I have been smoking Uhle's tobacco, mostly Blend 71, since 1974. The tobaccos they ship me regularly since then have been uniform in blend and quality all of this time. When I call in an order, they are professionally and accurately taken and I have never received anything but what I ordered. I visited the store once a few years ago and purchased a new Savinelli pipe. The experience was enjoyable and the staff was friendly and helpful. I strongly recommend this establishment and have always received professional and quality service. read more

CIGAR ENTHUSIASTS, this place is for you. Absurdly good variety of cigar, lighters, pipes, ash trays, etc. Very good pricing and friendly staff. Be sure to ask about military discount as well! read more

Decent place. While visiting on business I wanted a cigar and a place to smoke it. Uhle's provided both. Good cigar selection and fair pricing. Not a lot of beverage choices; I don't think they served alcohol. Service was good enough. The lighters weren't filled, which was odd but they had someone there lighting our cigars. Rather light my own, but as long as it gets lit, right? Overall experience was average. Not a lot of comfy leather chairs, not too spacious but we lucked out on our visit - not a lot of people there at that time. Wanted a cigar and needed a place to enjoy it and Uhle's delivered. read more

What a great cigar place this is!! We walked in for La Aroma De Cuba cigars, and were immediately greeted by a gentleman- Elijah. He was amazing, he led us right to the nicest display and inventory of La Aromas we've ever seen!! Elijah welcomed us and made us feel so valued as customers! I highly recommend this great place !!! Love it here !! read more

Decided recently to explore cigars and found that Uhle's is a grandfathered establishment that is allowed to have cigar smoking indoors. Having known nothing about cigar smoking before my first visit, I was given a rundown of choices, provided a cigar to help sort a flavor profile, taught how to properly light a cigar, and hung out with the eclectic community of good people. It was a great time! I will say, this place does get hazy with the smoke (it's my only complaint). But do not let that deter you. There are options to enjoy a cigar overlooking the river right outside. Do not be afraid to say "I am new to this." Everyone started somewhere and these folks will get you right without blowing the bank out the gate. And you need only buy one cigar and you can freely enjoy it indoors. There's even free coffee and water should you need. Street parking hasn't been too much a problem on my subsequent visits, but none is located right out front of the shop. read more

I've been a fan for many years and enjoy their namesake sticks via the mail, always stocking up to avoid shipping in hot weather. The staff there is stable: no revolving door of people you never heard of. Always friendly and personable, even when I call 90 seconds before closing time :). If you ever get a chance to get to know these people, either by phone, online, or in person, spend the time. You will not be sorry. Milwaukee is a long, long way away from me but it's on my bucket list! read more

Great service and very good selection of pipe tobacco's for a good price. My only regret is I didn't bring my pipe in to enjoy Bishop's Move in the store. I'll be back next time I'm in downtown Milwaukee. read more

I went to Uhle's Tobacco Co on 12/2/2022. The gentleman who assisted us had a Burberry scarf and a beard. He embodied what true customer service is. He was pleasant and is very knowledgeable about cigars, and had excellent recommendations. He was very personable and easy to talk to. I will be returning to Uhle's due to this interaction. If you find yourself in Milwaukee and need to find cigars I would recommend Uhle's Tobacco Co. read more

So, this place gets five stars. I love the ambience here, but it's different than other places I have patronized in the past. It gets five stars for a few reasons. 1. It's a place you can either bring friends or make friends. 2. The owner is very engaged and is around to talk to. 3. Their humidor and selection is very good. I'll be spending a lot of time here. read more

An old school tobacco shop. Great service from staff! Small lounge space but decent selection of cigars. Bonus, they blend their own high quality pipe tobacco. Worthy just for the ambiance. read more

They have a huge selection of cigars and pipe tobacco. The staff was very informative and helpful. I recommend a visit for a pleasant smoke.

Very nice selection, very friendly & knowledgeable about cigars. The only pull back is the smoking area is rather small.

Nice little tobacco shop with good selection and quality service in Brady street neighborhood

A great place for a smoke in a beautiful setting. Everybody over there is wonderful highly recommend it

Super chill man cave! Ownership takes pride in that as well they should. Good selection of stogies and very helpful staff. Highly recommend!

