Scam Scam Scam! Beware of this company along with their sister company Closet World. Currently both of these companies are advertising on social media up to 50% off. Closets by design is offering 55% off and I was even offered a loyalty discount because I'm a return returning customer. The sales rep came out to my home. I essentially said exactly what I wanted. No frills white melamine installation for two closets, one which is 4 feet wide and the other, which is about 5 feet wide. Four drawers three or four shelves and two rods to hang shirts and pants. Nothing long. The estimate for this no-frills White melamine project for the two closets was originally priced at $7500 and after all the gracious rebates and discounts took it down to approximately $3,200! And that is with a 55% discount plus an additional loyalty discount probably a 5% for a total of 60% discount off of $7500. What a scam! The bid on these two closets including any incentive should've been no more than $1200 as a fair and reasonable price with 60% off! And no cost for installation. What a joke! When I receive the bid from the very nice sales person that came to my home, I immediately responded and replied that I felt that these prices were used and highly inflated only to absorb their fake discounts. I can't express enough how much I regret buying from Closets by Design. We had countless issues during the initial installation, and it took weeks for Daniel to return my calls. Fast forward to today... the closet is falling apart. Note: this is our second home, so the drawers have seen very little use. When I purchased the system, it was sold with a lifetime warranty. So, I called to request a repair. Unfortunately, I was connected with the same service manager we dealt with previously. He claimed the issue wasn't covered under warranty and insisted the repair would cost $250 -- no exceptions. I have the email chain to go with this entire experience. When I expressed my disappointment, he started yelling, told me that escalating the issue wouldn't matter since he's the manager, and then hung up on me. It's incredibly frustrating to deal with a company that overpromises, underdelivers, and shows so little regard for its customers once the sale is made. read more

The design I signed off on and paid a 50% deposit on was not the design the installers came to build. The first time out the 2 installers said the measurements were off and they needed to re-measure and come back the following week. The following week one installer showed up. He informed me that the built in would not look like the design I signed off on. At that point I asked to speak with the supervisor and expressed my concern. I said that if this job was not something that the company could do, they should have said that. I would not have booked them. I was then told that they needed the payment in full before they did the work. For obvious reasons, there was no way I was going to pay for something that I had no idea what it was going to look like. I asked for my deposit money back. I was told they didn't do that. We had multiple quotes on our closet build out. Tracy from Closets by Design was the only one who took the time to sit with us and design the closet with us. She nailed it and her design specs were impeccably done (by hand). Using those specs we were able to analyze how much more storage we would have given her design. The competitors shrunk our storage space. Pricing: CbD was extremely competitive and found all potential free upgrades. Tracy went out of her way to provide the best deal without compromising quality or function. Outcome: Stunning! We are beyond pleased. Not only does the custom closet increase space and storage capacity, but it looks breathtakingly sheik! I do not know how Tracy did it but she designed a closet that gave me more space for clothes, integrated drawers and hampers, and displays my 50+ pairs of shoes with room to grow. I have handbag storage also. Our walk-in closet was small, cramped, and over crowded. Now it is luxurious and spacious with our clothing artfully displayed. Thank you! read more

The only reason I gave one star is the designer. Tracy nailed exactly what I needed. It went down hill from there They use an old design materials. Installer had the bookcase out of alignment. Header board sat on top and dropped over front of case. Side filler was short. I made him stop and leave. The next day one of the boards fell off. It took many calls to designer, install department and main office. After two weeks it did get done So bad experience from Cheap materials. Installation. Follow through And I choose the most expensive bid. read more

Awful customer service. This company does not care about staffing their business appropriately and you will wait for weeks before you can get a designer to come out only to be cancelled on the day before your consultation, over and over again. Filled out my online inquiry form on Jan 4 and got a confirmation booking for Jan 18. The evening before the appointment, I received a call informing me that the designer was sick and they had no one else to cover the area. I was rescheduled for Feb 1. Low and behold the day before, I received a voicemail from the call center asking me to call them back. When I called back and finally got in touch with someone from the call center I was informed that the designer scheduled to come out is never returning to Closets by Design and the soonest I could be rescheduled is Saturday, Feb 4. Unacceptable. This is the first step in securing business - if they can't even get this right on the second try, I shudder to think what the install process will be. Glad I saw the writing on the wall and crossed them off the list before I wasted any more time with them. read more

