The bathrooms and locker rooms are well-designed and clean, and the co-ed sauna and steam room are a major plus. SweatBox is intense, well-structured, and thoughtfully run. The music and variety keep me coming back. Providing ear plugs and cold eucalyptus towels are the many small touches that go a long way during this high-energy HIIT workout. Coach Gwen and Coach Mike are excellent instructors -- clear, motivating, and attentive to form. There are 3 other class studios and dozens of more fitness classes. I have enjoyed the yoga classes, especially Restorative and Deep Stretch. Chris also runs a great BodyPump class -- strong pacing and consistent energy. Overall, VIDA Ballston combines diverse programming with quality facilities and good service. Yes things break or require maintenance, but the team is constantly communicating this and working to upkeep their facility. Highly recommend!

This gym charges way above market rate for a luxury gym. Don't get me wrong - the gym has super nice equipment, great staff, a cold plunge (very small though), and a hot tub. My issue with this location is for the price that you pay, I would expect the following three things: 1. A nice pool - for the price, I would expect at least an indoor lap pool and even an outdoor rooftop pool. For a lifetime that is supposed to be the highest tier, it should have all of the bells and whistles. 2. Less people at the gym: It is crazy how packed this gym gets. I understand that the location is central in Clarendon but you shouldn't have to wait for equipment when you're paying hundreds of dollars a month. 3. Multiple sport courts: For the price you pay, you should be getting full scale courts such as pickleball, basketball, tennis, etc. This gym should be a luxury club with full scale amenities. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who used to be a Lifetime member, and I have been to 5+ Lifetime locations including ones in the same tier as Clarendon. I remember I paid way less and had the luxury of a pool/never having to wait for equipment.

The mens locker room is large, luxurious, and stocked with essentials like towels, razors, mouthwash, and other toiletries. The cold spa is a little small, with an occupancy of 4, but the hot tub spa can probably fit 5-10 people. The staff are all great and helpful. The gym is cleaned very well and often. In terms of the equipment there is pretty much everything you could want. There is a tank sled, about 12-15 platforms (many are taken for classes however), bumper plates, SSB, trap bar, football bar, an assortment of machines with the main provider technogym. Cardio equipment looks mostly standard to me, treadmills, stair stepper, assault bikes, stationary bikes, ellipticals. In the specialty equipment realm this gym has a belt squat machine, which is definitely cool to see. There are not really any cons to this gym, even the parking really isnt that bad. the garages are typically not even 50% full when ive gone. Clarendon lifetime is a luxury gym that comes at a luxury+ price. i dont think you can join this gym for less than 250/month which is definitely top of market.

Also another time I asked if he could quickly show me how to safely use a new machine and he refused saying I had to book a paid session for that. I later got injured on that machine and had a couple of near misses. Also in the steam room it's not obvious where the steam comes out so if you sit in the wrong place you can burn your ankles.

Everything is cleaner, brighter, and much more modern, which makes a huge difference in the overall workout experience. The layout is also much more functional now, with designated areas that make it easy to move through your workout without feeling cramped. Pretty stoked about this place…read more I've seen a number of gyms and trainers off/on over the years, but this team has it *dialed in*, in all directions. Method Fitness business communication is absolutely professional -- from person-to-person communication, to email, to text alerts/reminders, even being greeted at door, it's all easy, correct, and smooth. My intake interview alone basically "sold" me -- Mateo and talked a lot, I unloaded a ton of stuff about details and goals and issues, and he heard every damn word and absolutely nothing was missed. Zero. He then rolled it into a perfect trainer selection for me. No surprises. I get text reminders about the sessions, and all the staff work together as a team, as a single team, from the moment you walk in the door. The facilities are perfect for meeting fitness goals. It's not a zoo of machines and noise and clutter and random people. There's plenty of space and all the right tools are there. There may be few other people there during my time slot, I feel like my trainer and I 'own' the the whole gym. No waiting for anything. No distractions, no wasted time. Where Method *really* shines is the quality of their programming. I came in with all sorts of history, glitches, ideas, and goals, but they surprised me with more. My beastly and superb trainer, Jack Walter, pays laser attention and is addressing stuff in *hours* that I had not fully seen, and uncovers things I never even noticed! And then he immediately finds a way to address it. The excitement of "actually getting somewhere" is real. These Method guys are *not* picking some rando workout plan out of a hat: it's absolutely tailored. I can't tell you how encouraging this is and how much hope it builds. For older folks, they put a special eye on mobility, injuries, and chronic issues and then target them for fixes. Speaking of workout plan -- I didn't know Method, and they didn't know me, and they had the steady professional foresight to schedule in a few "figure things out" sessions to see where I was, and how I responded to training before -- I repeat, before -- starting a regular routine. This way, they know the regular plan will address my particular needs, and that I'll respond to it successfully. Like I said: Absolutely Professional. Short Story, this is all after just a few weeks. I walked into this place thinking "OK, I'll try a handful of sessions" ....and now? My weights are going up every time. My flexibility and stability are improving. And I feel like I am going to be like the other people we see in the comments who go long and deep with this team. Really hope to see you in the gym! Get in for the free consult! All the best to your success!

