When I was forced to part ways with Deshaye, I was 210 lbs (without closely watching my diet) and had vastly improved my cardiovascular health and my muscle tone. Thanks, Deshaye!

I came over the bridge to give Method Room a try and was surprised to realize it's more of a…read moreSolidcore esque workout than a traditional Pilates reformer class. I love SC so to me this wasn't necessarily a bad thing but do keep in mind this class pushes you to muscle failure rather than focus fully on Pilates form. I came for a 430 Ariana Grande class and didn't realize they don't really have a "waiting" area since they keep the doors to the room locked. They have one restroom available and then you just leave your shoes out in the open. The studio itself is gorgeous and has such great natural lighting. Check in was easy and my instructor was very helpful in explaining the machine and the class. The class itself was about 80% similar to SC with maybe a little traditional Pilates and some stretching. A hard and good workout but wasn't what I thought it would be but still enjoyed it. The class is around 40-45 minutes so you don't get as long of a class for the money. They didn't play any Ariana Grande which was a bummer since I looked forward to the theme. Overall clean and aesthetic studio but very similar to studios I'm already a member of and with slightly less amenity space, I am not sure which is a better bang for your buck.

Yoga Hikes DC was AWESOME!…read more Perfect combination of nature, yoga and trails. Danielle is an excellent instructor in articulating moves and proper form (adjusting you when needed), and she allows for the session to be adaptable to however intense you want it to be (eg. running up the hill or walking it). And most of all, she is FUN!

What a fantastic way to start the weekend!…read more I went on my second yoga hike today with Rachel, and while I already knew she was a wonderful teacher from practicing with her at Stroga, her energy, warmth, and humor are such a breath of fresh air on these yoga hikes. She provides excellent tips for both the hiking and yoga portions, and always encourages everyone on the hike to ask questions and really treat it as an opportunity to get one-on-one attention throughout the practice and the hike. She is also just so much fun! I HIGHLY recommend yoga hikes for a great workout (the hiking moves at a brisk pace, and it really keeps you warmed up for the yoga portions) that is both social and beautiful--what better place to do tree pose than under a tree in Rock Creek?! And, of course, shoutout to Squeaky the Frog, who really makes the trip. Take advantage of the amazing resource that is Rock Creek Park, and go on a Yoga Hike! It's just the best way to start the day.

They have plenty of cardio machines with two stairmasters, quite a bit of treadmills, and several elliptical machines. I usually always get access to a squat rack as they have five racks. They do a lot of classes here, including Pilates, yoga, cycling, HIIT, etc. I haven't been able to attend one yet but from what I have seen, they look good. The price is a little steep, but I love that this gym isn't always fully packed. It's small but mighty. My favorite touch is that they offer a minty cold wet towel for you to cool off with and have a coffee machine if you need a little boost after your workout.

I would go every single day if I could! The instructors are knowledgeable, welcoming, and give you a GREAT work out at low impact. It's the first time in a long time that I actually get excited and look forward to working out!!! I would shout out my favorite teachers but I would basically be listing the entire Potomac Pilates staff! Over the past 9 months I've lost 11 pounds and the only thing I've been doing differently is Pilates, so I'm proof, it really works!!! I was concerned my new job would get in the way of my Pilates schedule but because they have early morning and late evening classes I am still able to squeeze a class in before or after work which I'm so grateful for. It's the perfect way to start or end my day, Potomac Pilates is my happy place. I love Potomac Pilates! Definitely worth the cost.

This studio is an absolute joke…read more If you actually want a legitimate Pilates workout I would highly recommend taking your time, bandwidth, and $50 (if you factor the class and transportation/parking) elsewhere. There's zero value unless you're a senior citizen and want to stretch for an hour with a instructor who just likes to hear herself talk. There's NO workout experience and the so called workout is like going to a intro class for a stretch session on a reformer with an instructor who has zero regard for you wanting to sweat or actually do work. Not to mention there's zero front desk, no reply to communication, and worst of the there isn't the slightest bit of a welcoming environment. Location is also poor and hidden. If you have a strong background in Pilates, be it: reformer, mat, even lagree, you will leave frustrated. I've taken classes in major cities that do not even have the slightest bit of entitlement that I experienced from the rude instructor 'lead trainer' here. What a shame.

I love working out on this track! Situated in a beautiful neighborhood, and surrounded by trees, it…read moreis a very peaceful spot. I am so happy that this track has been opened to the public so that the community can enjoy it. Pros: Accessibility: For folks living in the Georgetown and Glover park area, this track is easily accessible on foot! There are plenty of parking spaces (should you have the appropriate permit) surrounding the track as well. The track is near Georgetown, and GU's Medical center, and also close to the international high school and Duke Ellington. Shade: For much of the day, the trees surrounding the track provide a gentle breeze and nice shade cover as well. Field: There is a natural grass field inside the track -- it appears to be well-maintained, and healthy. Folks often lift weights on the field, or bring along a football or soccer ball, to play a bit with friends. There are some goal posts (for football) and some soccer goals on the field, as well as some hurdles that you can practice jumping over. Not too busy: The track never feels overwhelmingly busy to me, which is great. I think the most I have seen on it is about 15 people at a time. Most folks are respectful, and stay in a certain lane to avoid cutting runners off or clogging up the track. The folks I have noticed frequenting this track range from high school students, to families with young children, to young folks trying to get a workout in (this is me!) to vibrant senior citizens! It seems to be a very welcoming place for all! Other: Size: I believe that this track is a bit smaller than the standard track-- I have been told that in order to travel one mile on it, you need to go around it 5 times, versus the usual 4 times on larger tracks. Dogs: A lot of folks bring dogs to this track, and let them play in the field. While technically I believe they are supposed to be on leash, many folks take them off. This doesn't bother me, as I love dogs and see folks cleaning up after their pets here, but if you are scared of dogs or do not like them, this might be worth considering!
