Part of tour group going around Ireland, we stopped into Cloch Ban pub for lunch. All-in-all, it was fine.
On a Thursday, around 12:30, a coach bus of us came. The inside was fairly large, easily accommodating us with plenty of tables, although I ended up grabbing a spot at the bar. There were a few employees taking orders, it took them a little extra time to get to my group at the bar, but they were courteous and very accommodating.
I sipped on a Bulmer's cider for a while until lunch arrived. I wasn't too hungry but I knew I needed something as dinner would be late, so I ordered their Homemade Vegetable Soup, which is served with a slice of brown bread, from their Starter's menu. This was exactly what I wanted for lunch! The soup itself is more of a puree rather than a broth. I loved the consistency and flavor though and it was the right temperature. The brown bread was perfect to mop up any leftover soup.
All-in-all, a fine experience at Cloch Ban. If I were to travel through Ireland and pass through here again, I'd be fine grabbing a meal and pint here for lunch. read more
