Very disappointing. from a purchaser point of view I was insulted. Two of us stood in line to pay for clothing while laundry baskets of clothing were being accepted and processed. There were four staff behind the counter and not one of them would take our money to pay for our selections. We waited for ten minutes and left our potential purchases behind. I have never been to a store unwilling to accept payment. And the staff was rude about it too.!!!!The store is well organized and full of clothing. The dressing room personnel were courteous and professional. Something is very wrong, however. I won't go back and neither will the two other shoppers with me for this negative experience. read more

Don't try to sell in this store! I've been in this store several times to sell. My brands are mostly Ann Taylor, Talbots, and sometimes Alfani. I am a petite size. I call the store before selling because from past experience, when I just show up with my clothes, they say "oh we're not buying those yet". Now, for a store being located in "Naples", you would think, when you get in, it will look much nicer comparing to the one in Fort Myers. And it's located across the Mercato. No it does not. It looks like any other consignment store. I am very careful what to bring because I know the style have witching just the last couple of years. Almost all that I sell are offIce clothes and this recent visit, my clothes were barely used because I loss a lot of weight in the past year. They take 2 tops out of about 20 pieces I brought in. They priced for 5$ or a store credit of 7$. These were Talbots brand. I looked at the tall, middle aged lady wearing glasses, looking at me with a fake smile, making excuses that they are just not buying many of the clothes I brought. I took the 5$, and I almost want to say, your offering 7$ to buy clothes here? With their snobby attitude, the hell Im going to go buy clothes from you! I won't even go back to try to sell again! You're store stinks and there is nothing special about it! I didn't experience this in Fort Myers. Do not go to this store! It's not worth it! Don't even try to sell. Even if it has tags on, they won't buy it! Go to Fort Myers. They are pleasant and will buy as much as they can. They are also bigger and have more inventory. read more

I had brought in about 30 purses just sell. They had only accepted two which is fine however when I got home with the rest of my purses I realize that they had taken the time to go through each and every purse and turn the pockets inside out looking for anything that I might have left in there. Rude and unprofessional. Woman who took my stuff for evaluation reeked of cigarettes. I left my stuff and trust me it was clean and modern items. I get a text twenty min later to come back to have this lady tell me they took nothing as it smelled of smoke from cigarettes. Ummm I don't smoke! It was her.. and I told her too that she was one who reeked and it was gross. I will never go back. I have made two attempts to bring items to Clothes Mentor. The first time most of my things were rejected, hardly worn. I had given them a brand new never worn suit (designer name) completely rejected . Told me they don't take children's clothes. This was a size 6 women's suit. This time I brought Michael Kors handbags, lovely bags hardly used. They would not take them. I spent lots of times going through their merchandise and saw many items that are not in great condition...so don't understand how they make their decisions. The shoes and handbags especially are so worn... I would never purchase them. Save your time and don't bother. I have been to Clothes Mentor several times and have been pleased, but this time I was SHOCKED! Ladies be warned! I purchased a cute pair of shoes. When I made my purchase the sales person made a special point of telling me that shoes were not returnable. I didn't think much of it because I tried them on and the were a good fit. I took my shoes home and removed the labels from the bottom of the shoes. I found that the labels were strategically placed to cover the holes in the bottom of the shoe leather. These were not just worn areas, theses were actual nickel sized holes all the way through the leather! There is no reason to do business this way! read more

I have to agree with other reviewers that this place needs much improvement especially in the attitudes of the salespeople. There are too many rules. I brought in a dress with a $50 price tag and they offered me $2.20. Another woman took back a designer handbag because they only wanted to pay her $7.00. Good selection of XL my concern is the customer service. I couldn't get through because the lady was sorting through the shirts, she didn't bother to move. Then they were together discussing the blouses and wouldn't move to let me through. The lady at the dressing room was not friendly which I don't expect, but grabbed the purse I was going to buy and said I couldn't take it in. I get the rules, but she is not my teacher sister Mary Alice Ready with the ruler. I waited in line forever while one man was working on the computer, when the woman in front of me was cashed out, the girl behind the counter said abruptly, "go to the front register". When I frowned and pouted saying after waiting that long, she pointed and said "there" with NO smile. Not sure if that is the norm in Naples, but I've been to 6 clothes mentors and have never until today encountered anything but friendliness and welcome. I stopped there with nice clothing and waited about 45 minutes for the buyer to scan it and sort. They scan the tags with a computer scanner which tells them how old the clothes are and if they want that type of item. I took about 35 pieces in and they wanted about three of them for $14.00 One of the three was a $90 dress that is new but too small for me. What a waste of time. They have a few nice pieces but this does not compete at all with our consignment stores here in Naples. Their prices are very good but I don't think I'll go back. I took in Chico's clothes under two years old, some never worn and two Coach purses, also never used. Tags on some of them. They found 1 cat hair and therefore would not take anything. They are a joke. I should have researched them before I went because they are a large corporation. Save your time and deal with local shops. read more

