"PROJECT ABANDONMENT"
Project Size: Exceeding $150K
Prior to selecting Climbing Vine Gardens, we did our due diligence and contacted 3 references. Owner, Dan Deranleau, claimed he has never been asked before to provide reference which we should have taken that as a red flag. At the time we did not question it as he did provide it and he was referred by an emergency restoration company. The initial client experience was positive and the landscape design meet expectation.
Project began August 2015 with a commitment to complete in 2 months. There were multiple delays with the first being weather and Christmas lights season for his regular contracted clients. We were understanding and accommodated the delay and commitment was given that once spring came around his crew would be on site to finish the work. The crew did arrive on site and did some additional work after numerous follow up. The delays continued with shortage of staff, staff turnover, weather, illness with extended family, could not find qualify sub-trade to conduct the work. Multiple failure to meet deadline set by Dan himself lead us to issue a demand letter. Again, Dan did not comply and now a claim has been filed at small claims court.
To add insult to injury, one of the sub trade advised in July 2016 that a lien would be placed on our home if they did not received payment from Climbing Vine Gardens. As of October, the bill still remains outstanding.