My first time going into a cigar/pipe shop was very interesting. They have a huge collection of pipes from corn cop to long stem pipe. The people working there were very friendly and helpful. I liked how they have a private members only room for them to smoke freely. What really peaked my interest was how you can sample pipe smoking for only 50 cents. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who is a fan of cigars and pipes and who is not afraid to smoke like a boss. read more

When life hands you lemons, I say light up a cuban seed cohiba and let the stress melt away. Well, I never have actually never said that. In fact I'm not a big cigar smoker but in the event that I become a father, attend a bachelor party, or get involved in a high stakes poker game I would head on over to Uhles Pipe Shop to load up. This store is a Milwaukee institution originally founded in 1939 by John Uhle, although located on Michigan Ave two blocks away from the current location. Uhle's keeps alive the long standing, culturally entrenched use of tobacco to relax, enjoy the company of ones compatriots, and even conducting business. Like an urban golf course. Uhle's has a great collection of cigars, pipes, pipe tobacco, and other accoutrement. The sales associates are quite knowledgeable. Also, there is a back smoking room where you can enjoy some indoor smoking. They also permit you to bring your own alcohol. Bonus! So sit down next to an autographed picture of Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Cosby, or Harry Connick Jr. and strike a match! read more

Uhle's is a full-service tobacconist and smoke shop. You can find everything you could possibly want by way of pipes, cigars, tobacco, and accessories. Customer service is top-notch. What really stands out about Uhle's is their house-blended pipe tobaccos. I'm a huge fan, and regular smoker, of their aromatic blends. Consistent, flavorful, and very, very good smoking. If you like aromatics, I recommend Blend X, Black Stoker, and the House blend. Although I live in Chicago and could patronize Iwan Reis, I much, much prefer to get my pipe tobacco from Uhle's when I visit Milwaukee. They'll ship their tobacco, too. One of the best things about Milwaukee. read more

How can a non-smoker bestow the "Yay! I'm a fan," four-star rating upon a smoke shop... a place that sells the stuff that I now cannot stand? (Cigars and smokes and blech blech blech! Blech.) Plz explain, RF. Two reasons: 1. Non-cigarette smoking smoking culture (cigars, pipes) seems ridiculously classy and classily ridiculous to me in this antiquated, old boys' club kind of way. Don't get me wrong... this too is also gross, but sometimes, people like to smoke cigars when babies are born or whatever. And while pipes may evoke thoughts of dudes in top hats going hunting with dogs that can smell things really well, or some Masterpiece Theatre kind of nonsense, there's a place for it. This place, because, well... some people dig it. For those people who dig tobacco in the more lofty sense of the word who happen to reside in and around Milwaukee, Uhle's is it. Knowledgable staff, tons of product. Old-timey awesomeness. 2. I used to smoke, many, many moons ago. I loved it. I hate it now, but I loved it then. And then? My favorite were the French cigarettes Gauloises, and I could never find them anywhere. Except Uhle's. See? read more

This is a tobacco shop I wasn't disappointed in checking out, as I happened to pass it while spending time in downtown Milwaukee in October this year. The selection of pipes, cigars, pipe accessories, and other tobacco items definitely didn't disappoint, and would be a very ideal place for someone into smoking cigars or pipes to shop at. (albeit I'm not a cigar or pipe smoker) Staff is very friendly here, and they even have a website where you can browse the products they sell. Very cool to think they've been in business for about 7 decades, but also be aware beforehand that they're closed on Sundays. read more

I have been coming here for years now on and off but for the last month I've been here a few times each month enjoying the member's lounge (if you buy a cigar there, you are a "member" to enjoy it in the back lounge). I've been visiting other cigar lounges in the area and Uhle's is the only proper one in Milwaukee proper. Parking is a pain since of where it is located but after you find parking and walk in, the staff is always friendly and helpful. The selection is in the counter units with a humidor for infused cigars, and a side wall humidor that has some of their house-blends and other styles. The selection isn't the best in the greater Milwaukee area yet it is the best selection in Milwaukee proper. The staff is more than willing to help you pick out a cigar if you tell them what you like/don't like, price point, occasion, etc. They will teach you proper cutting technique and provide different lighters for you to try. The staff really loves working here and will tell you all about the building, the history, cigars, etc. The back lounge gets packed quickly since it can only seat around 5 or 6 people yet you can stand or sit at one of the bar height stools in the pipe tobacco area or up front by the cigars. There is a downstairs "private" lounge if you come in with a group that you can go down there. Definitely worth a stop in if you're in the area to enjoy a nice smoke. read more

