I discharged from Clearview Treatment Center's Dual Diagnosis program on 10/10/2025. The experience was difficult but ultimately helpful--I needed stabilization after a month-long marijuana relapse and acute depression. Therapist-led groups were supportive, though tech-led groups were less effective. I learned a lot about advocating for myself, which I had to do often. My first month was marked by severe marijuana withdrawal: intense emotional swings, dysphoria, anger, sleep problems, nausea, and digestive issues. Staff and the nurse practitioner never acknowledged that I was in withdrawal, which made the experience much more distressing. During one crisis week, despite expressing suicidal ideation, I received minimal support outside a brief therapist session. I requested non-12 Step recovery meetings due to trauma, and while initially approved, chronic understaffing meant I was required to attend 12 Step meetings with the group. The required 1:6 staffing ratio was rarely met. This left high-needs clients without proper supervision, and at times clients were informally monitoring someone who clearly needed a higher level of care. Case management was also strained. Only one case manager served all five houses, leading to repeated paperwork delays and mistakes. Limited phone access made managing essential tasks difficult without more support. Accessibility was another issue. I disclosed mobility limitations before admission, but the facility had far more stairs than described, including at off-site meetings. Only after persistent advocacy were accessible options provided near the end of my stay. Food was challenging as a diabetic. Meals were often too carb-heavy, breakfast options were minimal, and the only accommodation offered was frozen frittatas. I ultimately purchased my own food. Overall, Clearview provided some meaningful therapeutic support, but significant issues with staffing, accessibility, crisis response, withdrawal education, and individualized needs remain. I stabilized largely because of my prior long-term sobriety, but I worry about clients newer to recovery who received far less support. read more

Carrying full team that knows who you are and how to work with your specific needs and they care so much about your well being

I don't know where to start. This place is not where you should go to get help. I went here because I was out of choices and was told that this is the best place for DBT. I do now have a diagnosis of BPD but do have some tendencies like self-harm and suicidal ideation. But honestly, my daughter died, so I feel like I'm actually doing ok. I really tried to get better. I struggled during the first part of my treatment. I was eventually hospitalized at UCLA for 19 days because they (CV) couldn't help me and actually nearly killed me. One of the techs giving me my medication overdosed me with my Lithium (Which can be very deadly if overdosed on) because she wasn't reading the pill bottles. For several days she was giving me an overdose of my Lithium and then when I tried to report it, my therapist ignored me saying that I needed to talk to the tech first. Ok, let me tell the tech that was overdosing me that she was so that she can cover her tracks before they are able to complete an investigation. They did complete the investigation, found out that I was telling the truth and then didn't fire the staff for overdosing me. I'm telling you. Don't go here. read more

The woman's treatment center helped my daughter get back to functioning after many months of dis regulation. She was able to get a job and hold it. we tried many things and that's the only place which made a difference. is it perfect. No, but she's so much better because of it. read more

please read the other warnings here! groups are dead silent and on a dirty patio. photos are not what they appear. the house is a disgusting mess, with bugs, grease, trash, smelly plates, old meat and fish all over, junk food, no outings, rude dismissive staff including chris (others have complained), people falling asleep during training, teaching, aggressive violent behaviors towards one girl, watching her be bullied over and over, admissions person promised so many things (crystaa) and never actually were delivered. filthy poopy bathroom, dirty cheap furniture, rude maid that wouldn't give anyone duvets/pillows, no therapy as promised, case manager stood me up multiple times, hold patients hostage when they want to leave, at least 5 people quit within 5 days! rip off, money motivated, false advertising, deplorable food/conditions, boring curicullum, clicky negative patients who bno outings, arely spoke except to complain, no gym, no exercise, junk food 24/7, people with psychosis, psyc wards, they don't even allow your lotion, toothbrush, floss, body ouf? no cell for 30 days?? do not go here! scammed 100%. make someone use the hallway bathroom to shower where everyone poops. seriously?????? staff that were great: jojo the chef, kate the pysc, evan, jessica, anne, natasha, max and colby. the therapists are not good from what i saw. doodling and drawing pictures of our "moods" at our age is ridiculous. some fell asleep, some loved to hear themselves talk the entire time. we were literally discouraged from sharing and one girl started bullying someone over her sharing and then cussed, started punching her own face! it was so scary! read more