I agree with other comments about rude staff. i too brought in actual name brand items in like new condition. After being told that it would be an hour for them to pick through my things (five items), it took them over two hours, at which point they passed on all. I know they have to pick items that they believe will sell, but they sell crap, and my items were obviously nicer than their inventory. The funny thing is they told me that the shoes didn't have size labels. Obviously they can't read either. I double checked, sies were on the shoes, one pair with original manufacturer size stickers. I visited this store for the first time a few weeks ago and I'm sorry to say that it was my first and last visit. I rarely post negative comments about people/places however when you enter a place of business it is important for the customer to be treated in a respectful manner. Instead, after asking a question to the sales clerk, I was talked to in a rude condescending manner. The sales clerk rolled her eyes at me when I asked her how their consignment store worked. I also found the clothes to be generally quite worn although there were a few newer items and there were numerous items that were not "designer" quality but were from places like Old Navy and Penneys. I could live with the less than designer quality clothing but the arrogant attitude of the sales people made me decide to never visit this store again. read more

Nice clothes, clean store BUT horrible customer service ( except the gentleman that came to help me at the register). Most of them behind the counter are very rude and selective with some people. I was overlooked twice by the same young lady with dark hair, as she waited for someone else to call me so she could get the next person on line. Why? I have no idea because she does not know me. I can speak English as good as you want me to lady, and anyway you looked and sound Hispanic to me. To buy....maybe, to sell NO NO. Most of my clothes still have the tickets on (don't fit due to actual weight, unfortunately) and they said that "because they were older than 2 years (WHAT?) they could only accept a few. They wanted only 4 items for $20 and change. NOPE! I recommend you fire some of your employees and find people who really like to work with customers and, believe me, you will be making much more money. But fix your customer service first. read more

Clothes Mentor was a wonderful experience for me & my girlfriends! The staff there are very eager to help you! They are selective with their buying process which is a breath of fresh air! I like knowing ill be able to shop around for clothing without stains or PET HAIR all over them (considering i'm allergic)!!! 30% off of retail is enough for me! I would rather sell my clothing here then get nothing for them.. It gets busy sometimes so i understand i must be patient sometimes, but its worth it! If you have a "$90" dress and expect to get that much for it (post below this one) you ARE wasting your time. You should know how to calculate 70% off of retail value! I had extremely low expectations about what I would receive for my designer clothing, shoes, and accessories, yet I was still taken by surprise. I was so disappointed in this store. After a purge of my closets I brought in a large group of capris, tops and jackets (Ruby Road, Hearts of Palm, Jones NY, C.J. Banks) - some with original tags and never worn - that were in excellent shape. I made sure all items were clean and pressed before I brought them in. After waiting at least 30 minutes for someone to look at my clothes I was offered an amount much smaller than I expected. And I was an idiot to take it! Yes, they are picky but after looking at what was offered in the store and looking at my clothes I couldn't figure out why they passed on so much of my stuff. The quality of the clothes in the store just isn't there. My girlfriend had the same thing happen to her. I agree, if you want a bargain try TJ Maxx, Beall's Outlet or one of the other discount houses. I'm donating all my clothes from now on. I'd rather get a tax break for my donations than give anything more to this place! read more

I will not shop there again. Staff is extremely rude, they have an attitude (all of them, it must be a requirement to work there). They say jewelry and shoes are final sale but actually everything is, once they get your money forget about it, even if you bring something back during the long 7 day time frame they give you to return something all you get is a store credit or exchange. Last time I was making a return and the lady asked if I was going to shop around for something else and I said no, I was expecting my money back, but I got a store credit instead so I decided to just spend it and don't come back, I grabbed a 2X maxi dress (lots of pretty fabric to cut from to create something new) and headed to check out, the lady looked at me ( size 8 petite) and told me in a discourteous way "do you know this is a 2X" (yes I noticed), also while she was cashing me out the lady who had given me the store credit said abruptly "I asked you if you were going to shop for something else and you said no" ( I changed my mind, can"t I). I'm a pretty quiet respectful person, my family says I'm very tolerant. I'm writing this review because this was one of the various bad experiences I've had at this store. The first time I thought they were having difficult day (it happens and its hard to hide it and give your happy face to strangers when you don't feel it) at this time I went to drop off some dresses from which they accepted only two so I thought "they must sell only the best stuff I'll come back another day" The second time around I went to shop and they kept looking at my well behaved 3 year old daughter like she was a threat to their store, like she was going to get wild any moment, I felt so uncomfortable, also this time I realized that they have a lot of crap and my clothes from last time were way better than what I was seeing (lots of Old navy cheap fabric dresses) still I found a few blouses but since my mirror does not say the same as theirs (also their fitting rooms are kind of dark) I had to come back and return two of them, that was when I decided not to come back again. read more
