The experience at Clearview will vary from person to person, but mine was certainly not the best. The facilities are pretty nice, although I admit we had problems with heat and hot water sporadically failing, which was not the best in winter. Very often I was quite cold. Clearview has some dedicated staff. Juanita, Randy, Gigi, Jodi to name a few are really great people who care about their clients. Unfortunately there are also several staff members who are just too incompetent to be caring after people in recovery. The rules varies from staff to staff, sometimes one staff member would ask me to do something and another would chew me out for doing that very thing. One of the lead staff members, Susan, was just terrible. She was very rude and constantly changing her mind, and had some very insane theories about how the world worked. Overall just a little too unstable to be taking care of people in recovery. Twice I was given the wrong dosage of my medication, and once I was almost given someone else medication. My first few nights really were unpleasant, because I was up in the loft trying to sleep while the night staff banged around in the kitchen for hours on end. The staff was nice enough to move me when a new bed opened up, and my new room was much more comfortable. Another problem I had was all the neighborhood cats would hang around because clients and staff would feed them, and I am very allergic to cats. The staff was great at removing the cats on sight, but after months/years of being fed they still hung around constantly. Another huge problem I had was a client who was paranoid schizophrenic and constantly stressing everybody out, making it very difficult to focus on our recovery. They eventually transferred this client to someplace else (presumably a psychiatric hospital), but she was there for over three weeks, so the damage was once again already done. Also my therapist, Sandra, while a very nice and caring person, was just god awful. The first thing she did on our first session was report my father to social services for some minor abuse that happened 20 years ago. Since then I have told 3 other therapists about her doing this, and they all roll their eyes when they hear that story. In addition, she just was the worst therapist ever, she was almost like an android or something. Once out of desperation I asked why she wanted to get into this field, and her response was that it wasn't my place to interview her for her own job. Yea. Very creepy. On my last week I switched to a therapist named Jodi who was absolutely wonderful, but again, too little too late. Things got so stressful and chaotic that I left 3 days early. They tried to keep me there, but I told the owner I felt "unsafe" and needed to leave. She never called me back to ask what I meant by "unsafe," but then again, they had my 20 thousand dollars, so why bother. The only reason I gave Clearview 2 stars instead of 1 is because I cannot deny most of the staff are very kind and caring. But man, if structure and good therapy is something you want in your recovery, I would choose someplace else. I defiantly feel ripped off, and ended up in another treatment facility which was much cheaper and better. Now I am doing quite well, but Clearview defiantly was a step back in my recovery. read more