Clearview is the best treatment center I have been to and it probably even saved my life. I would recommend this place and say you are lucky person to be treated by these loving well trained team. My therapist Rachel K (5star) she cares she listens and does trauma treatment better than anyone that's helped me and my family. She helped me through some trauma I never thought could be helped. She is fun she is serious and she can be tough if needed (no shananigans lol) My psychiatrist Kate was so caring and so nice. She is the one prescriber that goes through all medication and checks the side effects as well as making sure every medication works together. She cares about her patients so much and listens to their needs as well as making sure they are getting the right medication. So many others to give a shout out to. Hi everyone! I stayed at Clearview Treatment Center for a full month and had extremely negative experiences. Before I dive into that, I want to say that the best part of Clearview was not the curriculum, but the PAs (staff that watch us). I want to give a special shoutout to Jamilah, Marlene, Jennifer, Maddie, Irene, and Irene's daughter )sorry for forgetting your name)! I also forgot to mention this in a different review I did for CVTC, but the FOOD! The chefs are phenomenal. But for forty to forty-five thousand dollars to socialize with sweet staff that are severely underpaid and to be able to eat 5-star food - it's just NOT worth it. I am going to give a listed detail of issues that you may want to consider when choosing a treatment facility for your loved ones/yourself. 1) Understaffing I am not sure if Clearview is still understaffed (therapists) or if they're still working the lead therapist to the bone, but this was a major issue for patients. I walked in on a patient (who became my friend and roommate) that kept sobbing day after day because the lead therapist would continue to make promises to meet with her and continued to leave her wondering when she'd see her. I will say that I do not know the details of that patient/therapist relationship. What I can say, however, is that that patient would sob continuously as they expressed the abandonment they felt. 2) Inappropriate comments by therapists One of the therapists (who I am not sure is employed currently) said out loud in group, "Omg DBT mindfulness is so f*cking boring" and skipped exercises on purpose. That same therapist also kept asking patients if we had "seen her vape" around the house because she had "set it down and lost it". I can NOT make this up. A different therapist disclosed another patient's self-harm incidents and her struggle with purging/her ED. Initially, I was shocked that this information was divulged to me. It felt like a violation of HIPPA. I felt extremely uncomfortable knowing that MY information, trauma, etc could be mentioned to other patients I was in treatment with. I brought up this issue to the therapist and she said that the patient had discussed this in group, which is why she could share that information with me. Regardless, it felt inappropriate and made me feel like I could not trust my therapist. 2) Absolutely no control of patients which leads to continuous disruption in group. A waste of money for those who paid out of pocket and have to listen to patients talking about sex, drugs, self-harm, or random topics that completely distract from group. Therapists do not care enough to control the group. It was terrible to be so desperate to help just to have therapists not bring group back on track until 45 minutes to an hour into group. 3) "Anonymous" meetings on Zoom on our schedule Some PAs would literally just turn the volume down on the meeting because everyone complained that they didn't want to watch it. Patients would make fun of those on Zoom, talk about random things during it, and completely zone out and disengage. The staff did not care. Furthermore, we would watch random anonymous meetings the staff would find. Monday, what are we watching? CODA (co-dependents anonymous). Tuesday, maybe AA (alcoholics anonymous)? What I didn't mention, however, is that we couldn't even PARTICIPATE in the meetings. Yes, for forty-five THOUSAND dollars we were put in a room every day, expected to be silent (which, as mentioned, NO ONE was because it was a complete joke), and watch STRANGERS on Zoom and attend anonymous meetings. Horrible filler for therapists/admin who have run out of ideas to legitimize why they can charge more (my guess, at least). 4) Messy diagnosing of mental illnesses I have mixed feelings about one of the lead therapists at Clearview. She was amazing in some ways, but negligent in others. When I had the head psychiatrist tell me "Do not listen to her, she does not know what she's talking about- she can't diagnose because she does not have the credentials", it created turmoil for me. My diagnosis' went back and forth and I was told by my therapist I didn't have my diagnosis (BP), but then the psychiatrist would diagnose me with it. I even have a letter from the psychiatrist attesting to my care team/professors that state I have (BP), but on my medical records leaving Clearview I was diagnosed with MDD because the therapist had, verbatim, "Never seen [you] manic". Obviously, that is not how BP works. BP is episodic and there was no evidence of mania due to me being a depressive episode. I am extremely blessed that my psychiatrist back home was appalled that my diagnosis was handled this way. I am now receiving proper treatment for my disorder. I would recommend Clearview Treatment Center in Edmonds, WA. The care they gave me was out of this park. Everyone there was so awesome. They are a Christian program, BUT you can opt out of all those religious courses. read more

