Referred me to Harvest Market across the way, got a new Lightning cable for $12.00! Not made in China! What??? Vietnam. Charges good! Technician at the location was extremely rude to me. I came in with a home built computer I brought in that I needed a new CPU because the one I received from an online order was not the correct CPU socket size. I was hoping there was one in stock in-town instead of waiting for the return process they Amazon and the correct one to arrive. Instead of letting me know if they had the part in stock, I was berated for the amount of RAM I already had installed in the computer. Technician had absolutely no idea of what I was actually using that desktop for and instead acted like I was an idiot for installing a sufficient amount of memory for the memory intensive applications I intended to run on the desktop. Was not given any info on whether or not they had the part in stock or whether or not they could even get it to me in a timely manner. Ended up just walking out of the store because I was offered zero help essentially. Don't know if the technician was in a bad mood that day or what was going on in his head but I wouldn't recommend anyone visit this location for any type of tech help. I was as courteous as possible even after I was berated by the technician the whole time. So good luck to anyone who goes into the location with little to no technical knowledge because it seems like a role of the dice in regards to how you'll be treated. Good luck to anyone walking in to a supposedly "helpful technical support" store and dealing with that elitist attitude I encountered. read more

We visit Mendo twice and year, and lived there in the 80s, so we're familiar with just about all there is..... and we love it! This last visit I needed a Mac power cord, and no Apple stores nearby :-( . I discovered Sage's store, and he ordered a cord, and I had it in two days. It is great to deal with business people who are ridiculously knowledgeable, but it's best when they're also passionate. Sage's Computer is both. I am very glad there is a local computer store that stocks everything you might need. If not, they'll find it. They're also very much up-to-date on tech happenings. Geek heaven! James, the tech guy there who I never met, did a good job debugging my Mac. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff left a lot to be desired. When they say "we'll call you" they don't really mean it. Almost every time I went in there were two women, employees chatting with each other at the customer service desk. Not very professional. read more

Sage Computer did a wonderful job for me, got a new lap top for Christmas and waited for months before I felt like switching everything over...scary!!! Well I went to Sage and they made me feel comfortable and safe...went to another local shop and they made me feel so stupid for not knowing everything about computers...that is why I mentioned feeling safe, Hey all your stuff in in that old laptop and it is sacred...Nothing was lost, all my data and pictures and documents were all in the same place, they also made it easy to go from Ultimate 7 to windows 10.....not a difference in my main screen...I now have voice Google and loving it......Wonderful Job and I BLESS THEM!!!! read more

I've long used tech support (happily and unhappily) in SF and Marin. When I'm in Mendocino, I've had an increasing need for a variety of supplies and service, and I've tried several vendors. (happily and unhappily) In Mendocino, It's Sages. Really. No reason to go anywhere else. Every part I've needed is available,or orderable for speedy delivery. Every service performed well and quickly. And for a reasonable price. I've used their services on and offsite. While-you-wait, and drop-off-overnight. Turnaround time and focus are extraordinary, even during peak demand. With computers - everyone's emergency is a crisis. But Sage's team is attentive, instructional and unusually caring. Calming & reassuring stressed customers while they fix stuff.And smilingly dogged until they solve seemingly illogical issues. read more

Honestly one of the worst experiences I've had with a business. MAC USERS BEWARE: drive it to MACNetworks in Santa Rosa! I felt royally jerked around and they wouldn't hold themselves accountable. We dropped off our computer, as it had completely stopped working (MAC) after a power surge. Two whopping weeks of back and forth phone calls- a different guy each time saying "just call back and ask for so-and-so" or "we'll call you back." At no point did they just admit that they had no clue what they were doing with my machine, which I would have much more respect for. I ended up pulling my computer from this place and driving it two hours to Santa Rosa, where the guys figured out what to do with it in 30 min labor. What a waste of time! read more

Came back from vacation to find that our server crashed. My husband is computer savvy, but had no time to diagnose or fix it. He called Sage, who gave us the option to have him come pick it up to take to the shop, or we could take it in. It was fixed by the end of the next day for a great price! read more

