I was a bit nervous that I might have to share a table or feel awkward coming alone on a Friday night -- but it turned out to be such a comfortable and relaxing experience. Exactly what I needed as a toddler mom wanting a quiet break before a solo parenting weekend. Friday night in Walker's Point has such a vibe -- the whole neighborhood was buzzing! I buzzed the door, walked up to the second floor, and as soon as I opened the door, the cozy and intimate space immediately put me at ease. I had a table just for myself! The process is super smooth and not at all overwhelming. You get to do your own thing, but the staff are attentive -- they check on your drink, walk you through the candle-making process step by step, and then guide you to the scent bar. Even though I was surrounded by couples and friend groups, it never felt awkward. My drink, New Moon, was delicious! It comes served in a little box, and you get to open it to reveal the drink -- such a fun surprise. My candle turned out amazing, and I can't wait to burn it. The whole experience took about 1 hour and 15 minutes, including around 25 minutes for the candle to fast chill -- just the right pace for a relaxing solo night. This place is so hipster cool, to enter the bar you buzz in the 2nd floor from the main building entrance and they ask you if you have a reservation, sitting at the bar, or stopping by to shop. Once you're buzzed in, hop you way up to the second floor through wide antique metallic industrial doors within cream city brick walls and then another similar door to the bar. Definitely speakeasy as they describe it! I stopped in quickly to grab some gifts, so I will definitely want to come back to experience the candle making and drinks! Staff was helpful, she directed me to the section where they had the gifts on display, which had a decent amount of fragrances to choose from. I went with the Spruce + Cedar and Lake Park Breeze. Checking out at the bar was a breeze! I think the experience of candle making and ambience at the bar is worth the price. Had the BEST time here. What a fun experience! We did a girls night and I looked forward to it for literally months. I will definitely come back with my husband for a date night and would definitely recommend for a date night! They have mood lighting, great vibes, absolutely stunning decor in a historical looking building. You come in and have to be let in by staff via the intercom and walk upstairs, where you are greeted by Chimi (short for chimichanga!!!) the sweetest pup, in addition to the friendly staff that will be guiding you through the candle making process. The candle making process is a little overwhelming with all the options but the staff broke it down so well for us and were super helpful. I loved that she was there often enough to offer necessary support and guidance, but not so much that it felt like an imposition or distraction from the quality time you are enjoying with loved ones you are sharing this experience with. The drink menu is extensive and impressive. I don't remember what I had but I do remember that we all loved what we ordered. The cocktails were beautiful, and delicious! I was in love with the space. I want to just come and sit here and have a cocktail one day and sit in their little semi private area tucked away near the bathrooms; I feel like this would be a perfect hidden gem spot to surprise a date for a fancy drink. The experience is a little pricey, but I definitely say it is worth it. You can tell they don't skimp on the details- from not having the place jam packed, so you can feel calm and relaxed, but there are still enough people there for a vibe; to the boxes and glass that the candle is made in- you can see every detail is thought of and it just sparks joy. Glassnote is a hidden gem in Walker's Point! If you're a candle person, you need to add this spot to your bucket list, whether it's for date night or girls' night. I had to make a reservation for two on a Thursday evening a few weeks in advance. It's not a place that you can make same-day or even same-week reservations at, so make sure you're planning ahead. The space is very cozy and warm, with a nice date night ambiance. When you get started with making your candle (you can book a reservation for making one or two candles per person), you get to choose 3-5 scents to add to your candle, ranging from warm to citrusy to floral, just to scratch the surface. The process overall is very easy, and the candlemaker gave us her professional opinions on which scents paired well together and which ones didn't, which was super helpful when we were trying to narrow down our favorites. Plan to be there for 2-ish hours. Their cocktail menu is quite creative as well. We enjoyed an early evening drink alongside our candlemaking, and then went to a late dinner afterwards. Since we were celebrating a birthday, our candlemaker even gifted us a birthday shot on the house, which was a nice bonus as well. Pro tip: Come with a few clever ideas for a candle name--otherwise you may be thinking on it for a while! read more

