We literally felt like we were on the top of the world: a once in a lifetime experience. Beats the hell out of back packing i and up, which is the only way to otherwise see these places. When I told my wife I wanted to rent a jeep, she exclaimed "why should we do that, we're not gonna see anything different than we haven't already seen on the Million Dollar Highway. Well, humble pie ate. The owner has been in business along time, yet was so patient and gracious as if he had just started his business. We were super satisfied. The staff are super friendly too. The whole experience was top notch from start to finish. The five hour excursion included stunning views of the area along with falls, wildlife, and abandoned mines. Our guide, Dave was very knowledgeable of the area and was very accommodating of our requests for stops along the way and answering our many questions. As a previous owner of a 4x4 with many hours on and off the trail, I felt very comfortable with both the equipment and Dave. Highly recommend!

Outstanding rental with Colorado 145 Jeep this past August Tuesday…read more We called during business hours to schedule a rental, a person answered the phone, got us the jeep we needed and emailed over the contract and insurance instructions to expedite the process at the pick-up counter. At pick-up, the staff member was very helpful going over the trail map and pointing out some different routes that I had not considered before. Then it was a short ride over to pick up the Jeep and the instructions were laid out perfectly for the return process. As for the Jeep, was a 2 door Wrangler in excellent shape. Had nice Weathertech seat maps, Sirius satellite radio, good sound system, and most importantly was ready for serious 'jeeping' in the San Juans. My only small suggestion would be making the map a little bit more detailed in the Alpine Loop portion as the Hurricane Pass and California Pass were not precisely listed. The price of the rental for the 2-door was also $175/day base price where as Ouray Jeeps are $120-$150, but I understand the mark-up for being in the Mountain Village. We were able to maximize our day and I do appreciate the business not having you return the vehicle until 8pm. Very good experience with the company and will use them for my Jeep experience next summer.

In Telluride, Colorado for a long weekend and decided to check out the white water rafting. The…read morewinter snowfall was great and there is still lots of snow on the peaks. My wife had heard that Mild to Wild rafting took great care of their clients. Last year at this time, we were wading up the San Miguel river / stream and fly fishing. Shallow water, tranquil pools and great fishing made it a different weekend. When we booked this, I thought it must be a mistake as this stream did not seem strong enough for rafting and narrow in width. What a difference a year makes. The river was full, fierce with heavy water and good class 3 rapids for the next 1 1/2 hour. Big rocks, fast water, big snags and quick currents were the norm today. One had better stay in the boat, as it would troublesome swimming in 42 degree water. Alyssia, our guide was fabulous and serious about following her instructions. She navigated the rocks, snags and fast water. She maneuvered our boat well. For the next 1 1/2 hours, we had 3-4 foot swells and worked the entire trip. We have rafted many rivers and this was one of our shorter trips but a 5/5 on adventure. For a great adventure, beautiful scenery and a gorgeous day, raft with Mild to Wild. You will have a fun filled and adventurous memory for life.

My company takes clients on a ski trip each year and we love to plan activities for everyone…read morethroughout the trip. This year, we opted to snowmobile with Telluride Outfitters and I am so glad that we did! It is important that the experiences we provide our client guests with are well executed, and everything at Telluride outfitters was amazing from start to finish. We opted for the Alta Ghost Town tour. We arrived at 9:30 AM to sign the waivers and get our licenses scanned - do not forget your driver's license if you'll be driving a snowmobile. Our guides loaded us up into vans and brought us to the site. Those of us that did not have our own goggles and helmets were provided with them. We were then put onto snowmobiles and taught everything we would need to know. Our group of 14 total people was split up into 3 separate groups for the tour, but we met up as a whole group at each stop along the way. We all really enjoyed learning about the old mine town and local history while soaking in the beautiful views. We did have two of our snowmobilers get stuck in the snow, but the tour guides were so great and helped them out easily. Huge shout out to the incredible team at Telluride Outfitters, specifically Ben, Caleb, and Tate (I think.. I am so sorry if I am misremembering). We had such a great time and the guides were a very significant part of that!

We did the 2-hour Bridal Veil Falls tour with Grant ("G"), and it ended up being one of the…read morehighlights of our trip to Telluride. Grant was an incredible guide. He was knowledgeable, funny, patient, and especially great with our kids, which made the whole experience enjoyable for our entire group, from our young children all the way to my parents. The tour took us to Bridal Veil Falls, the tallest waterfall in Colorado, and then to an incredible overlook with one of the most breathtaking views of Telluride. We never would have experienced these places the same way on our own. Riding in the restored 1970s Austrian military 6x6 Pinzgauer was an adventure all by itself. The truck handled the terrain unbelievably well, and the ride struck the perfect balance of excitement without ever feeling unsafe. It was just enough adrenaline for the kids while still being comfortable for my parents. If you're visiting Telluride, I can't recommend Dave's Mountain Tours enough. It was fun, scenic, family-friendly, and absolutely worth it. Ask for Grant if you can!!

My family and I booked a half-day jeep tour to visit Yankee Boy Basin with San Juan Jeep Tours…read more Before my trip to Ouray, I reviewed a few of the local tour outfitters, but after reading all the great reviews about San Juan Jeep Tours and finding out that they have been in business the longest - I was sold on this outfitter being the one. We arrived at 8:45AM for our 9AM start time and filled out our waivers and were directed to Keith's vehicle (an extended bed pickup truck with 3 bench seat rows). Our group consisted of 11 people (adults and kids) and we all fit within the seating without issue. Keith gave us a brief overview of the trip and we were off... Keith is a fantastic guide and made sure to stop at various spots along the tour to lend historical insights plus to allow the tour group to take photographs. About halfway up to the Yankee Boy Basin, the skies finally opened on us (had been a gray, overcast sky all morning). But Keith and the San Juan Jeep Tour outfit was prepared! Keith doled out ponchos to all of the tour group, plus put a tarp over the open seating area in about 45 seconds flat!!! Luckily the rain stopped about 45 minutes later, and the tarp came off... to showcase the absolute beauty of Yankee Boy Basin! The return trip to Ouray (from the Basin) took about 45 minutes and we were back where we started just before 1PM. Again folks... I cannot recommend this tour outfitter enough! Plus, if you can get onto a tour with Keith - you will be in for a treat! And please, please tip your tour guide(s) appropriately!

Let me start by stating! We went to the wrong Mine Tour. We didn't know until we paid and were…read morefully invested. We had wanted to go to the tour which had the actual mine cars (whatever that's called... lol). Dave (the tour guide) came earlier than the start time and took us to the mining area where you can sift for gold or silver. It was a lot of fun, I ended up with a nice size piece of fools gold. Which he told us does have a little gold on it. The tour started at 11 am, and we had to walk the tunnel. Please come with shoes you don't mind getting a little muddy (it's a mine.. folks). He gave us the history of the mine, taught us about some of the tools (why they are called Jack (fill in the blanks, etc). Even though it was not the right tour or location, we were very happy that we ended up there. Dave is absolutely fantastic!

I've been staying here whenever I come to the area for the last 22 years and absolutely love the…read moreplace. Everyone there is always very helpful and knowledgeable about the various trails and places to visit in the area. There's plenty of room in the park for any size coach or fifth wheel and room to park a vehicle in front of site. The sites are well maintained and they are pet friendly as long as you clean up after them. The restrooms are very clean and well maintained too. Jeep rental is always a good experience also. They're well maintained and it's a great way to get up in the high country for amazing views. I will definitely be returning here in the future as it is my favorite place to stay!
