This place is a hidden gem in Bergen county it has become the go place to for my grandson from the West coast to purchase all his baseball bats gloves and test all bats in the store. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful in their recommendations for the bat sizes and the use of it whether is traveling or Lttle league . Whenever we need a new bat for our kids, baseball or softball, we make the trek from LI to NJ to Closeout Bats. My kids have been playing sports for years, but my daughter has made softball her passion. Up until this last season we would go to Dicks Sporting Good for everything. A teammate's parent told us about Closeout Bats so we decided to try it out. Any softball / baseball parent knows that bats aren't cheap (pushing $500), so we were a little skeptical, but bought her bat there. The process was smooth, we were able to do pick up there and get her custom grip tape. Fast forward 3 months and her bat developed a rattle. We've had this before with an Easton Ghost and had to go through the hassle of finding a box to ship it back in (really, how many people have a box that can fit a bat???) pay for the return shipping and wait for the replacement. With her current bat, we stopped in at the shop to get some advice and not only did they replace the bat for her there (no manufacturer required) they also gave her other bats to choose from and a gift card for the difference between the original purchase price and the new bat because it was cheaper! My wife told me and I couldn't believe it. I thought that customer service like this was dead and gone, but fortunately, I was wrong. I can't say enough great things about CloseoutBats.com located in Westwood, NJ. From the wide selection to the customer service, the entire experience was just amazing. It happened to be my son's 12th birthday so they made him feel extra special while they assisted us. They sized him properly for the right bat and also asked him all the relevant questions regarding the type of league/tournaments he plays in to ensure he was making the correct choices. They were meticulous about the fit of his new fielding glove and are keeping it for a few days to ensure it's properly broken in/fitted. Wow... A friend turned me onto this place last year when it was time for my daughter to get her first composite bat. Since I've always believed that a bat, like a glove, needs to be in your hand for you to decide if you like it or not I decided to visit the storefront rather than buy online. Last year my daughter decided on an excellent bat, an Easton Stealth, then we got her two beater bats an Easton Synge for $59 and and Easton Synergy for $0.99. Last year I also got my son a new baseball bat here so it was a great trip. Went again this year for my daughter, who outgrew her bats from last year (of course) and this year she got a Demarini CF5...it was the demo bat, but the last one they had in her size and they gave it to me for half off. The guys that work here are all very knowledgeable about the equipment they sell. The bats are so cheap because they are last year's models (or older), but they are all brand new (except the demos of course) and still in the boxes. Since they are older models, they have what they have...don't wait too long to make your purchase or they WILL run out of the better bats and the more common sizes. I've told a bunch of friends about this place, but they seem to think paying full price somewhere else makes sense. I think they're nuts. I could not find the bat I was looking for in stock anywhere. Dicks Sporting goods didn't even list it as a bat they sell. I stumbled upon Closeout Bats after days of searching the web. They had the bat I was looking for but not in the size I wanted, but they did have a size that would work for my kid. I called with questions and they were helpful. I ordered 2 bats with closeout express over a holiday weekend. I received an email to confirm my order and another making me aware, due to the holiday the bats would go out the next business day. Come Tuesday (the next business day) the bats size I ordered was out of stock. Roy emailed me immediately. After I did not respond he tried calling me. I still did not respond so he sent a text. I appreciate the effort he made to contact me. Having the bats arrive before the weekend were very important. My kid needed a BBCOR bat before 1st game. In the end Roy helped me change my order. I got lucky, he had the original size I was looking for. The bats arrived here in CA a day early in perfect condition. I wish we had a store like Closeout Bats where I live. A friend had recommended Closeout Bats to me, and we purchased an expensive bat from them for my son's birthday. The original purchase was online, due to COVID. Despite the price, the bat we bought did not make it through 5 months (manufacturer issue, not theirs). Somewhat disheartened by the short lifespan of the expensive bat, I took my son there to get a new (less expensive) bat. I chalked the damage up to normal wear and tear, and did not expect it to be covered under any warranty. The customer service exceeded my expectations - instead of selling me a new bat, they worked with the manufacturer on our behalf to resolve it, at no additional cost to us. A great variation of wood and metal bats. Tons of choices to choose from ( it's like baseball heaven.) I was checking out the Wood Mookie Betts Axe bat, and loved it. The price is $219.50 in their store, but I checked the official Axe website. The price is $179.99. I talked to the owner and wouldn't go down a penny on their store price. I ordered a 2020 26oz Miken Freak Gold Bat which I needed for an upcoming tournament. I was even contacted about my purchase prior them shipping the bat because it was a gift for me and they were "concerned" about the integrity of the purchase because the billing name and address didn't match up to the shipping name and address (obviously because it was a gift). Upon receiving the bat I opened the box to find a bat that felt heavier than any other 26oz I've used or owned before (balanced or Maxloaded). Upon further inspection I noticed not only a tattered WORTH brand sticker on this MIKEN bat, but I also noticed scratch marks around the sticker that indicated tampering with the sticker. Sounds like a bait and switch. If I had to guess, I'd say they sold me a 26oz bat only to find out they were out of that weight so they attempted to pass off a heavier version of the same bat by replacing the sticker WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND AT THAT. I spoke to the owner Roy (The same guy who called about the billing and shipping name differences). He asked whose signature was on the packing receipt. He stated that it was their policy that whoever at Closeoutbats packs an order is required to sign the receipt they put in the box. Of course no name was on the receipt so he said he had a "good idea who packed my order"??????? Needless to say I had to get a refund. Unfortunately that left me without a bat for my tournament. This also makes me very uneasy about purchasing a bat in the future from an online third party reseller.....Let alone purchasing another bat from Closeoutbats.com read more