We had Closets By Design do our closets - 4 systems for the bedrooms in the house. Materials were okay, but lousy customer service - we had to have our own handyman recut the closet doors to fit correctly and their installer never actually finished the job. We still are missing the "felt silencer strip" on one of the closets. They finally just gave up and have never bothered to make it right. Avoid them. read more

I could not ask for a better experience. Mary Styler our designer created a beautiful closet and office setup, She initially did the design w/o seeing the actual space as the house had not been built. Once the walls were in Mary measured and made necessary changes to her design. I love our new closet and the office space is great. (See photos) The installers were great as well. They even installed a rack in the laundry room to hang clothes from the dryer. This was not even in the design but like Mary they were about giving good customer service. read more

Jake arrived on time!! Very friendly, courteous, ready to dive in to building my dream closet. I appreciated that he didn't just come right in to work, he talked to me first and was very personable. I was greeted with a huge smile and that meant the world. Dave followed and was just as friendly. He came right on in and got to work. Both of them continued to update me on the process throughout the entire experience. They were knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. They cleaned up at the end of the service and it was impeccable as if nothing had ever been done. My husband and I would recommend these two young men anytime!! We hope to have them for our project. Where do I begin? My sales rep, while nice... Talked incessantly and it shows in the installation. She designed a minute space that's partially hidden by a wall for my guests to hang their clothes and The jewelry drawer is too high. The installation was sloppy and very unprofessional. Uneven drawers, shelves that are not aligned and sloppy cuts around the border which gives an uneven look. The installer gave me attitude as if I was intruding on his time and became quite short near the end even though I barely spoke with him during installation. I'm awaiting word for them to send somebody to fix the issues... But I would save my money or better yet, spend more money and go somewhere else! read more

What a joke this company is! The designer made significant measuring and design mistakes that resulted in several redesign and reordering steps. The "1-day" install took 3 visits over a 6 weeks period. The 100% financing line of credit (0% interest free for 18 months) with 10% down was a complete misrepresentation. In reality CBD only "financed" 40% although the line of credit approved by the bank was in excess of the total cost of the closets. CBD took 20% down from my credit card and then charged another 40% to my credit card as their "1st payment". So all in all, the financing deal is bogus and they use it to seal the deal. Calling customer service was a nightmare. Finance/billing transferred me to the installation department. Installation department (the rep told me she was with Finance) said the designer made a mistake. I escalated this to 3 levels of management - nothing fixed or resolved. Just "oh sorry, the designer made a mistake." They transferred me to the ordering desk to get it resolved. Guess what? The ordering desk is in fact the finance department and they insisted on transferring me back to the Installation department. Really? I like to spend my money on a company that is going to stand behind their product and their name. Didn't get that with CBD. Design expertise - F Financing process - F Customer service - F Product - B I urge you all to find a different company to get professionally installed closets. No need to horse around with a company that jerks around their customers. You can do much better. read more

They are so messed up the 888 number transferred me to another state where the person answering the phone had no clue what I was talking about. I ordered cabinets for my garage from Angie. When the installers came, part of what I ordered was missing. I made multiple calls to Angie as well as her manager, Amanda, which went unreturned. When I did reach Angie she told me she couldn't speak because she was about to go make another sales call! I had to find out who the installation manager was myself and track him down to have their mistakes corrected and receive what I paid for. Several follow up calls to "manager" Amanda to discuss my outrage at their incompetence and infuriating customer service went unreturned. Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with! It was a disaster from the beginning. Their designer Suzanne didn't measure my closets correctly so the closets had to be modified and not to my satisfaction. They also charged my credit card for final payment without my permission, after telling me they would give me a discount for my inconvenience which I did not get! Closets by Design only cares about getting their money from the customer not the quality of their work, which is terrible! I would not recommend Closets by Design to anyone! read more