I cannot express enough gratitude for my time at Clearview Residential Treatment Center. When I arrived, I was in a depressive state with overwhelming feelings of hopelessness and high anxiety. Today, I feel equipped with the right CBT and DBT skills to cope with any challenge thrown my way, all thanks to the dedicated and compassionate team at Clearview. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I felt well taken care of. The staff, including Penny, Sandra, Ben The guy who's always Zen, Logan who thinks deeply and keeps strolling , Eduardo, Hanna with the vibes, Melony , Abiel , Monica, both Rachel's and Johanna, just to name a few , were standouts as they were always checking in on me every 15 minutes to ensure my safety and security. Their constant support and genuine care made a world of difference in my healing journey. In addition, the medical team here is top notch, nurses such as Gina , Psychiatrist Kate, and an extremely smart, Therapists Kai and Doron left huge impressions based on their follow ups and expedient administration of the right medications .The culinary experience at Clearview is another highlight. Chef Ailyn and Chef Courtney prepare some of the most delicious and rich lunches and dinners I've ever had. Their meals were not just nutritious and nourishing but also provided a sense of community, comfort and joy in our daily routines. The community within Clearview is another standout feature. The clients I lived with were incredible, offering mutual support and camaraderie that greatly enhanced my experience. But what truly sets Clearview apart is the outstanding leadership helmed by Clearviews Director Gillian and visionary guidance of their CEO. Their compassion and dedication to mental health care trickle down through every aspect of the program, creating an environment that is truly conducive to healing and growth. In short, Clearview Residential Treatment Center has transformed my life. I leave here not only with effective coping skills but also with a renewed sense of hope and confidence. Even though I wrote a review already. I forgot to add something that one of the therapist D did in a class. He played the guitar and let us rest and fall asleep if we needed it. He really understood how hard it was to be in treatment seven days a week and not get a chance to rest. It was a beautiful class. They need to incorporate more things like this. Sometimes it feels like you're going and going at this place and you don't get a chance to rest. Like I said it was a beautiful class and to me personally it relaxed my mind and I felt at peace, you work so hard while you're in treatment you need more breaks and longer walks between classes. We need more therapist like this that take care of our mental health that's what we're there for at the end of the day. read more

I attended Clearview in Pasadena for two months. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have been in a protected environment while I waited for my medication to kick in. This place saved my life. The staff are caring, being able to participate in music therapy, art therapy, acting therapy, and the regular sessions lead by the therapist really helped me. I didn't think it would but it did. The place in and of itself can't cure you but the combination of their care and medication can change your life for the better. Being with peers going through the same or similar situation made me feel less alone and ashamed of my experience. I made life long friends and am grateful to Clearview for all of their help and support. I would recommend them to anyone struggling with a mental health crisis. And I appreciated all the available snacks and tea. Lastly, I read on other reviews people struggled with having to hear their peers share some things that may have affected them negatively. I have compassion and understand how this can be triggering especially when you are going through something awful but I appreciated the opportunity to share my truth in my darkest moments and therefore would not wish to silence someone else's opinions. I agree that depending on the therapist leading the group somewhere better than others and ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to speak and be heard. I am extremely grateful for having had the opportunity to be in one of the ClearView's programs which has given me the chance to change my life for the better and for good. Kara, Lynn and Sarah are amazing therapists and are trained extensively in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. They are able to share their knowledge in a comprehensive, professional, clear, amicable way. I always felt comfortable to ask anything; they know how to answer eloquently, and patiently the most abstract concepts. This DBT program is top notch. Dr. Steven, the Clinical Director is such a compassionate, genuine, understanding, and ready-to-help person. Professionally he has the expertise and experience that one can expect only from the best doctors. Truly amazing individual. The House Manager, Leilani, I really am amazed of how she is able to remember EVERYTHING that the house as a property needs and getting it done seamlessly. All while getting to know every single client, caring about our recovery, give support, encouragement, motivation and coaching in very effective and individualized approach. The rest of the staff is always there whenever one needs them, literally 24/7. I won't name anyone because I don't want to miss anybody. Every single one of them is amazing in their own way. I learned a lot from every single one for real! Of course everyone's favorite, the chef, Johanna (Jojo). She always puts a smile on everyone's face with her great energy, positive attitude, smile, sense of humor passion and most importantly the love she puts in her cooking. Literally her food still brings me joy. In the over a month that I was there I never had a bad meal, culinary mastery is uncanny. No matter what the dietary restriction(s) or complexity of the cooking style; rich food, deserts, light food, vegan, gluten free, any food allergy or intolerance you name it, everything she makes is delicious! Perfection isn't real, there are bumps in every road we take but now I have begun my journey to learning how to deal with obstacles in a positive, mature way and with a CLEAR VIEW of a brighter, happier, meaningful live worth living. read more

