Bought something on there website. Yes I know it must of been a mistake but was listed on their site none the less. Paid for shipping. Get a call next day saying the website has a mistake and they are refunding my order. I did not ask for a refund. I wanted my item I purchased. I understand again it was a mistake but own up to your mistakes. Maybe make sure your website is correct before posting things online. Most other companies bite the bullet and own up to their mistake. Not here. And the owner was a complete dick about the situation. I understand your losing money is this situation but again own up to your mistakes. Worst business practice ever. Don't not buy. Not friendly. Not helpful. This place was such a disappointment to me. They're going out of business so they are having a big sale of 60% off of most everything, and so there's not a lot of good stock left as far as I could tell. That's nothing I would take stars off for, but rudeness and crappy customer service most certainly are things a business loses stars for. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. read more

I agree with everyone else, it is an issue with the customer service. I came here for the first time because they (claimed to be, but are still around???) going out of business and were going to have a costume sale. I was not impressed with the selection or with the prices. So expensive, even after the 60% off. What did catch my eye was their, how shall we put it, "glass selection," which I will get to in a moment. I noticed while looking for a costume that they sell vintage clothing and I was intrigued, but holy shit is it ever overpriced. You do realize that there are non-profits thrift stores that sell the same item way cheaper?!?! I get it, sometimes there is a cool, vintage, designer item and it may have value, but the point of a thrift store is to be thrifty and get a goddamn bargain. So anyways, I return a month or so ago to check out their "glass" and there was a decent sale going on. Got a piece for $10 and it has been working fine, but the guy was on opiates or something and couldn't talk straight and told me he didn't have time to run my card, and that he wanted cash. I didn't have much and he took what I had versus running my card...I am assuming he ultimately pocketed the cash. read more

I stopped over here after asking where we could go for alternative/goth/industrial shopping close by. It was a-ok - but the gal working was incredibly rude. We walked in with cough drops and she yelled saying we had to spit them out. Cool - I know how it is working ina clothing store - but don't frickin yell at me. Or put a sign on the door - dummy. It's all overpriced fashion - cheap shoes - thrift store essentials - loud jewelery & accessories great for trannies and strippers. It was either overpriced if good quality or $.25 for crap. Upstairs is FULL of stockings which had my hands full. Luckily the guy, Steve, working the counter knew how long some of them had been in the window. He opened up a package of blue animal print stockings to inspect them and sure enough - FADED like hell. I did find 3 patterns I had never seen before, and I was very happy to find them. They also had purses, cheap belts that were $7, feather boas, pasties, Pleaser/Demonia boots/shoes, home items such as girly-skull bathroom soap dishes, soap dispensers, etc. I would probably go back when I have a reason to go to Miramar Theatre again... but only if I really need to find something to do. The rudeness and the price hiking really turned me off. If I didn't have 2 hours to kill, I would have turned around and walked out. read more

My friends and I went in here for the first time yesterday. The staff wasn't overly friendly, the smell of incense was overpowering, and everything was jammed so close together it was hard to see what there was to buy. I doubt that this place meets ADA standards - you can't breath without knocking something over and pulling something off of a shelf. The store has two levels and you have to purchase things from the floor you found it on, which is inconvenient. With that said, they do have a huge assortment of things. Costumes, vintage clothes, a lot of hookerish/stripperish clothes (you'd have to see it), wigs, hats, shoes, accessories. A lot of the stuff is obviously cheaply made, which is unfortunate. They are going out of business, so everything is really cheap - a lot of stuff at 50% off. I got a set of armwarmers and 4 pairs of socks for $16. Not bad. I'd like to go back to buy some more stuff before they close, but don't expect to spend much time or money. read more

I'm actually surprised by the low average rating. Most of it has to deal with the customer service. Granted, it wasn't the best. The people in the café were cool, but I caught the "annoyed" vibe from woman upstairs. Perhaps I got my signals crossed, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. I can't say that I'm a regular vintage shopper, so my basis for comparison is somewhat limited. They have a very large selection and I spent a little over an hour going through everything. I was simply looking for a Halloween costume, but there is definitely value here for the ironic/vintage/hipster crowds. Make sure to try on the glasses near the café, very entertaining. Compared to the other vintage shops on the east side that I canvassed through, this one kept me interested for a long period of time and their selection was pretty impressive. This place also had some of the more expensive items as well. Side note: the café also has some pretty cool head shop items. read more

