Such a beautiful place with so much history and so many things to do. I love Wiseguys for several reasons, but the biggest one is that it's primarily a place that the locals go. They're always friendly and I've never failed to strike up a conversation at the bar and make some new friends. The service is always on point and friendly as well. The food is traditional bar fare that's always high quality, plentiful, and delicious. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered, from apps, to wraps. The beer selection is very good with a lot of regional brews, and they also have a full bar. It's really become my go to place in LP.

Cocktail and beer selections are great. Five stars to the blood orange margarita. The bad: You can't make a reservation and the waitlist is frustrating sometimes. Parking is challenging. Also, atmosphere is typically loud making it hard to have a conversation. Overall, we like it for a quick bite and will definitely go back.

They have a limited drinks menu, but at least it's something. We are very happy for the overcast day, as we were not sweltering in the sun. There's a nice variety of things to do beyond bowling, including arcade games and batting/golf simulators, so it's easy to spend a few hours here with family or friends. Overall, a fun spot with good food, plenty of activities, and a welcoming atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for something to do in Lake Placid.

I recently stopped by Big Z in Lake Placid and tried their spicy chicken sandwich with fries…read more Overall, it was okay -- nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. The spicy chicken sandwich was pretty basic. I was expecting a little more kick, but the heat level was mild at best. The chicken itself was decent, but it didn't have that bold flavor or crispiness that makes you crave it again. It felt more like a standard chicken sandwich with a light seasoning rather than something truly "spicy." The fries were actually the highlight of the meal. They were hot, crispy, and seasoned well -- definitely better than the sandwich in my opinion. If I were to go back, it would probably be more for the fries than the main dish. The restaurant itself was nice and clean, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Staff seemed fine and everything looked well kept, which I definitely appreciate. However, the price of the food didn't quite match the flavor or overall experience. For what you pay, I was expecting something a bit more memorable.

One of the reasons we did come back was that the owner gave us a 50% off appetizer coupon being a new customer. After ordering our drinks, a big slide IPA for me and their version of a whiskey sour, we ordered our meal. We had asked for the small appetizer platter with mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, and onion rings. We also ordered an appetizer order of their bourbon sliders. What showed up was actually the large appetizer platter with everything on it and our bourbon sliders. I know we ordered the small platter but at least we only had to pay 50% of the large platter. Overall, it was not bad, just not good. The bourbon sliders were OK as well. Maybe it was us, maybe it was just that our bartender server seemed awfully overwhelmed? Whatever it was, it just wasn't the same as our first visit.

Their menu is loaded with all sorts of BBQ style food, as well as steaks and some seafood too. The décor is nice, cozy, and dimly lit. I started with their wings with the Ghost Pepper BBQ sauce on them - They were REALLY GOOD! Meaty wings, great crunch and smokey flavor and that BBQ sauce was so tasty! Next up was to try an order of their brisket nachos. They came out pretty quick and looked nice. They're definitely huge and I wasn't that hungry, so I really wanted to pick the good stuff, like the brisket and many of the toppings and that was all pretty good. The brisket I had was excellent! It had a nice bark and good smoke, yet was moist. Very nice experience, a place I'd definitely return to for another meal or even a drink at the bar!
