I'm an addict....A Shabby Attic Addict!…read more I recently noticed a friend "liked" something on Facebook and I just had to check it out for myself. I immediately noticed something I thought I would like and took the 30 minute drive to check it out and bought it on the spot but was not prepared to take it home. I did pay for it and returned 2 days later to pick it up. I didn't even get into the front door to pick up my find and noticed a piece that she was just bringing in herself and bought it on the spot. She didn't even have it in the store! Now I have even more things to put into the SUV. The owner was so kind enough to help me load and even secure the load (I will return her bungee cords just so I have a new excuse to shop). These pieces are different and brings back a nostalgia feeling for me that reminds me of being in my Aunt's house when I was a child. Those pieces are now recycled, redesigned/repurposed and have a great eclectic design with paint, new hardware, or just repurposed. I found the pieces to be cool vintage - but not "shabby chic" of 10 years ago. You can even bring your old furniture and she will custom redesign it for you. There were pieces that had pieces added/removed and it looked like a new product with a new purpose. A museum of eccentric shabby chic AND reasonably priced. It's art.

Every where you look, the place is beyond filled with everything imaginable. Magazines, beautiful furniture, vintage decor, clothing, jewelry, trinkets, toys, collectibles...the quantity is truly amazing. The prices seem fair, some a little high but these items are mostly one of a kind. A very friendly lady, who was the owner of Barn Attic, made sure to offer help if needed and we were grateful ~ it is a huge place and there is so much merchandise, some being housed in boxes atop the display cases ~ there would be no way of knowing all the secrets this marvelous store keeps hidden unless asking.

I was quite upset to see a 1 star review for this business. This must be some kind of mistake!…read more FYI, this business temporarily shut down their retail sales end of their business for a moment, as they run a very successful custom furniture/design business. I am the fortunate construction designer that works with this husband and wife team on a weekly basis in my own business. Mari is the most talented and passionate paint artist I have ever met. She bends over backwards to accommodate the clients and does not know the words, it cannot be done. I bring project after project to her, each project unique in nature and with a hard deadline date attached. From the moment she takes on the project, she does nothing but perform! She makes endless samples for myself and my client, she sends endless pictures and videos keeping me in the loop and assuring I am satisfied every step of the way. To say this woman is dedicated and works hard, is an understatement! The same applies to her husband, who is a gifted furniture maker, and their son, Chris who does all the artwork, drawings and digital work. If you need furniture pieces or any type of custom woodwork, this is the family to call upon. They do not disappoint! I feel blessed to have them as my colleagues and partners in business. Their work speaks for itself.

Weeks later, when the store was not forthcoming with the insurance claim after UPS shipped and delivered my item damaged, Sam took it upon herself to help me expedite my claim by getting involved even though UPS guarantees shipping and she was not at all responsible for shipping, she immediately contacted the store manager to expedite the status of the claim I always say the testament of a great company is not how they handle things when they go as planned, but how they handle a situation that goes awry.
