Well heck, why not? This place is lush. Mature landscape, recently added bike paths, a BMX track that someone I know personally had voluntarily helped maintain. I hear this part of the park gets lots of attention. Since I don't live in this area and the habitat is quite different from where I call home I feel like I'm in a whole new place from what I remember. What is missing is the original pieces on the playground. Seriously, where is the thing that you sit on and someone pushes it in circles until you feel like you're gonna fly off because of the centrifugal force. And the swings? Why were those things removed. Was interesting to learn some of the history of how this place came to be. Huge Sugar Maples and Oak trees, wild Strawberries, crazy amounts of lush Moss, Plantain, and other various cover that blanket the ground under that canopy. Beautiful escape from the crazy that is life. A place to tune out and get grounded. Literally. Just take off your shoes. MI residents, you're lucky to have this park. Treat it well.

There are two entrances to the falls. I would suggest go to the Branch Road entrance is closer to the falls. The one located near Bray Road is more area for the fishing. The fall is cascading down the step like stepping stone which match the name of the attraction. I like it multiple falls section which make it unique. It has several photo spot. Great to have it.

Where we parked there was a path to get to the falls. They are not really falls, just a man made dam with concrete steps on several levels to check out the water. I could see people were able to have canoes on the lake and there was a beach and playground off to the distance on the other side. Another part of the park maybe? A lot of people were walking around with their kids or come go fishing. So it was a nice family area. I realize I am more of a resort pool with a lazy river girly, so I am not in love with the many swarms of gnats but that is me. If you are outdoorsy, this is a nice place to visit. It is like a small Greenfield Village, but smaller and way less expensive, except for the train, which is a bit pricey, but they ride is quite long. Not too many places for kids to eat during the field trip, so that was a downfall. I would have liked to have looked around the ice cream and treat area, sounded yummy. Most of the kids liked the train ride, but it was a bit long for the littles, they got bored. I enjoyed going around the area, it was fun for me. The kids then got to see a comedy magic show. They absolutely loved it, I have never heard small children laugh out loud so much, so please let the gentleman in the picture who performed know he now has many new fans. We were able to walk around about two small buildings before we had to leave, so I did not get to see much more. My child enjoyed our time there and would like to visit again. For me, it was fun, but I don't know if I need to come back except if my other child wants to check it out.

The Southern Links Trailway is a 10.2 mile long asphalt paved trail that connects the communities…read moreof Columbiaville, Otter Lake, and Millington. The trail is well maintained trails and offers a safe and scenic biking, hiking and horseback riding destination to the areas. The trail has markers every 1/4 mile which is great way to track your distance traveled and perhaps to encourage you to go just a little further or even motivate you to try to complete a full loop (20+ miles)! Each of the adjoining cities have parking areas at the trailheads. Parking in Columbiaville is off of Water Street between the Columbiaville Branch Library and Curley's Lakehouse Grill. The trailway in Otter Lake is close to the midpoint and also the high elevation point of the path. This is also the location of the Otter Lake Recreational Area Skate Park. A small area with wooded ramps for bikers and skateboarders. Also nearby is a Marathon Gas Station and Otter Lake Pizza. Park between Payne Street and Detroit Street, just south east of where Lake Road crosses the trail. The Millington trailhead parking area is on at the south east end of Gleason Street about two blocks south of Main Street past Cardinal Drive. Keep looking it's there. The trail does not allow motorized vehicles. Horses are also allowed along the trail, but should follow the easements adjacent to the pavement when available. Go, have fun!

We have new directors and management and the entire place has been changed. So many details (like cleaning and repairs) that had been neglected are now being handled. The campground is cleaner and more well cared for than ever before. And a whole lot of new "stuff" like mini golf and the zip line and climbing tower are all free and included in the camping fees now,. Its been an amazing summer here and I hope more people will decide to come check it out.

Recently planned a meet up at Wilderness trails zoo with some family. It had been a few years since…read moreany of us have been there, and seeing it now, with many renovations completed, it looks fantastic, and functions with a much better flow. The entrance, and gift shop, is easily 4 times it's original size; and they always have the cutest collection of plushes. The grounds, and habitats appeared well maintained. The animals were all quite active, playful, and seemed to be healthy; the petting farm area is always a must stop when you visit. The staff are great too; friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The zoo now offers animal experiences for an extra fee, which can be purchased online or at the entrance, adding a more private element of fun. I will say though, I was really bummed that the Rainforest area was now only open as an "experience" purchase. Years ago it was easily my favorite exhibit, but unfortunately is now out of my price range, especially for a family (as I found the experience costs to be a bit high), so we were unable to see it. Overall we all really enjoyed our outing at the Wilderness Trails Zoo. They did a great job keeping the walk area around the zoo shaded, you could find animal feeding stations and hand sanitizer in many locations, seating widely available, a picnic/eating area, prepackaged ice cream bars/dippin dots in store, children's playground, clean restrooms, and plenty of parking available as you first arrive. This zoo is definitely worth the visit, and I'm sure I'll be having another day trip here again soon.

Booked a lemur encounter here with the ruffed lemurs. It was nothing short of amazing! We got to go…read moreinto the cage with Marshmallow and Smores the lemurs. Got to feed them and one had a grand ole time licking my feet. The rest of the zoo was very neat. You can buy cups of carrots to feed other animals as well. I also saw an animal here that I had never seen before, a Zorse. They are beautiful and loved the carrots!
