Sugarloaf Estates Apartments - Venting fan in the bathroom

    Sugarloaf Estates Apartments

(To be updated: Kellie agreed to visit one final time, at least to acknowledge that I'm not…read moreimagining the issue. ) Extremely frustrated. I moved in late May, and ever since, I've been dealing with a terrible odor issue in my bathroom. It took me weeks to realize the smell was coming from the vent, not from my unit, but likely from upstairs. Even when I didn't use the shower or fan, the smell came randomly. I reported it again and again. Maintenance showed up multiple times. First to clean the vent, then to install a missing flap (which is supposed to stop outside air from coming in). It didn't solve the problem. I asked the leasing office staff, Brooke and Abigael, to come check. The first time, they didn't smell it because I had the door open - It takes time for me to walk to leasing office and walk them back. The next time, Abigael smelled it. Still, no one followed up. I had to do all the chasing. I spoke with the upstairs neighbor and even smelled it in their unit. I called again. Brooke came but again couldn't smell anything because the fan was on on my unit (we missed this step). I turned it off after she left, and boom--the smell came back strong. Even the upstairs neighbor came to smell it and admitted it wasn't from my unit. I talked to Brooke again. Eventually, maintenance claimed they fixed the flap upstairs, but guess what? The smell is still there. When I called again, they said they've done everything and even suggested I go to the Board of Health. What?? You haven't even properly investigated! I was the one identifying the smell, following up, talking to neighbors, inviting staff again and again. You just showed up and waited for me to give you the next guess. Then Brooke had the nerve to say she's never had such complaints before, even implied it's just my problem. Excuse me?? When I finally spoke to another manager (Kellie), hoping to be heard, her first response was: Do you want to break your lease? That's your solution? They keep talking about their efforts, but never once acknowledged how much time, energy, and stress this has caused me. After two months, the problem is still there. That says everything.

I would not live here again. Throughout all of this fall, wasps managed to make their way into my…read moreunit even after maintenance replaced the window screen. I swear there was a nest inside my window or something. They will text you in the winter to close your window if they see it open. This seems overboard as sometimes you have to air that food smell out of your apartment. my window had been open 20 minutes, when I received a text telling me to shut it. Cool, so what do they have a maintenance man watching my window 24/7? Also, CONSTANT water shutoffs. I swear at least once a week they will shut the water off at the most inconvenient times (usually in the morning when people are showering, eating breakfast, getting ready for the day) You'll sometimes get a text that they're shutting the water off, maybe an hour before they do it, but there's no guarantee. These people are militant, snappy, and also lied to me about the original price of the rent. Abigail specifically told us that the price of our unit would be around $350 less than it actually ended up being. Management are swindlers, High key.

Their maintenance of the property is outstanding! Not only are the lawns cut regularly, but today the maintenance crew were gathering up leaves with a leaf blower. Now, keep in mind, between the 3 buildings the property is well over the length of a football field and just as much wide. So we're talking thousands of leaves here. The time and effort put in to this shows just how much Witman Properties cares! The rent is really reasonable and the heating system (baseboard) is phenomenal! I have been in other homes and apartments with other heating systems and I have to say this is the best system I've seen and it has zone controls for each room! The people running this company are fantastic! When I first got here, the lights in the hallway of my building were out, so I put in a maintenance request thinking, oh, it'll be a while before they do anything. Uhhh...No! Those lights was fixed the next day. Witman properties sent put an electrician to fix whatever issue those lights had. And speaking of lights, the property is well lit all the way around all the buildings. Which is a nice thing when I walk my dog. Yes, they allow dogs and cats. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone thinking of renting an apartment from this company! I know I will be here a long time, that's for sure!

I emailed through Yelp and we set up a time for a regular cleaning of my 2 bedroom,2 bath, living room/kitchen apartment. Included was supposed to be the living room windows. Jason, the cleaner, arrived 15 minutes late, but began cleaning soon after. First the kitchen: he mopped the floor with what must have been a dirty rag because after the house was cleaned we found what looked like a shredded black cloth and hundreds of tiny threads all over the apartment. The kitchen sink was never cleaned at all. All of the surfaces must have been cleaned with the same product because it left a streaky oily mess on top of the counters, from the counters to the glass topped coffee table to the piano. All different surfaces, the same oily mess. The wood floor was gritty and when I rubbed a paper towel on the floor in a few places it was nowhere near clean. Impossible to walk on in bare feet. The toilets were half way clean, but certainly not professionally. The countertops oily and the showers and tub were never touched. Not at all! They were dry as a bone. The mirrors were never touched. Less than half of the windows we contracted for were cleaned. In emails back and forth later, the cleaner said a table was in the way and couldn't get to the windows. One dining chair would have needed to be moved in order to get to the windows. He said there were things on the table and he couldn't clean the windows. The vacuum was a wet/dry shop vac.! Jason left at 11:30, less than 3 hours. For this we were expected to pay $310! Very expensive. Jason told us the fee was $370. When he returned to the office, he was told it was $310. We were informed by the owner that we get back $60. She was unable to send a check or drop off the cash. I told her I would come to her but she never told me the place or time. Extremely disappointing. We were never offered a refund, but were told the cleaner could come back and finish, but it would cost us more. I've never written such a bad review. I don't enjoy it, but I am very angry now. I have copies of the correspondence sent back and forth if anyone would like a copy. Wish I could rate this place no stars at all.
