took great care of. I was delighted, especially because his vet records from his previous owner had said he was afraid of stethoscopes, but he didn't show the slightest concern with either of these ladies, just snuggled up to both. Dr. Simard also treated me like a respected equal in Romeo's care, which of course is important, because that *is* what owners actually are. They showered me with all kinds of information about their services and emergency care, and gave me a new client and patient packet in a very nice reusable bag, including a folder with some helpful flyers - and a chart for tracking my dog's vaccines and care. They have a service for a modest price where you can call *after hours* and speak *with one of their vets* about any concern rather than *have* to go to an emergency clinic only to find out that you could have done the treatment yourself at home. They will, of course, tell you if you really should go to the emergency clinic, but could also save you a lot of money. They also give a substantial discount on flea and tick meds if you buy a 6 month supply. The entire place is spotlessly clean, which of course is critical in a veterinary hospital. They recently completely renovated it during the pandemic, so it's now bright and fresh. They are also up to date with modern technology, including text messaging, which makes the administrative things much easier and more efficient. Some reviews have said they're very expensive, but I was delighted to find it's the complete opposite. I called around for prices for neutering and a simple office visit - and this place was hands down the least expensive, literally *half* of what my former VCA vet now charges, at least for office visits. Their other charges are quite modest as well. Veterinary care *is* expensive these days; that's just how it is *everywhere.* Be aware that they do require up front payment when you schedule your first visit, but of course it's applied to your total bill once your pet is actually seen, and I think will be fully refunded should you cancel within their cancellation timeframe. It's fully wheelchair accessible (I think) except for the restroom. I didn't think to measure the doors. Parking is a real pain if you have a wheelchair van because of how the street itself and the curbs are, but even that is doable. I finally found a space several houses down on Reynolds around the bend towards Fifth Ave. This is obviously not PBVC's fault, just something to be aware of if you use a side-opening wheelchair van.

We…read moreknew we needed to put our cat to sleep and the vet hospital near us referred us to this location (since they were too busy to take anyone that evening). They greeted us at the door and escorted us to a room in the back. The room had chairs, blankets and they told us that if we wanted, they had drinks and snacks available. Once we were settled, they took the time to explain the process. Basically, we had as long as we needed (and could literally stay all night if we wanted to). They explained the various prices and options but weren't pushy in any way. They were as present (or non present) as you needed and wanted them to be (there was a buzzer you pressed when you needed anything). They brought in ink pads and paper so we could take paw prints of our dear Rocky and clippers and paw print keychains so we could clip some of his hair. They also clip hair and make a paw print as well (so you don't have to do it if you don't want to or in case you don't get a good one). We spent time saying our goodbyes and they give the option to be in the room when they pass or if we want to wait somewhere else. My kids did not want to be there when it happened, so they took us to another room and my husband stayed with Rocky. He passed peacefully in my husband's arms and then they took Rocky to get ready for the next steps. They didn't rush us out after the fact. they let us spend some time collecting ourselves and then were able to take us out a back door so we didn't have to walk through a waiting room full of animals. If you are ever in the unfortunate situation where you have to put a pet to sleep, this location and their staff were angels on earth. they really were as amazing as they could be for the situation we were in and we are so grateful for the compassionate care both Rocky and us received.