I ended up choosing Gold's Gym because of price and the fact it has a sauna. Though it sucks that unlike Planet Fitness, Gold's Gym isn't 24hrs. Which is a shame because this place is almost always crowded unless you go before the crack of dawn, which is what I decided to do. I would go in sooner but they don't open until 5am on the weekdays and I have work at 6:30am. I feel that there's an appetite personally to have this gym open 24hrs personally. I do like that there's free parking and compared to the Gold's Gym in Claredon, this location is leagues better. There is also a sauna which is great and there's 3 main floors that offer different options to do your workout. Towels are available but you need to ask front desk for one which feels like a pain. I feel they could just leave the towels somewhere in the locker room but they don't but that seems like an easy fix especially considering that there's a bin for the dirty towels to go.

But now for the last 6 months or so I notice dust and dirt on either side of belt of all treadmills as well as in the exercise room. I have mentioned this to the front desk staff as well as their manager and also done a survey. The manager responded to my 2nd email when I had asked for his manager's contact and then said he will take care of the issue. But that has not happened. A lady who responded to my negative survey on email said dust and dirt on treadmills will be taken care of. I replied to that email that it has not been. It has been months. It is a health hazard in my opinion when you are using the treadmill and there is dust and dirt (from it not being cleaned on a daily or even a weekly basis) near the belt.

This Arlington PF is a little smaller feeling than the others I've visited (to date 5 in VA and 1in FL) but one of the cleanest I've visited. The locker room is clean to include the shower and the shower head is high to accommodate tall ppl. And the lockers were nice w a good mix of small and long versions. I checked out a bunch of other gyms such as OrangeTheory (2…read morelocations), Gold's and Fitness Together in Georgetown, and Ambitious Athletics downtown closer to my work. I did my homework! These other gyms were all different versions of just okay for my needs, although I will note that Ambitious Athletics is well-run and a solid choice, and Fitness Together is lovely if you have big $$ and don't mind a perky trainer who blows smoke about your nonexistent skills, as though you were The Rock. Still, nothing really made me feel like I had found the place until I landed on Anytime Fitness. Traffic and parking: Other posters have mentioned the parking problem, and it's true, so you should make another plan. I take Metro from my job downtown, and the gym is close enough to the Rosslyn stop for an easy walk. If you drive you could try doing Park and Ride from a different stop that has a parking lot. Music: Gym, Uber, and coffee shop music has always been a sore spot for me, because I dislike most pop music lists (especially gack 80s) and most usually play it too loud. This gym keeps a pleasant club track without lyrics rolling, kind of like going to Ibiza or Mallorca but for regular people, and it doesn't trigger me as much as typical dreck coming out of overhead speaker these days. It's decent and I can ignore it, or use the rhythm to synch a machine workout. I may invest in some earbuds for my own music, but for now this is a-ok. Trainers: I'm super picky about trainers because I want someone who is friendly but not nosy, and personable without oversharing. I also don't want to be praised all the time! Some people need a lot of high-fives and good-jobs, but that feels like BS to me. I just want to work with someone who knows what they are doing, be challenged, have some quiet chitchat that isn't too deep, and leave. I think the quality of the personal training is first rate here. Equipment: It is all clean, functions well, and there is a variety between machine systems and free weights. Bathrooms and showers are clean. I almost always bring my own towel, but I forgot it once and their towels were fine (and free!). Overall it was the best I found in the region, and although I wanted a spot in DC, I don't mind hopping on Metro to visit Virginia once in a while and go here. I hope this review helps them get more clients, because it seems quiet most times that I'm there. Obviously I don't want to have to wait for machines, either, but they could use a few more folks to ensure that it keeps running for many years to come.
