My husband wanted only a 6 pack, but they only carried a 12 pack so he had to get that. I was greeted when I walked in, which was nice. They do ask for your ID at checkout, and even though only my husband was purchasing something, we both had to show our IDs. The pricing seemed fair. The store itself is pretty typical for a liquor store ambiance, with aisles of different options and some items kept in the refrigerated cases. Nothing fancy or over the top, but it's convenient if they carry what you're looking for. For my husband, this is a good go to because they have his preferred beer. But I'd say it's 50/50 since they didn't have what I wanted and he had to purchase more than what he wanted.

This is place to visit when you want to chat with the people behind the counter, whether it's because you want a recommendation or because you want them to help you find the perfect bottle for a gift. During my short time in the store, I was cheerfully greeted and showed around, but also left to browse by myself (which, as an introvert, I appreciated). The store is small and cozy, but they have a great selection of wine and other beverages that I haven't seen at bigger places. I ended up getting a bottle of Spanish red wine and a can of local white wine. I like to do that whole high-low thing sometimes, you know? WestClay Wine and Spirits does wine tastings and spirit tastings weekly, sometimes multiple times a week. You can keep up with their schedule on social media. I was encouraged to visit for a tasting, and was told that the tastings are super low-key and fun, and a good way to try something that might be new to me.

Spend $500 to get a whopping 1% reward ($5) that cannot be used for alcohol purchases ...and it expires in 90 days. As incentives go, it's pretty poor. - each time I visit it seems like I see more of the store brand whiskeys and less of the other brands. Staff recommendations are clearly biased towards pushing the store brands. They alway say, "if you like 'insert name here' you'll love this!" Because I never find this to be true, I don't find the staff's opinions credible. Overall it's a good place to shop with good prices ... the main reason to visit. However, it comes with some hype that's a bit of a turn off.

This is not the first time their staff members have trailed along giving so called customer service to me. I was only polite to them in spite of how they acted. I work in customer service myself so I know the tactics. I drive an hour and half to visit that location and have had this happen at least twice. There was absolutely no reason to treat me like this once let alone again. I spend at least 100.00 every time I make the trip but it will never happen again. I am a good person and would never take anything. You lost a good customer today I only with I had left all my stuff on your floor and walked out.

They have all the wine labeled with ratings, including staff recommendations, so it is easy to pick out a good bottle of wine. The prices are reasonable because they buy in bulk and pass the savings on to the customer. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, without being pushy. I don't hesitate to ask for help. The staff gets to know you after you visit enough. I also like to buy their gift baskets, which make perfect house warming or hostess gifts. They generally have several premade baskets, but I like to have them custom made from items that I select in the store. (You can even bring your own basket.) Baskets generally take a day or two to make up, depending on the time of year. I also like to buy gift cards for my wine drinking friends' birthdays or retirements. The shop is eclectic, cozy and upscale. They offer private parking which is a plus in downtown Zionsville where parking is at a premium. The staff will help carry you wine to the car if you need. Grapevine Cottage is well worth a visit.
