The Tailored Closet of Wilmington NC

The Tailored Closet of Wilmington NC

We hired the Tailored Closet ( also know as Premier Garage and Tailored Living) to install full…read morecustom cabinets in every closet in our home remodel. We have worked with another franchise out of Charlotte that was excellent so we were very familiar with the product and process. We worked with Bob Bowman as the face of the company. He was able to pull up our prior closet systems and we said we wanted something very similar only tailored for this home. The overall experience was one of the most stressful of our remodel. Bob is not a skilled designer. Doors in our laundry were designed with zero clearance to the wall so the handle hits the wall. The shoe rack was placed in such a way that it could not fully extend to get out the back shoes without removing the shoes in front, and there isn't enough spacing to fit men's shoes on each holder. He added needless material to the top shelf that increased cost and made the closet area feel smaller. When we asked for it to be removed, they used a small plastic shelf style holder and missed the studs multiple times so we had 7-8 holes left in our wall and he told us it will likely fail. He ordered the wrong garage cabinets 3 times! Holes were drilled in the wrong places on some cabinets and then just filled. We were considered picky because we didn't want filled holes in a brand new install. Walls were dinged and dented. Materials were received damaged and some shelves were never received. We were considered picky because we want the damaged shelves to be replaced instead of repaired. Bob said he would be on our install every day when it was our turn. We had to delay the install by a couple weeks and Bob said if we wanted his full attention and time on the job, we would need to wait for 1 1/2 months. It was a big job so we agreed. When the time came for our install we were told he could not be on the job every day because he was the designer, production manager, schedule coordinator and very busy, but he would try and check in daily if he could. The first day the two installers showed up, it was apparent that one was a trainee. He had to ask the most basic questions of what screw to use and the like. We were told that the installers would be on our job full time until it was done. As the job started, Bob then pulled the guys off for other jobs. So a 1 week install took 3 weeks. We started the process in March and it didn't finish 90% until August. Communication was horrible. Bob stopped responding to messages so we contacted the franchise headquarters. They reached out to the owner, Jeremy Stang but he never responded to us. Bob finally called. He made a list of damaged and missing material, which was already paid for. He reordered those items at the end of July and said it would take 6 weeks or so. We checked back in September and he said he was having problems with the supplier and to give it another 2 weeks. When we checked back again he said he was going to switch suppliers and the material would be in by the end of October so don't call back sooner. We then left messages at the end of October, again in November, and again in December. No reply. So in January of the following year, we called corporate back. Once again they called the owner Jeremy Stang but he would not take any action nor call us. Corporate apologized but said each franchise was their own business. When Bob called, he asked how could he help us. We said we have not heard from you in months and we are calling to follow up on the replacement of our damaged and missing shelves. He replied...I'm sorry but I have no recollection of that. I then forwarded him our text communication. Our attorney sent them a letter, and once again, the owner Jeremy Stang ignored it. We will now be pursuing this legally. This is a poorly run franchise. Support another local business for your closet and garage needs; a company that operates this way does not deserve anyone's hard earned money.

My garage was a disaster and my house had toy pieces everywhere. Melissa helped me make a plan and worked with me to get some key spots organize so that they are now truly functional spaces for our family. My garage is so tidy that I am still surprised everytime I go in there. The play room is organized and the toys (and their pieces) all have a place. The kids have more fun with in there and it is easier for everyone to help with the clean up. I will definitely use this company again in the future for other projects and I would recommend them to anyone who needs some help making their spaces work for them.

She was a pleasure to work with, and what felt like a daunting task became surprisingly painless. She had great ideas for storage solutions and came prepared with the right containers to make everything look cohesive. In just one day, we completely transformed the space. Now my desk is clear, my files are organized in a system that makes sense, and my office feels expansive and calm. I no longer panic when I need to find an important document. Hiring Melissa was one of the best gifts I've ever given myself, and I can't recommend her enough. There have been several projects we've done together: My garage, my primary bedroom/office, one of my Airbnb rooms, my Non-profit storage spaces, and building my gorgeous dream bathroom from the ground up. As with any giant project, you face some hesitations. I was initially concerned about hiring a home organizer due to being embarrassed by the mess, or being unsure if I could trust her not to throw away things that were precious to me or if it would work in general. But I was able to develop the trust that she knew what was important to me, and I no longer feared that she would throw it away. If I wasn't there to watch her, I trusted her. She knew me, and she knew that pictures were supremely important to me. Things that my parents had given me, my grandparents, anything from my family, and that it might be trash to someone else, but it was a treasure to me. I could trust Melissa with that. After several organizing projects, I entrusted Melissa with helping me design the bathroom of my dreams. Building a room from the ground up required her factoring in my capabilities with my disabilities. She knows my need for accessibility, and what my desires were concerning the colors and style of the space. The benefit in building a room from the beginning is that you can make the drawers and the cabinets exactly the way you want. She knew my needs and the vision, and she helped to make it happen. That is a rare thing to find. When you find it (that person who understands you) you definitely want to hold on to it. Melissa is that person you want to hold onto whom will help you with decluttering and organizing your whole house. Even as I continue to age, I want to hold on to her so that my children will not encounter a giant mess when I pass away. Everything will be labeled and they'll know this is their box from when they were in kindergarten through elementary school. They'll know these are all the family photos and that I've gone through it and organized for them. It won't be as big of a chore as what I encountered with my mom. In conclusion, when you have your home organized with a professional organizer, it's easier to maintain. Each thing has a home and it's easier to put that thing back where it lives; when things don't have a specific home, that's when they begin to pile up. I highly recommend hiring Melissa and the Simple Spaces team as your professional organizers so that you can live a smooth, peaceful life. That's what my bathroom is like. It's peaceful. Starting my day and ending my day in that kind of a peaceful, lovely room is just awesome. And I'm grateful to Melissa for helping me make the decisions as we created that space. I highly recommend her. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me. I'm happy to tell you about her skills and my experience. Annie Anthony
