I went to Clothes Mentor in Crest Hill, Illinois today. The sales ladies names were Melanie and Brie! They were so kind and helpful from the moment I walked in the door. They made my shopping experience easy and very pleasurable. They added personal touches and communicated with me throughout my entire shopping experience. It is very rare to find people who are so willing to help guide you while you are shopping anymore. I highly recommend stopping in and definitely say hello to Melanie and Brie! Thanks Girls! Wish I couldn't give one star. The people that work there are scum. Clothes are overpriced for a store that sells used items and are outdated selections. They offer you dirt for your clothes and laugh at you if you don't want to take their $3 offer for new items with tags. Waste of time and energy to go to this store read more

Honestly I have shopped at this store for most of my life having grown up in the area and its always been just okay. If you really spend a lot of time there and look through everything with a critical eye you can find a lot of really good pieces. They frequently have sales that make it well worth your while, I got brand new Nikes for super cheap once. Prices are decent, name brand stuff is obviously more expensive but you can find really good quality pieces at a good price. Big downside is just the general environment of the store. It is extremely cluttered, I would imagine they get a great deal of stock moving through the store but it is pretty cramped and usually a bit messy. The dressing rooms in particular are not very comfortable or clean. Lots of dust build up everywhere. Last time I was there my carts handle was covered in just a grimey sticky substance. It is quite a large store with an equally large selection so I can only imagine how hard that can be to maintain but it would greatly improve the overall ambience and comfort of the store. read more

Terrible experience and terrible customer service. I purchased a pair of luxury shoes online for almost $350. They were a heavy platform wedge that weighs four lbs and were shipped in a poly mailer bag, which broke open in transit. When it arrived to me, USPS had taped it shut with "RECEIVED DAMAGED" tape all over. Inside, the tissue paper and shoes were covered in black scuff marks from where it fell out of the flimsy mailer in transit. I reached out to request a return, as these were purchased "as is" and I did not receive them as they were sold, and the manager said they would not allow a return because online orders are sold "as is". I explained that they were not received as they were sold, they were damaged in transit due to their terrible shipping materials, and the manager refused to offer any solution. I am working with corporate to have this looked into but I nightly recommend NOT shipping here. The manager is rude and unhelpful, and clearly does not care about luxury items or customer service. read more

I brought my items mid-morning to the Crest Hill location and waited an hour for the supervisor to review the ​items, and some of my items were new with tags. I must say I was surprised no offer was made for the active wear, cargo pants and designer jeans. ​The supervisor offered me $3.80 for two new bra while entering them into system for a pay out. I was really surprised at how big this store was! That said, the racks needed some weeding: everything was jammed pretty tight. And I thought I was missing something but there was almost nothing in the Medium shirt section on the left side of the store? Maybe this was just a function of what was selling vs. what was being bought, but there couldn't be *that* big of a disparity, could there? As it was, I found shirts that fit me in S and L (as often happens in regular stores). Staff was all really kind and helpful, unlike some of these places where they outright act like you are going to try to steal something. (I have never understood this. Nothing makes me want to shop somewhere LESS than being treated like a presumed crook.) I didn't sell anything so I don't know how picky they are, but everything on the shelves appeared to be in good condition and of recognizable brands (i.e. department stores and "mall stores"). Prices are very reasonable. While I wouldn't say it was the greatest store for clothes shopping, I would check back if I was in this area. Whenever I need clothes this is my first place to stop. The sales and the clearance racks are amazing, and even the accessories. I lost a ton of weight, and this store has made getting a new wardrobe easy and affordable. The clothes are in great condition, and the shoes! The shoes are to die for. I was able to pick up a pair of knee high boots from Torrid that actually fit me! The same pair of boots would cost be over $75 at Torrid and I spent only $14.95. Jeans the same way. I can get a pair of Levis for between $8 and $20 easy for an almost new pair of pants that would cost me $40 to $75 in a department store. The sales are great with as much as 80% off sale days for clearance items. Its a much check out! read more

This is a large and fully stocked store. While I rarely find anything here, my best friend and mother do. Some prices are reasonable. It is packed with clothes, shoes, purses, etc... Some of the racks are high and hard to reach and employees are often busy, so you may have to wait a few extra minutes for help. They do have a lot of nice clothing. I reccomend stopping in; however, I have not sold anything to them, so i cannot speak about that aspect. read more

