I've never sold clothes here so I can't speak to that experience. I do enjoy shopping here because everything is SO organized-by size, then color! I'm not a name brand girl so I don't pay attention to the variety of brands. I do purchase something every time I swing by. Follow their social media pages to find out whenever they're having a sale because it's definitely worth it. It's a small store but has a lot of women clothes and their shoe selection/variety is the best I've seen anywhere. The customer service reps were nice and gave me good and prompt service. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I brought in washed, folded, and brand new items just to wait 45 minutes before checking to see where they were because I never got a text. Turns out they didn't even go through the clothes because they have a "weird smells". First, that could've been done without the nasty attitude. Secondly, the store smells like mildew but maybe that's what they were smelling. Uptown cheapskate is much friendlier and had no complaints so wonder what the deal is. read more

Very reasonably priced used clothing store. The items are in very good condition with many of the items quality brands. If you go onto one of their social media pages, you'll be able to keep track when they have specials. The team working there are usually friendly and personable. I have never tried selling anything so I don't know how that system works. I have been in this location multiple times and will continue to do so. They wanted to give me 20.00 for a brand new with tags and wallet for a Dooney & Bourke big handbag thar was a 500.00 handbag. I was mortified and upset. NYT and the Blums should research who they hire. The Palm Harbor store gave 40.00 for a half bin of BRAND NEW SHOES and the manager and girl behind the counter were very nasty. Every pair of shoes were new but they claim there were closet rot on majority of them. I call BS because I inspected every pair before trying to sell them. However, they advised my sister to put the remaining pairs in the donation bin in the store but wouldn't give her a receipt for that. Im sure they would've put them on the rack to sell, otherwise a donation receipt would've been provided. I am glad I also see poor reviews here. I also brought in several "high end" name brands with tags on them. The staff did not accept them. So I stayed in the store and went through some of the items on the floor, old white shirts, not new and stylish looking clothes items. Selling clothes here 3/5: hit or miss, but nothing worse than when I try to sell my clothes anywhere else. Fact is, no one is going to pay what you want them to pay for your clothes, new or gently used. I will say: I usually have better luck selling my office clothes here. Buying clothes here 4/5: lots of good inventory; however sometimes you do have to wait for a better batch to come in. I normally look for office clothes, and I can always find Ann Taylor, Loft, and similar here. I have also found petite size pants. The only knock I have is the jewelry being a cheap quality and they charge a lot for rings that will turn your finger green. I shop for S/M shirts and size 8 pants; so someone who is plus size might have a different experience. Staff 5/5: always super helpful and nice. I have never felt like they are too busy to help me get something off a mannequin, or answer my questions. Overall not bad for an affordable chain consignment shop. read more

Staff here are so kind & helpful! Though the location isn't the most convenient off US-19, there is ample parking & the store is well laid out. Each time I've brought in items to sell, they have moved through them quick & efficiently so it definitely feels like my time was respected & my items were appreciated. They had at least 10 racks full of clothes 70% off outside so that scared me but I ended up selling 14 items (off brand bag, j crew dress, old navy tanks and dresses and more) made 48 cash/60 store credit! I popped into Clothes Mentor after getting a massage just down the way. I've been in once before, but it'd been a while so I thought I'd check to see what was going on now. They carry all sizes, including Plus, but their selection for anything over a large isn't huge. I looked through the racks and shrugged, I found a few things but it wasn't until I found the back wall that I was happy. On the back wall they had Lularoe items. Many of them were Unworn and new. I helped myself to 2 pair of new leggings at $10 a pair (vs $25 new) and a necklace which was marked $0.99 but came up $6.95, they corrected it, but that was still annoying. Over all, I'd come here again, but I wasn't terribly impressed. read more

HORRIBLE PLACE TO SELL ITEMS!! I don't think the store realizes it is a consignment shop... full of worn, used clothing. A number of my items were NEVER worn. The ones that had been worn were brought in cleaned (laundered or dry cleaned) and on hangers. I was asked to take everything off the hangers and put in a laundry basket (so much for steaming / pressing). I also brought in several pairs of shoes (Vince Camuto, Steve Madden & Carlos ~ ALL NEVER worn & less than a year old); they declined them. Once I got home and unzipped the carrier I provided for the unwanted items, everything was jumbled and crammed into it; not to mention, two little live roaches! GROSS. Like the others, I will definitely be warning people about this joke of a store. read more

