However, my dog was very happy after the grooming treatment (and embarrassingly so) ran back to the groomer after she brought him out. The staff are also extremely friendly! I asked them not to make him too fluffy, but he did come out pretty darn fluffy. Albeit he looked adorable and smelled great. Even though I've moved out of Carrboro, I would go again!

When I picked him up, I didn't recognize my dog (before and after pictures for reference). He was shaved to the skin and they even nicked his neck because they cut so close. I brush and comb him regularly, so matting was not an issue. The staff was incredibly rude and dismissive of my concerns, showing a complete lack of care for my dog's well-being. This experience was truly upsetting, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you care about your pet and want a grooming service that listens to your instructions and treats your pet with respect, avoid this place at all costs.

The best part of our experience has been that the staff at Petropolitan are happy to work with us even though our pup is anxious around other dogs. Chain pet store groomers have turned us away because of that, but Petropolitan has always done a great job of reassuring us that they would be able to handle our dog. The staff has a note card with all of our dog's information written on it, so they know his needs at each appointment. We have worked mostly with Tina and once with Diane. Both have done a great job - they make sure to understand what we want (length of hair, shape of tail, etc.) and they deliver exactly what we ask. Most recently our dog came home with a cute holiday bandana!! The prices are very fair - comparable to what we used to pay at chain pet store groomers, but with far better service. A couple things to note: (1) Because Petropolitan is a small business, they only accept cash or check. (2) Their schedule fills up very quickly (~a month in advance). If you're looking to schedule an appointment, be sure to call in ASAP! We are happy to support this small business and will continue to do so.

Ella actually commented on my post on Nextdoor pleading for recommendations for a groomer who will allow the owner to be at the appt. I was so impressed that she took the time to proactively reach out to me. I had seen Pittsboro Pups highly recommended on Nextdoor. After being rejected immediately by another groomer who had previously left a salon to go out on her own, I figured Ella wouldn't entertain difficult dogs or owners in her new salon( which I wouldn't blame her in a new business). But I was wrong! She is truly an angel! I was honest and explained cashew May bite but I hold him. She said she was willing to try it! She has a calm, sweet energy and is very gentle with dogs. She did an excellent grooming of cashew regardless of the limitations she had because I had to hold him. She's extremely attentive to what your requests are for grooming and what you want for your dog. The best thing about her salon is currently, she is taking one dog family at a time! You can drop your dog off and when she's done come pick him up. Instead of leaving him waiting in a cage all day. Her salon is clean, safe and very professional. Great easy drop off/pick up location with close parking. Her space is next to Willie's cinnamon rolls. Her rates are extremely affordable. She should charge more in my opinion. If you don't love your groomer now, book with Ella at Pittsboro Pups. She's what pittsboro needed for professional dog grooming and I'm so lucky to have found her!