Personally I didn't have a good experience here. Tried selling some clothes and they told me it will be about half hour, so I decided to shop around while I waited. After about 45 mins they still had not even taken a look at my clothes. I had then asked when my stuff will be ready and was told just a little bit longer. I finally saw someone start to go through my bag. After a couple minutes she just walked away before getting halfway through my bag I had brought in. Another employee was sitting on her phone. When I approached her to ask about my stuff she quickly shoved her phone back into her pocket and said the girl had gone to the bathroom and will be back soon. I am guessing she took a break because 15+ minutes had passed before I had seen her again. Finally after about an 1 hour and 20 mins they had finished going through my bag and were ready for me to pick the stuff they had chosen not to purchase. I was not upset about the stuff they didn't take because I know they only want the in style and newer clothing, I was upset about the time it had taken them (double what they told me), the employee sitting on her phone, and the other employee who decided to take a break in the middle of looking though my items I had brought in. I brought 2 big bags of new with tags and gently used clothes and the sales lady told me to wait 1 hr. My clothes include fashionable brands like H-M, Nike, Wilson Leather, Levi's etc. When I came back there she said that my clothes style don't match their store needs. So I asked her what style are they accepting and she told me like business, casual etc. I brought all type of fashionable clothes of different styles and they haven't bought anything! Why did I waste my time then?! Just to hear that they don't buy anything... I'm very dissatisfied with this experience and I would never recommend anyone to visit this store for selling purposes. read more

Although this store was organized to the best of the employees ability, I was not impressed with my visit. I came in with a huge bag of name brand clothing, some with tags still on, and nothing out of date. It took 45 minutes for the employee to sift through and they only took 4-5 items. Like platos closet, this store is a rip off. $10 for my items with tags on them, and they're going to sell it for double the price. I was looking through their items and a lot of it was old or out dated. There was so much stuff, most likely the reason they wouldn't accept my newer items. I found it outrageous that they were selling Coach purses (not sure if they were real or fake) for $100. I can buy a new REAL Coach purse at the outlets for less than that. I would always pass this place while on my way to work, and wondered if they were better than the infamous Platos closet in terms of buy back. Come to find out, they are both owned by the same company.I went here today to see if they would buy any of my clothes/shoes. I brought in 2 designer name polos, some booties, a random floral shirt, and some jeans. They bought back the booties, floral shirt, and denim. I received $11 for these three items. Not a place to get rich or anything, but I was happy that they bought back any of my items. I browsed for a short time, and they actually have some good deals on a lot of items in good condition. There were some newer styled coach purses I would have loved to snag up, but I resisted. Seems to be a pretty good business. read more

The lady at the front of the store and the lady at the cashier desk both greeted me as soon as I walked in and that was great. It was the first time I have entered their store. I brought in an Authentic Louis Vuitton bag to sell and the manager told me she couldn't take my bag because it was fake. Not only was that NOT TRUE, but if they don't know the item well, I would suggest looking up the item's specific description online or calling the store to ask, or authenticating with online with Carol Diva. They could have a also asked me to bring the receipt if it was a concern. It is very rude to assume a bag is fake without getting the details first. I will not be returning to this store. read more

OMG ! AWESOME store ! Great customer service. I have been selling my stuff to the Clothes Mentor for couple of years . Today was special day I did FINALLY found my favor location . The manager Caythe and her assistant Andjoua provide me with the best service I ever got from this company ! Friendly, with "Big smile" well organized showing professional skills handling other customers at the same time . This is the best Clothes Mentor in the 30 miles range. I brought in two bags of clothes to this location and within ten minutes I was told that they wouldn't accept any of my clothes. I had brand name sweaters, jeans and shirts. I had a range of many sizes and nothing was accepted. My clothes were only partly gone through. I will not ring anything to this location or shop here. read more