I don't remember how I found out about this place, but I'm so glad I did. My husband and I are both very much candle people and light candles almost every evening, so I surprised him with a date night here. The reservations fill up kind of fast, so I made a reservation several weeks in advance and there were plenty of spots available for a Saturday evening. When you get to the building, you buzz the 2nd floor and then they will let you in. Once you're there, a chandler (medieval term for candlemaker) meets you at the door and takes you to your table. It's a very cozy space - the lights are dim, there are candles, the music is audible but soft, and in the back nook there are comfy couches and a very pretty view of the Hoan bridge. When seated at the table, the first thing they have you do is order drinks. I saw on Yelp that the first drink was included in the price of the booking, which is not true anymore. My husband got the Juno Avenue and I got Moto Mami. The Juno was strong but tasty and my gin drink was very tasty! If you're a gin person, you won't be disappointed. They also have a make your own old fashioned bar. As the drinks are being made, you're guided to the fragrance wall where you can smell all the different candles to decide on the scents for your candle. Once you've chosen them, the chandler guides you to making your own candles at a very appropriate pace. The activity is very relaxed and does not feel rushed at all! While you're waiting for your candle to set, they invite you to explore their space and they have a conversation starter game which we really enjoyed. We spent a total of about 2 hours here. The only cons I have is that ultimately it ended up being pricier than I imagined - there is a 20% automatic gratuity added onto the bill. I also wish they had some snacks available as we were getting a little hungry, but they do allow you to bring in your own light snacks for your reservation. They staff was so friendly and made the process so easy and it was so relaxing! We began our date ordering a bottle of wine and picking our scents. Milwaukee Candle Company was started by Kevin Goudzwaard with a vision of creating candles built on the idea of scent-memory connection, since the sense of smell can trigger treasured memories and nostalgic thoughts. It is also the most powerful of the five senses. The company's website is well designed and easy to navigate. Candles are reasonably priced, ranging from $15 - $20, and shipping is only $5. You can shop by fragrance or collection. (The Whisky Old Fashion is in the Collaboration Collection.) They also sell Natural Incense and candle accessories. I ordered the Whiskey Old Fashioned candle and received it a few days later. It came with a nice note thanking me for my purchase along with a votive and some stickers. The candle smells amazing! I also love that it comes in a reusable Libby rocks glass that can be used for cocktails (or other beverages) after the candle is done. The glassware was inspired by the ones used in the Old Fashioned served at Great Northern Distilling (Plover, WI) and the soy candle is infused with essential oils featuring notes of orange, cherry, maple, bitters, and whiskey. Despite covid and long distances, these guys don't let anything stop them. Why? Because they sell DIY candle kits that deliver straight to your home in a n y state. You might be a little skeptical, because if you're like me (that has never made candles before) you might start to panic a little bit and think you won't be up for the challenge. LET ME TELL YOU: this kit is F O O L proof! Super easy to follow along. Also, the kit comes perfectly packed in the cutest packaging with all the tools you need except for a thermometer and microwave (and stove of course lol). The cool thing is if you don't have a microwave you can melt the wax right in your stovetop. Just make sure you have a rag or hot mittens to hold the glass with. What I love most about this kit is it's very easy to follow and as I mentioned in the beginning it's PERFECT for a date night and so so FUN. The best thing is once you burn the candle down all the way you can reuse the glass with your favorite spirit. The mason jar the soy wax comes in is also reusable! Absolutely loved my whisky scented candle, such a fun night in and definitely can't wait to come visit in person and have the full experience! Had a great holiday experience here with friends a while back. Overall it was a very fun afternoon while enjoying cocktails and creating our candles. Learning about how to layer the scents was interesting and it was fun to see the different the scents we all chose. I can't give it a full 5 stars because no matter what we do we can't get our candles to burn as well as they should. We first heard about the Glassnote Candle Bar from watching a news story on CBS58. My social group is always looking for fun and different things to do. So I called Kevin back in April to set up a private event which we recently had. He accommodated our group of 40. Roni, the general manager, Addy, the bartender and Jaiden the Chandler were all excellent and best of all, they gave us a true fan experience. The Chandlers (leaders) walked us through the candle making process step by step. There are over 100 different scents and probably thousands of different combinations that you could make. Each member of our group had their own unique candle and no two candles were alike. Of course the stocked bar was an added benefit and they have plenty of themed drinks as well. What to say... beyond poor experience here. Made reservations three months in advance, got there and nothing was setup. Ordered drinks then waited a full hour before getting them. When we FINALLY got to make our candles, it took forever and we didn't even get take our candles home. After about a week we picked them up. I can honestly smell the match more than I can smell the candles. There's a really nice smell if you stick your candle directly to your nose. But don't expect to light it and have anyone show up and notice the fragrance. 1 out of 5, couldn't pay me to go back. Just go to target and buy a $10 candle then put on 3 hour movie and save yourself the headache/let down. read more
