The staff are cruel. My cats had lily poisoning and needed monitoring after their emergency ER visit, and I had just gotten out of the ER that same night. When I reached out to this place at the recommendation of the vet ER, the staff did not answer the phone until call number TWELVE. They ended up requesting I come inside to talk and the tech at the desk brought in the other tech and as I tried explaining my situation, the tech kept interrupting to speak over me or "explain" what I was saying to the other tech incorrectly. Then, when I apologized for my abruptness since I had just gotten out of the ER myself and had an hour of sleep, they LAUGHED IN MY FACE. As I continued to try to explain my situation they literally had no idea what I was referring to, they were unfamiliar with networks, emergency services, or even our cats after the ER faxed them the info. They KEPT laughing at me when I asked if they knew any other vet we could see if they were unwilling to help. These people are HEARTLESS AND CRUEL. do NOT go here! read more

Dr. Shepherd is an example of a true Dr., Veterinarian and animal lover. He takes care of all my Lhasa Apsos and their puppies. My Pets do wonderful after each surgery. He lovingly adores the little puppies with their first shots. Everyone is always so kind to me and my lovin Lhasa's He also has an animal refuge with Lions, Wolves, etc. I highly recommend Dr Shephard for all animal care. read more

For starters, Dr. Sheperd is THE BEST veterinarian in Fayette County - that's why he's so busy. He has a huge heart for animals, because those are his patients, *not* the humans who bring them in. Even though he's not an emergency practice, he never says no if you bring in your pet due to an emergency. He also accepts strays and abused animals that people find, or that law enforcement confiscates. He runs a full surgical practice, and has his own small hospital for pets who need 24-hr observation after surgery or for other reasons. He also runs the Wildlife Conservancy near Rowes Run, which takes over the care of the exotic wild animals - such as tigers - that area people think they can handle but can't. Also, being a country vet, Dr. Sheperd is available to local farmers for house calls to see their farm animals, which can't be brought to the office. In a word, he's a busy man. Despite that, he's never, for even a moment, copped an attitude with me or anyone I personally know. He's never acted like he's better than anyone. When I tell him my cats and I saw him on the news, and how my cats get afraid when they hear his voice in our home, he laughs, it doesn't bruise his ego. When I became disabled, he understood that my income changed, but my one cat's health problems didn't, and he's been great in helping me find affordable options for taking care of a very important pet. He knows my pets' personalities, remembers their sensitivities, and gives me great advice for their at-home care. Have I sat in his waiting room for a while after our appointment was scheduled? Sure I have, but I've done that for my *own* doctors, too! And they aren't nearly as busy as Dr. Sheperd. I spend the time chatting with the other humans in the waiting room, or if my cat's not feeling up to sharing the room with a bunch of big, noisy dogs, we stay in our vehicle, and I find things to do there - I always bring my device so I have games and stuff, just in case. There have been times when we were the emergency that caused everyone else to wait, so I don't begrudge others their time with the doctor. His staff are there to work with animals, mostly because they are easier to get along with than humans. I treat them as the professionals they are, and they've become very nice to me and my cats. For as busy as he is, Dr. Sheperd isn't getting rich off this practice. The Wildlife Conservancy runs on donations, and Fayette County being so poor (and he does so much charity work), he's comfortable, but he's not at all making what he would if he was working in a more suburban area, or even just a more wealthy county. But he's dedicated to this area, and our animals. It pains me to see his practice maligned by impatient people, when I know this is one of the gems of this county, hands down. But the true testament to the value of Camelot comes not from me, but from their actual patients, my cats. I've tried taking them to other vets whose offices are a little bit closer to our home, or who charge a little less for shots, and my cats crouch, hiss, even swipe at them! They might get grouchy with Dr. Sheperd, but they're more likely to try to talk to him than hiss at him. THEY don't want to see anyone else. read more

Awful! Took a older pup in for an infection. Dr. Shepherd was so high that he kept falling asleep during our visit! Gave our pup a shot and hit a nerve in his shoulder, he had a hard time walking ever since. $300 later we came out with an injured pup (worse than he went in)! Will not recommend to anyone! read more

Dr, Shepard is the absolute best in his business. After I moved from PA to Arizona I called him for his expertise about 2 of my cats...not only did he give me valuable advice but he even called me back to see how they were doing! The vet I had here in AZ didn't even do that! I don't miss much since leaving PA but I do miss him...sure wish he would leave the cold and move here!!! read more

Dr. Shepard is a world class vet! He cares for every animal the same. Whether it's my old adopted alley cat or a show dog or even large wild animals. We are so blessed that he chose to stay here in our area after attending school. He is such a quiet caring man. Believe me should you have to wait for an appt. it's well worth it. Of course emergency cases must be taken care of first and not knowing what is coming in the door just makes it more interesting. The staff are also kind and caring. read more

I have taken all 3 of my dogs to camelot and i can say this is the only place i will ever take my animals again! Dr. shepherd is an amazing vet! My dogs love him and my dogs don't like anyone. He is very straightforward and if he can't help you he will direct you to someone who can! He is very sympathetic to peoples monetary problems as well as to their emotional attachments to their animals.I often times have to wait past my appointment times but it goes by which animals need it first. If there is an emergency and i'm only there because my dog needs a regular check up i don't mind him helping the more important problem first. I would wait days for the quality vet care i get a camelot!!! read more

This vet loves animals. Yes, maybe you have to wait a little because this vet takes time with you and your pet, but the time is NEVER unreasonable. He also does emergency calls and if you've ever had a sick pet, you appreciate a vet who doesn't tell you to find someone else. He took care of our sick kitty and was wonderful. I would highly recommend this vet for his skill and his true love of animals of all varieties. read more

I waited 2 and a half hours past my appointment time, then the lady in front of me decided to let the man behind me go first because he was unable to control is dog. I questioned the receptionist and was brushed off. I was furious at this point and decided to leave after wasting my day. The office is located down a rutted out muddy gravel road and my requests to speak to the owner after this incident where ignored. Do yourself a favor and go to Dr. Hyde in Point Marion there always on time within a half hour and if a problem dog/owner is there they are put in a waiting room to themselves. read more

I would give this 0 stars if I could. For one I waited 2 hours past my appointment time everytime I go there, I went there 2 times for sick ferrets which Petco helped me endlessly and they paid 200 dollars to get medicine and camelot did nothing to help. The girl on the phone when you call Camelot says your not paying for anything anyway because I was upset that my ferret is sick still and Petco couldn't pay anymore expenses. Camelot did nothing to help and barely looked at my ferrets. The vet constantly looks tired or "high" everytime I went there. Very rude staff and I just got told today to take my ferret somewhere else, the girl over the phone exact words were "take your ferrets to fairmont or cheat lake or Pittsburgh idk we can't do anything" because they don't want to help. Point of the story is, Camelot is a joke they never helped with my dog and now my ferret is still having problems. They did the same with my dog and told us to take him to Ohio? Why have your vet licenses and have people pay money and come there and you can't even help? I know Petco paid for it but in my opinion I think Petco should get there money back and Camelot should have a lawsuit. Honestly they was not even a little bit of help. The girl at Camelot wasn't even sympathetic she was rude and all she did was get smart when all I was trying to do was ask for different medicine. There a joke. Please don't waste your money. Go to Morgantown or go to geary in uniontown this was the worse experience. read more