I have been to this boutique many times since we moved to the area and I really love their stock of designer items for sale, especially purses. But today after going to sell some on my own designer purses, wallets and shoes, I'll never go back. I'll also tell everyone who I know or asks me about the place that it's a total rip off. I had a large MINT condition Michael Kors purse in with the other items. When I went to check out I asked how much they were offering and it totaled $33!!! Since being completely offended by that I've researched how much it's worth now. The average price is $141. That's offering a less then 1/4 of the price of its value! Although they are owned by the same company as Plato's Closet, Plato's is 100% better! Or go online to Poshmark, Mercari or EBay and don't go here to over pay or be underpaid if your selling. This store is such a joke. Looked at a brighton purse they tagged for $25. Looked inside still attached was a goodwill tag for 3.98. They advertise they buy designer items, yet I took a Louis Vuitton handbag I bought a month ago at a different Clothes Mentor and it had an authenticity certificate with it and the new owner refused to buy it. Maybe its because she spent over 100k buying the business and cant afford nice things to put in the store. I went to Clothes Mentor today in Palm Harbor. First time and I was greatly impressed with the size and organization in this resale store. Everyone was smiling and very helpful. I brought in about 20 items for review and was pleased with the cash offer for most of the items. This store also takes donations of your unpurchased items to donate to charity organizations that support women in need of appropriate workplace clothing. This is hands down the best re-sale store I've found for young professionals in the Tampa Bay Area. I live in Tampa, but I had a good experience with a Clothes Mentor in another city and I had some professional clothing Plato's Closet wouldn't take, so I planned a half day to drive out here. I made about $80 on my items and found some great designer steals. You have to dig like any other resale store, but the store is very clean and I found a lot of designer items with the tags still on. The used items I found were in top shape, you couldn't tell a lot of it had been worn before. They have a very active IG page and post pictures of designer purses and accessories and you can purchase on the phone. The employees were extremely friendly, patient, and helpful. I definitely plan to visit every couple of months to find affordable, fun pieces to add to my wardrobe. read more

I used to be able to find things in this store but in the past year or so I have purchased very little. Clothes are worn. It's hard to find a good selection. Sometimes I buy a purse. The other day I went in to sell two suits. They were in great condition and newer styles , freshly dry cleaned and barely worn. I was told they don't take suits. I said ...with a smile....oh darn cause these are so nice I thought for sure I finally had something you guys would take. Her reply was "oh not that style. We wouldn't ever take that style and plus it has s stain on it. Right here" and she pointed to a place on the suit. First -there is no stain. It was ridiculous. 2- why in the world would you insult my style and then accuse me of bringing in dirty clothes if you already told me you won't take suits?! It just blew me away. So I'm done with Clothes Mentor. It hasn't been good in awhile and they have never taken any of the good stuff I bring in and like other reviews say- they take cheap target and Walmart clothing. Despite the negative reviews from others, I've never had a bad experience at this location. I've never tried to sell anything to them, but as far as buying I have found great things. I'm not always successful, but they have a great selection of cute things. All the women that work there have always been very helpful and kind. Clothes Mentor are a little too big for their britches. They want $20 for a used pair of shoes from Nine West. Just so you know, I can get the shoes brand-new for $25 down the street at Ross. They were also selling a Merona dress, which is the Target brand, for $14. The dress is like $24 brand-new at Target. Some of the purses were over $100! I get that they are like new but they are still used and I can get them cheaper elsewhere. You definitely don't get a deal here as the stuff is almost retail price. Judgemental mean girl staff. the girls working there have an uncanny ability to make anyone feel like they are nothing. Very high school in feeling with the gossiping and smoking directly outside not to mention completely subjective judgements. I have never had good luck selling to this store. Either my clothes are not what they're looking for, or brand names they don't sell. I tried with a brand new ladies top from Target and they told me they did not purchase that name - only to see they had quite a few Faded Glory tops. That's a Walmart brand! Didn't quite understand that one. I was offered $5 for a brand new Calvin Klein suit set. $3 for a brand new Cole Haan bag. That's crazy to me. Their prices for bags are sometimes close to retail - and their staff has never been friendly. Never a hello or an offer to help. But when a regular comes in they practically close the store and become personal shoppers! I'd suggest a little more customer service and lose the snobby attitudes.