Came in on a Friday with 2 bags of clothes and bags. No one was in the store she told me twenty minutes. An hour later while my husband and son waited in the car, she still hadn't started. I said I'll come back. She said okay twenty more minutes. I came back an hour later she wasn't done yet but at least was working on it. Twenty minutes later she was finished. I had a Prada bag in the mess. She said she wasn't able to give me an offer on the bag as she needed manager approval to give that much cash. So she asked me to come back in the morning when her manager was there. I came right at -0 am (opening) and same thing for 1 hand bag 2 hours of my time for them to tell me they were unsure of the authenticity and they weren't offering me anything for it. (I'm not offended- I received the bag as a gift. It had paperwork, but I didn't buy it so I don't know. Wasted 4 hours of my life for $60 they gave me to take multiple coach bags, 2 Michael lots jackets and a Colombia jacket. Not worth my time. I make more in 4 hours at work. read more

I have been selling my clothing to the Clothes Mentor in Naperville for years and was always well pleased with the outcome. When this location opened, I assumed it would be the same enjoyable experience...well, you know what they say when you ASSUME... The last few visits the staff was unhelpful and rude. When I dropped off things to sell this time, the lady at the counter greeted me curtly with "We are very selective about what we are taking in." She said this without even looking at my things. I had high end designer/trendy clothing with tags still attached on some pieces, all current and sellable...I left 2 rather large baskets for them to go through. They said it would take an hour... I came back a few hours later and was really surprised to find they only took a few pieces. Coincidently, they were from on top of the baskets. When I returned home, I went through the baskets only to find they never went through them. The clothing was exactly as I had packed it...Why waste my time and theirs? I would not have bothered to bring in items if they didn't want to do their job...or driven to Naperville where at least I know I'm treated fairly and respectfully. I went to Clothes Mentor with an idea of checking it out before I brought in my clothes to sell them and to see what they had that I might be interested in. My first impression is that it reminded me of an unkempt garage sale. It was crowded and had a foul smell. The gal behind the counter wasn't interested in customer service and was very rude. I had taken in a never used Joy-Iman purse to see what they would offer. I couldn't believe my ears when the rude person behind the counter said, "$7.50 is our offer". I kept my purse and I'll be selling it on Craigslist or ebay. I definitely WILL NOT darken Clothes Mentor's doors again. read more

I have not been here in a long time and was very disgusted the last time I went in. The store was filthy, with clothes all over the floor, sizes all mixed up and the racks are so tight it's hard to even look. The workers are not friendly and the prices are ridiculous. You can get better prices for new stuff at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, etc., with a better shopping experience. Will definatley not go back. read more

I don't shop here, but I do sell my clothes here. My main concern is that they are always short staffed. Last weekend I went in at 2pm with a bag of clothes. They said to come back in an hour. I come in a little after 3 and they had JUST started going through my stuff. I waited another half hour for them to enter it into the computer and pay me. The person doing it kept stopping to check out customers; I get that, but they need someone dedicated solely to going through the bags people bring in. I feel like for some things I get a decent amount of $$ offered and for others they totally low ball you. Really depends on the items and who's helping you, but I ended up leaving with about $40 cash so I can't complain. read more

I just went into this store and it is by far the cleanest and most well organized that I've ever seen it. There's room to look at the clothes on the racks, they've picked through everything so it's not so crowded. Everything is divided by size and color which I love, sometimes I go in there for specific items and I was able to find what I was looking for immediately!! I've bought and sold with this Clothes Mentor. The prices are... meh. If you can hit a clearance sale, they're reasonable otherwise I've certainly seen better prices for the condition you get the clothes in. I've found A LOT of clothes with holes and stains and stuff that I cannot believe they actually bought due to style. As for selling with them; I'll never do it again. I have no idea what system they use to buy things, but I've brought in items with tags (name brand), also designer (less than 1 year old) items that they've passed on. When they have bought things, I've gotten about $3 per item (designer shirts). I'm always shocked on what they won't take and then look on the racks and see stuff that's VERY outdated or in poor condition. read more

Be ready to get almost everything back that you try to sell. Staff isn't very friendly and one of the staff makes you feel like you are scum and she's upper class better then you. Take an inventory of what you bring to them. They told me that they bought 2 of my things and when I went through it when I got home there were things missing that I bought in and never got back or paid for. I called about it and, of course, no one knew anything. They paid me $3 for two items, next time I'll take the tax deduction and donate. read more

