Summary: paid $795 for CW to fix my 2016 Wrangler's leaking roof; roof leaks worse than before, panels + bolts are now damaged. I brought my Jeep in for a diagnostic (leaking roof) in which they determined my seals on my hard top all needed to be replaced, even though I shared that I replaced the main seal already and that didn't help. They scheduled my appointment for a week or so later; on the morning of my appointment on my way out (I live 1.25 hours away), I called to see how long things would take, they shared the parts hadn't come in and they needed to reschedule. I took the day off of work, and if I wouldn't have called, I would have driven 2.5 hours that day for nothing--no ownership for their mistake, no apology--not off to a great start. I brought my Jeep in on the next appointment (12/10) at 9:30am, and then 2 hours later they said they were 'done.' They sprayed it down on a flat surface and found no leaks; I asked them to do it at an angle because that's how I usually park, and they 'didn't have anything in the shop to do that'. I leave, as soon as I hit a hill water pours in. I bring it back, they then say it's actually a missing plastic grommet ($12/3 days of waiting for the part) and not the $795 fix I paid for. After asking them to try harder (I didn't want to wait days and take another day off of work) they DIY'd a rubber bumper--still leaks. The final 'fix' was using silicon to glue the panels shut. I asked if I would be eating that $795 for a $5 fix, and they said 'well , we're not eating it.' As I left again and hit a hill, water poured in. The reasoning? "It's a Jeep, Jeeps leak." No apology, no understanding, no refund of any kind, ZERO customer service. I left at 12:35pm (3 hours total), and now after a day of rain, have a Jeep that leaks worse than before, with panels that are siliconed together. They left my interior panels dirty/oily on the inside, with scratches on the sides where they had set them on the pavement. They also left deep scratches in my plastic interior bolts because they used a metal wrench on the plastic (photo attached). They're like $15/ea, but the principal of not caring about damaging my vehicle left me less than happy. I'm not sure why I was treated this way, but my tip to Cloakworks is: don't take on jobs that you don't want to do/don't have the skillset for and don't be in the business of customer service if you don't know how to provide it. Embarrassed that I put my trust in this business that is clearly just trying to take advantage of people. Included are photos of the damaged bolts, leaking, and the very wet invoice. BBB has been contacted, but I recommend choosing almost anywhere else to get work done. read more

Well here we are September 1922 and I've still never been able to use my jeep I think we're over two years Scott change the engine on the hemi swap still won't run right so I have finally given up I don't know how many time I'm expected to bring it back but it's never right so what is the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result that's how I feel at this point I give up and I'm going to send it out to see if somebody else can diagnose it first the engine he purchased was bad the second one still won't run right he thought it was the transmission so I put a new transmission in it So I decided to upgrade it to an eight speed and that was a waste Spent a lot more money I hate to do it and I'm not that kind of person but it's going to end up now into litigations.... read more

we'll a year later after I purchase my jeep it was time for a lift kit and so many choices to make out there. So the first thing I did when I purchase my jeep was to get a budget lift from 4wd and I was clueless on lifts. Join a group and learn so much about off roading with friends and what lifts they had, their con / pro experience with their lifts and so on. There were only 3 lift kits out there that had my attention. By far I think I made the best decision and went with MetalCloak and I'm very happy how it came out. Met with Eric Instal went great. I dropped it off Friday morning and had it by end of shop hours. Wheeled it on Saturday and it performed awesome! I had a very minor fix necessary for my Jeep's convertible top, which I thought would be a warranty issue. After two visits and hours at the dealership service center, I was told it wasn't under warranty and would be $550 to repair. I called up Cloakworks. They got me in early the following week for what I thought would be just to look and give me an estimate. But they decided it was an easy fix and I was out the door about an hour later with everything done! No new appointment required, charged me for labor only, and I was able to just sit and get some work done while I waited. Their new facility in Placerville is great as well. They also did my lift, bumpers, back tire carrier a few years ago - fabulous then as well - by the way. read more

For the first time in my life I decided to make the trip to Cloakworks to have a full system, gears, and driveshaft installed. I scheduled this a couple weeks in advance and made sure Scott know my time constraints and I was assured they would have plenty of time to get everything installed. We scheduled (and charged me) two days of shop time; come to find out they didn't even start until the 2nd day and they were not sure it would all get done. They scrambled but complained about it until very late in the day. This is not quality customer service. Also, I was told there would be a discount on parts for not only military but not having to ship the parts (literally shared warehouse space). This was not true either. Be prepared to pay full price for parts and two days of labor. I won't make this mistake twice. read more

I live 500+ miles away (in Los Angeles) and commuted round trip to have them mod my Jeep. Can NOT find one fault with them... I have had at least 3 different iterations of lift kits on my jeep tj. All installed by yours truely, and served me well but always with some issues. I liked the metalcloak design and decided to pull the trigger and have cloakworks install the system for me. I told Scott to make recommendations if he sees something that should be done, and without upselling at all, I ended up with a car that drives awesome on the road, and i am sure i will not be disappointed on the trail. I'm very pleased with the work done by Cloakworks and the quality of the products offered by MetalCloak. FYI, this could get lengthy.... On my most recent JLUR I've had a few different versions of lifts and shocks installed prior to coming to Cloakworks. I wasn't really pleased with the way my Jeep handled, it just never felt quite rite on road or off. So I called and spoke with Scott a few different times, picked his brain, asked many questions and I really liked his approach and recommendations. A week later I visited Cloakworks in person and met with Scott and ordered up new springs, shocks, sway links, HD tie rod and stabilizer and set up a time for the install. Upon arrival for my appointment everything was ready to go, went over a few details and request, and they immediately got started. Scott kept me posted throughout the process and during the day giving me a heads up on expected completion, nicely done! Having worked as a service advisor in the automotive industry for 16 years, this is how it should be done, excellent customer service and follow up, thanks Scott! I arrived and picked up my Jeep, Scott went over everything with me in great detail and off I went. I could immediately tell this was how I wanted my Jeep to feel and drive, it's amazing and such a world of difference from other lifts I've had. When I had my front bumper put on they scratched my front grille pretty bad and never made it right. Also, when installing my back bumper's rack, they installed the aluminum plates for the Jerry can holders upside down. The problem is that they had to drill holes in the aluminum plates, so when I took them off and turned them the right way I had to drill new holes. So now I've got 4 holes in my aluminum rack and it pisses me off. And again, they never made it right. Both times I brought this to their attention and they didn't really seem to care.