I've known Sage most of his life and know that he's an incredibly gifted computer guy. I hate complaining about local businesses, but now that Sage has taken over management of MCN full time, this business is suffering and truly needs his attention. I will not to bringing any more repair work to this shop - unless Sage actually starts working there again. Here's what happened: Last month, I took my husband's old Vista-run desktop to Sage's for an upgrade. The job was to install a new hard drive, move the old data to it, install Windows 10 on C, and move all programs/data that were compatible. That part went okay, sort of - It took four working days and once it was back at our home-office, we kept getting black-screen when the computer slept, requiring a re-boot each time. We then purchased Outlook 2016 (because the old one wouldn't work with W10) and returned the unit to Sage's for them to fix the black-screen issue and to move the data from the old Outlook to the new. They only moved the Outlook calendar, not the address book, email history, or notes and the black-screen issue was NOT taken care of. Seven working days and nearly $200 were spent. Phone messages were not picked up (they needed a password, which was actually ON THE PAPERWORK, and when we called it in, they NEVER picked up the message, which cost another day in the shop) and messages were never returned. I had to keep calling them to find out if progress was being made and most of the time, the phone wasn't picked up. I dropped in a couple of times, and received assurances that "he's working on it right now" or "it's on the bench", but they never called to say they were finished and to come pick it up (but maybe that's because they never actually completed the work). I ended up calling semi-retired Lin Varnum, of PC Support, who did a great job of restoring all the data and fixing the black-screen issue in just 45 minutes in my home-office. read more

DO NOT take your computer to these guys.. as they know f*** all about fixing them. and if you're desperate.. then a least go buy a new laptop to get you thru the next two months while they TRY to figure out what's wrong with your computer one part at a time.. NEVER again.. they never contacted me to update anything with me.. just let me stew.. waiting for my laptop.. and after all I paid.. my computer is still not working.. and they wanted me to pay them to replace the screen.. after over a month of trying to fix it.. charging me for parts I didn't even need replaced..They didn't bother to explain things.. the kid I dealt with, seems to be brain dead actually.. Brought MacBook Pro in for diagnostic, black screen. Was told 'motherboard dead, not worth cost of repair.' Brought same to another shop for 2nd opinion where memory chip was replaced for $65, no labor, runs fine again. Sage's refused to refund cost of bad diagnosis. This downward trend is recent, used to be a good repair shop. Note dates on all reviews. read more

We need a real computer sales and service company in fort bragg but until then just throw away your old one and but a new one online or in ukiah because these folks can't fix anything and don't even know how to call to tell they can't fix things. Couldn't get my laptop to connect to the Internet. Walked in without an appointment, hoping I could get help. Terrific immediate help. Nice gal (Brianna?) took good care of the problem and the cost was reasonable. I highly recommend Sage's Computers. They are tucked in behind another business but just look for their sign. I am a computer dummie but Sage is very patient and doesn't make me feel too technically retarded. He explained upfront that there was a 20$ diagnostic fee. He ended up having to spend time updating, adding a program, etc. explaining each step without information unnecessary and confusing to me. He stayed after closing time to wait for a program to load and was very generous with his charges. I highly recommend this store for locals and people visiting the area. read more

Actually less than one star. I made the mistake of taking my Apple computer here for an upgrade. It has never worked since and I have taken it back twice. The first time they said the RAM was not seated properly and tried to charge me. I pointed out that THEY had put the RAM in! It still did not work (after $100s of dollars). I returned it again and for 3 and half weeks listened to "Sage will look at it and call you", at several points in my husband's and my phone calls and visits to the shop, they mentioned possibly the memory chips were bad because they were a "lower grade" (?), again I pointed out that THEY put the memory chips in and were the only ones that has ever worked on the computer. Again they told me "Sage will look at it and call you" . I have picked up my computer and I will take it to Santa Rosa on the recommendation of others who have had the same problem with "Sage's". "Sage" never had a chance to look at it or return my calls in over a months worth of time? This is not the way to run a business. Save yourself time, money and a possibly damaged computer and go elsewhere. read more

I have been here a dozen or more times over the last two years and always experienced above and beyond tech and product service! I would not go anywhere else in town. I have an ancient Lenovo that they can still support! Whenever I'm here there are other customers getting the same full service. Sage's computer store came highly recommended, and that means more than any advertising can do, so i went there with a simple issue that i wanted diagnosed, then maybe fixed. i ended up leaving with the computer a short time later, having basically diagnosed it myself, with the employee's concurrence. Really not the type of thing one would usually be charged for, or at least not full price, i asked how much, and was really surprised to be charged full price for so little. Not one to argue, i thanked them and left, but it left enough of a bad feeling that i had to write this, my first Yelp review. This was a textbook type of thing a businessperson should be gracious about, in order to secure customer's positive word of mouth and future patronage of a larger scale. I don't expect anything for free, but prefer to be charged fairly. This type of thing is even more important in a small town. I can say that they were friendly, and the store was busy, so they must be doing something right. Perhaps i got the wrong employee, as he was amenable, but really didn't tell me anything i didn't know already. I have always done all my own (and other's) computer work and building, but since i wasn't 110% sure of the problem and short on time, i would have had them do any repair work, most likely. As it stands, i feel like i was very politely ripped off. And i really wanted to like them, considering all the good things i heard. It's entirely likely you will receive good service, but expect to pay above scale for it. read more