There aren't enough reviews out there for Clothes Mentor, so I'll start with this one. What a huge place. Omg. SO MANY CLOTHES! The grown up version (and more organized) of Plato's Closet, there is something for every size here. Jewelry, belts, shoes, designer bags, clutches, jeans, scarves, and the list keeps going. I can't speak for the seller side of this review, this is strictly for the buyers! This is the best and most organized Clothes Mentor I have been to, and the manager Tricia is fabulous. She even let us look at the new merchandise just brought in! The prices aren't ridiculous as some have mentioned, considering these are mostly designer items at least half off retail value. I found an Ann Taylor shirt with the tags still on it for 8$, Danskos for 20$, a Cache dress for 16$ (200$ retail) and Miss Me Jeans for 35$. Those items alone in the mall cost $480, and I got them for 79$ (Yes, I did the math! ;) )Can't beat that. You may find some non-designer in the mix, but that is simply because it fits in the current styles. All I'm saying is, check this place out, you won't be disappointed. Since finding Clothes Mentor two years ago, I can count on one hand the number of times I have been to the mall since! read more

Terrible just like Platos!!! It's not even about the low amount of money you get for your clothes, it's about the whole gimmick. I was told to come here by Platos, that my clothes were great but that store couldn't take them for various reasons. I brought 3 huge garbage bags full of designer clothes, they bought 0 items, not even the brand new sweater I bought from Ann Taylor a month ago that was too small for me; bogus as heck, not to mention the fact that I spent more money on gas to get there, and the fact that they purposely make you wait 20+ mins. just to get you to shop around there. And the excuses they gave me?- out of style, they want something new....um hello, did they not see the Fall and Winter 2011 tags on half of my stuff?...excuses just to get you to show up and buy something instead. I've actually had really good luck here, but you know it's hit or miss at all of these places. I agree they don't buy much, we brought in a bag full of clothes and most of it was denied. I do find good things there, though, and my daughter always finds good stuff. I've bought purses, plus size clothing, and my daughter has bought boots and shoes and clothing. We love it! read more

I'll start off by saying that the customer service in this place is wonderful; all the women are very polite and courteous. The store is always neat and tidy. I love the place so much that I've become a regular. Although the prices on the designer bags are a bit high, I keep going back. The only problem I have is the authentication on the designer bags. I'm not sure how they "authenticate" but I'm sure some slip through the cracks...I saw a Dior bag there that was a "replica" and I bought a coach this weekend for 35.00 and I am almost 90% sure it's a fake after looking at it better once I got home. Very unfortunate since there are no returns and all sales are final. They also sell designer bags in terrible conditions. some even to the point of being ripped. I will definitely be on my toes when buying their bags in the future. Other than that this is a great place to shop for less. read more

Hit or miss. Was disappointed when I was told I would receive an email coupon for my birthday and I never received email. I stopped by the store and they saw it on my account, it had expired the day before. Not happy that they would not honor coupon. Will definitely think twice about before shopping there. read more

I was skeptical based on some of the prior reviews but after my experience today, felt as if I wanted to write about my recent experience. Customer service was great. I was greeted as I walked in the door. The buying process was explained to me. It would take a little bit of time as they enter information on each item into a computer and it may take 20 minutes for my items to get looked at as there was one person ahead of me. She then asked for a cell phone number and told me that they would text me when the process was completed. Easy! I will say that they only took four items from a large bin of clothes but the woman explained that they could only take items from the last season or two... and I know some of my items (although stylish and even new) were older than that. I wasn't upset that they didn't want my clothes, I obviously didn't want them either which is why I was bringing them to Clothes Mentor. As far as shopping, I didn't buy anything but there seemed to be a good variety although you would have to have some time to do a thorough search for items. read more

It was my firs time there 1 week ago. The two women there were very rude! They were talking about the people coming in and what they were bringing in. They took two of my items. When I took the others back to my car I noticed the Brighton belt was misssing. I went back in and asked if they took it they said yes but they didnot tell me that when they paid me the small amount for my two items. They basicaly stoled it. I will not go back and will tell everyone I know not to patronize this store. read more