I was a regular customer when the shop was located on farwell. That was a long time ago and much has changed since- No longer are you allowed to try on items and there are no returns. This policy is just ridiculous, as anyone who knows a thing or two about vintage fashion knows how many standard sizing changes there have been over the last 100 years. Again, I'll reitterate the bad service complaints. The owner states she wants to move to LA, and I wish her luck there. She will need it. read more

Every time I've been here the workers (especially the owner) have been curt, sarcastic, and unreasonable. Don't be tricked into going to this place for the going out of business sale. This is THE place. Whether you've been smoking/vaping for years, or just starting out. I gain knowledge every time I enter this store, the staff is extremely helpful and educated on proper, healthful ways to improve your life. There have even been times I've just stopped by to chat about new pieces of glass/whatever is on my mind - and I've always been given excellent service. Thankful to have a place like this close to my apartment; it's truly one of the gems of Milwaukee. read more

Is this place closed for good yet? I am a terrible procrastinator, and always end up coming here to get my Halloween costume. The ladies working have NEVER been pleasant and when you ask a question, they look at you like your head is spinning. Whatever you do, DO NOT accidentally bring merch from the downstair to the upstairs or vice versa, my sister did a few years back and they nearly ripped her head off (and drank the blood). The place could be cool, there is a lot of variety, but everything is thrown together and it gets overwhelming to sift through. I avoid this place if I can (but I will probably be back never month unfortunately). Also, the prices are generally average, sometimes a little high but its the service that sends me running for the hills! read more

I've shopped at this store several times over the years. The employees and owner of this store are unfriendly on a good day, and extremely rude and insulting on a bad day. Their store policies are terrible, the employees treat everyone like shoplifters. Their return policy is nonexistent, and you can't try anything on. For example, I bought some "glittens" (fingerless glove/mitten combination) here recently, only to discover they were both right-handed and thus unwearable. I thought it wouldn't be a big deal to take them back and get another pair, or just ask for a left mitten, because they were pretty inexpensive and it was, I thought, a mistake made by the store. The glittens were even still hooked together with the store tag. However, the women working (one was the owner) refused to exchange anything, said there was nothing wrong with the pair, then proceeded to tell me the glittens were "handmade in a third world country by a poor mother with a baby strapped to her breast." Nice. I'm sure all the profits made from those mountains of handmade, third world country knits in this store go directly back to those poor mothers. The fact that anyone would want to hang out here and drink coffee is hard to fathom. The people at this store should quit using the Milwaukee institution/original/we've been here a long time excuse and actually be a good place to shop. read more

Closet Classics is a neighborhood business that I learned to loathe due to the horrific customer service. The owner was a disrespectful, low class WITCH!!! But I love the sunglasses and printed tights so I limited my shopping there to once a year. So a cpl months ago I was stunned when an employee greeted me cheerfully and engaged me in a conversation. I was further surprised by the fact that the store didn't smell quite as bad and their was a fresh energy. Turns out that this was no mere employee, it was the dragon-lady's nephew and he'd recently taken over the business. So as long as the new management continues to appreciate my patronage i will continue to support their business. It just so happens that I like to be treated well when I'm buying my overpriced vintage items. read more

When I started my call with "I have a question", the response I received was "I'm with a customer, can you get to the point?" The tone was that of someone annoyed, or being inconvenienced by my call. Came here today, was in town from California and am a regular concentrate user with an enail and recycler. I sent some glass out to where i was staying just to find that the enail coil i ordered was the wrong size. I was very upset and to say the least didn't know what to, i posted on classic closets instagram page last night circa 10pm and they responded in about 30 minutes! I was in a jam and these guys are super responsive! I loved this! They said they had what i needed AND IT WAS IN STOCK! Mind was blown. To think that i could find something adaptable for my enail out in what i believe to be considered the mid-west was nothing but heart warming to say the least. Im epileptic and 710 is a steady part of my lifestyle. These guys not only came through with the quartz nail i needed but had some AMAZING glass from local people that makes me proud for them! Coming from california you're known to come across a lot of glass connoisseurs and snobs. The glass at this place was nothing but on par or blew some cali shops out the water. Oh yeah, these guys know their shit! Knowledgable as fuck and I would recommend this shop to anyone! If you're concerned about prices dont even worry they even have concentrate rigs for as low as 50$! I couldn't help but pick one up while i was there! Spent a total of like 110$ for a Prescribed glass rig, enail banger for 16mm coil(the whole reason i needed to come here), and a skillettools dabber. Sick prices, sick staff, killer glass. read more
