I've always loved my neighborhood, Cleveland Park. It's family friendly during the day yet young and fun at night. It also has a great mix of both local and commercial establishments. And after walking through Cleveland Park Day today, I realize that I love my neighborhood even more.
The event was held between Macomb and Porter St on Connecticut Ave. Many of the Cleveland Park businesses had a booth of samples (some free, some for a cost), activities for children, or information about their services. This fair was especially family friendly - I saw face painting, a dunk booth, moon bounce, an open fire truck, clowns making balloon animals, and "dance" classes. Plus, a couple of restaurants were offering free food for children - awesome! For the adults, the library was giving away free books, and I saw many people stop and converse with former President Cleveland and Mrs. Cleveland. Seriously. I was also super excited to see what used to be the vacant lot between Wake Up Little Suzie and the Bank of America announce that Tackle Box is coming winter 2011 - exciting! They were even here to sell their food - a nice touch since they'll be a part of the community very soon. While the fair wasn't very large or something that I'd drive from miles away to come for, I was proud to see my neighborhood coming together to celebrate our community today. read more
