Renee our server was friendly, informative, and a delight to engage with, during our afternoon tasting. We had an assortment of two Pinot's, 2023 Pinot Noir that was spicy and a deep rich color -Mindego Ridge Vineyard, and the 2024 has a blend of three Pinots. This varietal was light not as flavorful as the 2023 Pinot and slightly tannic. Their Chardonnay is barreled in French oak and has a fruit forward taste. The Nebbiolo was spicy, with a hint of sweetness and kinda sat on my palette. This is a thin skinned grape like the Pinot. The only white blend the 2023 Petraza from the Siletto Family Vineyard has a blend of 65% Falanghina, and 35% Greco Bianco. This varietal is more sweet and acidic. We were in their tasting room a few steps from their original one, that has magnificent views of the area. It was a clear day and I was able to see San Francisco. They offer outdoor and inside tasting, and the tasting fee is $45 for 5 wines.

Unfortunately, when we arrived we learned that the property had been rented out for a private event. We were never informed of the full buyout when we made our reservation. As a result, instead of being able to enjoy the grounds, we were seated in the front area next to the parking lot and essentially excluded from the part of the property that was a major reason we chose Thomas Fogarty in the first place. I completely understand hosting private events. What I don't understand is continuing to accept tasting reservations without clearly telling guests in advance that their experience will be significantly restricted. Had we been told, we simply would have chosen another winery for such an important occasion. The wine wasn't the issue. The problem was paying for and planning around a Thomas Fogarty winery experience and then arriving to discover that the experience we reasonably expected wasn't available and the service staff was rude and dismissive. For a normal afternoon this would have been disappointing. For a milestone 70th birthday that we specifically planned in advance, it was extremely frustrating. If the property is substantially unavailable because of a private buyout, customers holding tasting reservations deserve to know before they arrive.

The barn setting was very laidback, lotsa family history, and made the tasting experience a special one (minus all the flies, but we had cheese so I don't blame em'). At the time, they offered a Chardonnay tasting (4 wines) paired with an apricot goat cheese and crackers--didn't really care for the Chardonnays. Their regular tasting flight with 6 wines however, was rather enjoyable. It had a Rose, Chardonnay, 3 Pinot Noirs, and a Zinfandel. The Rose has become one of my favorites. It's smooth, flavorful, clean, not too tart, not too fruity, not too anything really, just overall super well balanced. I really like the Integrato Pinot Noir - well rounded Pinot Noir that I really like, making me appreciate Pinot Noirs even more. I feel like this is a great bottle to gift. Everyone here seems to love their job, which makes the experience that much better. Dogs are allowed, we met a few cuties. They offer cheese pairing with their wine flights, but that requires a reservation. Know that the wine tastings are not comped if you buy wine, howeverrrrrr, if you become a member like we did, tastings on them! This is my first wine club, and I am stoked to bring people here. Great atmosphere, great wine, local, friendly staff, dogs allowed outside, what more can I ask for? They also have a tasting room in Aptos that's quite nice. They had a couple wines opened that weren't offered at this location, so we bought more wines when we tasted there. ** Came back a couple months later to try their cheese pairing. It was good, but note that they are all goat cheese. We tried 3 different goat cheeses, fromage with honey, edible flower, and tomato basil spread, served with delicious crackers and some chocolate. Not sure if the wine+cheese tasting is worth $60, so there is a perk to becoming a member, you get the tasting free each quarter. You can also buy the cheese next door at the farm where they're produced. It seems more crowded on weekends, we were lucky to enjoy the upstairs loft space, twas beautiful. Again, very laidback, they drop off the wine flight in mini carafes and fill it up depending on how many people are tasting...then it's self pour.

We ended up walking in without a reservation, and they accommodated us right away. The setting is gorgeous, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating overlooking stunning views. Half of our group opted for tastings while the other half shared a bottle, and both were hits (bonus: they waive the tasting fee if you purchase two bottles!). Well, I am still considering it... Ambiance - Beautiful winery. And we were able to catch the early sunset during the winter hours. Huge indoor and outdoor space, my pictures do not do it justice. Two unisex restrooms on either side of the estate. Plenty of parking, well we did get here an hour before closing. Service - 5 stars, from the greeter to the person serving us at our tables. Price - $55 a bottle + generous tip. And of course we bought a few bottles to go. After fighting to try to pay, our friend won and would NOT let us pay/treat. So nice to have good friends!
