This park is massive, and there are amazing views of the city of Hartford. There is plenty of on-street parking, several fields for games, and just wide, open spaces. I'm looking forward to coming here weekly for my games, and also just to explore, have a picnic, or just to play!

The Connecticut operation has locations spread across every corner of the state "to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens". Last night we attended a fundraising gala for Hartford's newest B&G Club, the beautiful South End Boys and Girls Club. It's located "in a neighborhood that needs it most" as explained by Guest Speaker Luke Bronin, Mayor of Hartford. The evening was titled "Great Futures and Open House, and the program started as soon as we stepped off the bus and were serenaded by a children's brass band. There were 300 guests in attendance and we really enjoyed touring the various rooms -one for music, one for dance, one for technology, one for art, etc. The highlight of the evening was a formal presentation hosted by ESPN's Sage Steele. Other speakers besides the Mayor were Claire Burns of Hartford Insurance (the lead sponsor), Sam Gray, CEO and President of the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford, and Ismael -Hartford's 2023 Youth of the Year. There was a massive auction of donated goods and services and food were provided by DORO Catering of West Hartford. It was a very inspirational evening and if you're looking for a good cause to support, you might want to check out the Boys and Girls Club.

My partner and I had a great time on the river thanks to Main Stream Canoes. We took the 6 mile…read moreupper river trip sharing a canoe. All of the equipment was functional and we were promptly dropped off at the starting point. The trip was a great mix of calm water and a little excitement in small rapids. This late in the season, the water level was a little low and I did have to do some walking but that's river canoeing for you. Arrived at the shop, pulled up the canoe, checked out and we were back on our way. We look forward to taking a longer trip with friends next season.

This West Hartford trail was 8 to 10 feet wide and paved; it's very easy for walking with a…read morestroller. There is parking at the Beachland Park and Elmwood Community Center. We didn't know this so we found a random spot at Norfeldt Little League field and started there. Based on the town's website, the Greenway project is expected to be completed in 2024 and will be about 4 miles long: the trail is located in between New Park Ave and Asylum Ave. There are multiple phases to construction and it is still being worked on. The trail was popular when we went. There were bikers, joggers, dog walkers, and rollerbladers. The Trout Brook was clear and serene. Part of the trail is behind people's houses. There are spots where you have to cross the street and you can see/hear the traffic adjacent to the trail. It is not the quietest trail I've been on but it's still good. Overall, a lovely trail for the community; I love the accessibility and a great spot for a lovely stroll.
