The good news is that The Hamilton Mercantile has risen from the ashes of the old general store, and it's a welcome breath of fresh air in a town that needs it. It's clean! And bright! They have nice tables! And since it's pretty much the only game in town for a lot of things, I'm glad they have tons of grocery staples (eggs, milk, butter, beer, hard seltzers, bread, canned food, peanut butter), toiletries, ice, candy, ice cream, and more. They've got lots of camping supplies, such as s'mores ingredients, propane, wood, camping chairs, charcoal, fishing gear, hand warmers, tarps, bug spray, matches, etc, as well as toiletries and tylenol and toys and floaties and charging cords and clothing and gifts and a lot of other things you never knew you needed. I'm particularly happy that they have Boar's Head meat that they sell by the pound, as well as make sandwiches. A girl eating at one of the cute little tables had herself a good-looking breakfast sandwich too, and there's also a pretty extensive pizza and wings menu now too. Haven't had the pleasure of eating any of those yet, but I'm sure it'll happen soon. Best of all, they sell lottery tickets. The lady running things highly recommended the Chicken Philly (the kid with her seemed too nervous to recommend anything), and we also got a bacon egg and cheese (SPK). Both folks behind the counter were so friendly, and during the 15 minutes or so we waited for our sandwiches, we were the only people they didn't greet by name. They obviously have a number of regulars, and it's no wonder, because the sandwiches were great. I actually thought the BEC was outstanding, and better than the Chicken Philly. In addition to good sandwiches, they've got local pies for sale, all the chips and drinks you'd ever want, and tables inside and out if you decide not to take your food home with you.