Pretty sweet smoke shop on Wisconsin Ave. I happened to notice this place in passing one day while wondering where I could go to replace the tobacco missed while living in Texas. On a whim, I popped in and loved the place. I'm not a hardcore cigar or pipe smoker. Cigars are one of those things I'll do when it's a part of the current distraction (bachelor parties, poker night, my last date with your sister, etc) but pipes are more interesting to me. Growing up, I had a grandather who smoked one and the nostalgia from smelling pipe smoke is something I adore. I picked up a pipe while stationed in San Antonio and was given a starter education at a great shop there. As a novice, I've found the staff at Uhle's to be extremely friendly and helpful with my 1001 questions about care, pipes and tobacco. As I understand it, their tobacco pricing is very reasonable, as is the selection and quality. I'd highly recommend coming here for at least an introductory visit. read more

I needed to purchase some cigars as a birthday gift for my brother recently. I took to Yelp to find the best cigar shop and it appears it's Uhle's by the mile. I couldn't agree more. I am completely clueless when it comes to cigars. Truth be told, I do enjoy one every now and again but I'd be hard pressed to recommend anything outside of Macanudo's or H. Upmann's . I love the smell and the heavy dense smoke that envelopes you. So I needed to rely on an honest reputable business to help me with my purchases. I walked in equipped with a single Brand name to help me complete my mission. The first thing I noticed was the aroma, a customer was smoking a cigar near the cash register an it wafted up to me. One of the staff immediately sensed I was out of my element and asked, to my relief if he could help me. My biggest fear was going to a Cigar Shop and being condescended to by a snob for my lack of knowledge. He was very friendly and down to earth and put me at ease immediately. I told him I wanted to buy a gift for someone at that all I knew is he liked "Acids". He knew the brand, brought me over to the grouping and explained the differences in the cigars and also made some suggestions. He was spot on, after opening the gift my brother exclaimed that they were his favorites. While he was ringing me up I notices a display case of cigarettes and noticed they had packs of Djarum Cloves. My eyes lit up, I had heard they were not legal to sell anymore. I inquired about them and he explained they made some changes to get around the laws and make them legal to sell again. Score! I cannot recommend Uhle's enough whether you're a cigar illiterate as I am or a connoisseur you will be pleased by the level of service and the selection they have to offer. read more

Wait! I don't even like cigars! So what am I doing in a cigar shop?! The folks at Uhle's were nice, friendly, and let the non-smokers hang out and shoot-the-bull with them. I know nothing of cigars but they seemed to have a big selection, along with all types of cigar and pipe accessories. The little lounge area is quite nice and a great way to meet some locals. On a recent visit, Uhle's became our meeting spot (because that's where we could find Andy M.) so I was there at least three times in one day. Again...I don't even like cigars! But this place was just so fab. read more

You're reviewing a pipe shop? Whaaaa? OK so my bf got turned on to a once-in-a-while cigar while visiting the Keys and just chilling outside with a glass of wine. So, we thought we'd see what was in our backyard and lo and behold, Uhle's. This place seems to be a mecca of all things tobacco. They do not have a humidor - instead the cigars are in individual cases like back in the day. When we stopped in, there were a few people relaxing with a drink from the bar next door and smoking inside (the only drawback for me - I can't stand the smoke, and 10 minutes in here made my hair and my jeans stinky). 4 stars is for the amazing knowledgeable staff. The gentleman who helped us really asked good questions to see what we might like and when I was hesitant about a cigar he thought I would like, he said I could have it for free and then come back for more if it was what I wanted (bonus!). Def will be back here anytime I need a gift, etc. read more

I'm not much of a smoker. But when I do, I go to Uhle's. Actually, I wouldn't consider myself a smoker at all but I do fancy the occasional pipe. So when it came to purchasing a pipe of my own, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. A friend and I went here after discovering our mutual interest in learning more and that's exactly what we did. Walking in, we directly headed to the wall of pipes where a staff member met us and explained the different styles and purposes we could find. Being the novices that we are, this was extremely helpful and I'm glad the staff was patient enough to talk us through what we could purchase (even if we were straying away from the more expensive ones). If you don't have the luck like we did finding help - don't be afraid to ask! They will definitely take the time to guide you. I know their hours are posted outside, but it's always difficult for me to tell when they're open. The way the store is laid out, you wont see too much light shining through the window. If they look closed, check before making an assumption! If you're looking for pipe tobacco, Uhle's has a variety of blends available and canisters to sniff before purchasing. They also have your typical pre-packaged tobacco if you have an old favorite or are looking for the blend grandpa use to smoke. Friendly service? Nostalgia? Old fashioned smoke shop? Sign me up! read more
