I can't begin to express how beautiful and luxurious the home and grounds were. The attention to detail in the furnishings and surroundings gave the whole space a simple elegance. Watching the sunset on the Chesapeake was breathtaking. Our host regaled us with the history of the quaint town of Chestertown and of Great Oak Manor itself. Dinner and service were impeccable, as was the conversation! I am appreciative and grateful for the invitation. My friends and I had a once-in-a-lifetime memory and will be back to create many more! We were trying to solidify the plan in April/May for a mid-October elopement along with a several night stay in one of the cottages. What we received was lazy communication and terrible customer service. Nina is the employee to steer clear of. She alibied her piss poor responsiveness by saying the Eastern Shore culture just moved at a very slow pace. It took three attempts to receive an error-free contract. We had questions about the photographer that went unanswered for weeks. After nearly a month of trying to lock in our dates and address some of the finer details we received an email from Nina suggesting that we seek out another photographer or another venue altogether if they weren't moving fast enough for us. We did just that, refusing to beg anyone to take our money. Then today, three months later, we received an email from Nina asking us if we'd like to proceed. I responded to her email telling her we made other arrangements and that I'd be leaving feedback online about our experience with her. Attention David and Hillary Rinehart (owners), Nina is poorly representing your establishment and costing you money and your reputation.

We stayed in Marley's Cottage and it was incredible. The red door entrance from our parking space felt like stepping into a secret hideaway. Inside we had a fireplace, a tub on the screened back patio, and a porch swing where we enjoyed our morning coffee. It was private, quiet, and felt like our own little world. Breakfast in the Manor House was outstanding with fresh eggs from their own chickens, and the daily afternoon tea became one of our favorite parts of the day. We met other guests, enjoyed fresh pastries, and had great conversations with the owners, Dave and Hilari. They are warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about both hospitality and preserving the history of this place. Talking with them about Brampton's story and their vision was a highlight of our stay. Definitely try their Steampot dinner! It's loaded with fresh local seafood and felt like a true taste of the Eastern Shore. The property itself is beautiful to walk with gardens, meadows, and wildlife everywhere. Evenings by the fire pit were relaxing and made even better by Squeaky, the inn's charismatic cat. Brampton 1860 is the perfect spot for a romantic getaway or just time to slow down and recharge. We stayed in The Law Library. The view from the room was fun--we could look out our window and see people walking around the town. You can't beat the location--you can walk everywhere. The architecture was so cool. The house had lots of acute and obtuse angles to fit on the lot between the city streets. The living room was so cozy. I wish my own living room could be so welcoming. We especially loved getting to know Maggie the dog, sweetie extraordinaire. The couple that runs the property are nice and down to earth. The location is incredibly accessible to the best parts of historic Annapolis. I was on the phone recommending to friends and family less than 10 minutes after our departure. Thank you Ann and Tom. Chesapeake Heritage & Visitor Center…read more Located on Kent Island in Queen Anne's County, not far after crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, this visitor center is a beautiful and welcoming stop for anyone exploring Maryland's Eastern Shore. The center offers a wonderful blend of local history, scenic waterfront views, and educational exhibits highlighting the importance of the Chesapeake Bay and the marine life that surrounds the region. The nearby harbor is especially enjoyable to walk around, with its variety of boats ranging from small fishing vessels to larger pleasure craft. Inside, the displays are thoughtfully arranged and easy to explore. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, offering colorful pamphlets, recommendations, and plenty of information about attractions and activities throughout the area. Even though my grandchildren were not with me during this visit, the staff still provided great suggestions for family-friendly things to do for visitors of all ages. One unique feature is the steep winding staircase located outside the visitor center, which leads to a 360-degree overlook. From the top, you can enjoy panoramic views of the beach area, working harbor, surrounding restaurants, condominiums, and local businesses. Overall, this is an excellent place for a short stop to learn more about the history and culture of the Chesapeake Bay region while enjoying some beautiful scenery along the way.

The Chesapeake Heritage & Visitors Center is closed, but their outdoor trails are still accessible. It was an overcast day and only a few people were out, so maintaining the social distancing was easy. That being said, we really love this campground, and I wanted to give them a well-deserved shout-out. We first visited in early November and liked it so much that we went back two weeks later. I was honestly surprised by some reviews claiming the owners are money-hungry or rip people off, because that was the complete opposite of our experience. We were originally supposed to stay there in October, but we had an accident that damaged our truck on the day of arrival. I called the resort to cancel and even told them I'd understand if they still needed to charge me due to the short notice. Instead, they gave us a credit for our next stay, which was wonderful and much appreciated. If you're looking for a campground loaded with frills, this isn't it. What you do get are beautiful sites, including the pull-throughs we stayed in that offer direct views of the Chesapeake Bay and some amazing sunsets. Sites include electric and water but no sewer; however, they provide septic carts and several dump stations, similar to many state parks. They also have fire rings and picnic tables, which should be standard everywhere in my opinion. Other than that, it's simply a quiet, relaxed, and scenic campground. My only wish is that WiFi were free, since it is at many other campgrounds. We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The camp store has a solid selection of necessities, and the prices were not unreasonable. Given its proximity to Rock Hall (which is an amazing little town), Chestertown, and the Bay, this is definitely going to be one of our regular camping spots. We're already planning several trips for next year.

This would be a 5 star review for sure if the WiFi coverage was better, if there was sewer at the sites, if the bathrooms were open. They made it clear that these things were not included, so it was not a surprise and they do have portable restrooms around. One more portable in the middle of the B-site area would be good. Overall this place is great and we will be returning. Already booked as a matter of fact :)

Conventiently close to the highway, it offers fairly clean bathrooms, gardens, trees and a full playground. The only thing it lacks is a decent lunch option.