Horrible! Horrible Horrible! Staff uncaring, full of lies and deceitful ways. I called asking for treatment and room. With in 3 days they had me ready to go just needed physical and TB test which takes 3 days. To then be told your bed was given away. It will be a week. No call from Cleariview "Liz" Or Glenn the manager. I call leave message again. Now going on 14 days of waiting I call Liz again. She says I can refer you some place else or it will be at least 3 wks. Ok so I have a tentative date. I then call at the 3 wk mark when they said they would have a bed for me... Guess what NO BED! Another 3-6 weeks . There response to putting my life on hold is I can refer you some place else. Total roller coaster thinking your finally going to get help and the play with your mind . The admission process is a joke and unethical putting mental health patients at risk. I wonder how many potential patients have committed suicide while waiting thinking they finally reached out for help. read more

this was more of a prison camp than rehab. the staff kept different rules, so you had to learn different rules for each shift, by trial & error. I was not allowed to take non-narcotic medications prescribed as directed by my physician. they needed more & more info from my doctor, but the next shift would drop the ball & not follow through. I had to explain the situation (or catch them up) to every new shift For a week and a half. when my doctor finally gave them the information they required, their staff then over rode the doctors orders and denied it regardless. all that work was for nothing.... and they knew it from the beginning. the medication was sumatriptan for migraines, which is not a med that is abused for any recreational benefits. I usually woke up with my migraines at 4-5am, but was not permitted any meds until 6am, when it would be too late, my migraine would be uncontrollable at that point. I had to get emergency room care twice, because they wouldn't let me take my meds as prescribed and they became too much to bear. furthermore, I stayed at a second house location, separate from the main office. We were locked in at night with no phone (front door could be unlocked though... just locked away from the staff & main location). There was no way to get help if needed. The only way to get back to the main house/office was to walk out the front door (against rules, of course) around 2 blocks, in the dark, by yourself to get to their front office door. I was sober when I went here & a year later, I'm still sober. I credit this place ZERO in my road to recovery. They only made me feel like a prisoner that couldn't be trusted. They made my road to sobriety much more difficult than it would have been without their "help". I left early, after a 3 week stay, with ZERO regrets. I cant believe people pay so much to go here. I cant believe I trusted them, trying to keep an open mind, to have made it the three weeks I did stay. Lastly, I was wrongly diagnosed as BDP and have had 3 different psychiatric evaluations/tests that each agree, since my time at clearview. As a person that did not have BDP, this place was a horrid fit for me as I can see I was treated as a person with this diagnosis, straight out of the gate. I was very stereo-typed & treated as a low life criminal as opposed to a person struggling for emotional regulation during my recovery. This place knocked me much further down than it ever built me up. It was a JOKE. Oh one last thing, during my stay, my therapist sessions were always bumped for other patients with more pressing, urgent issues (fights amongst eachother... lots of drama). In my 3 week stay, I received only 1 legit therapy session. altho I will say that the food was AMAZING as was the weather. read more

I checked into Clearview on January 15, 2024 because I had heard that it was an amazing program back in 2021. I was shocked at how disorganized, uncaring, and exhausting my experience there ended up being. On my first night there, they wrote down my medications for 9 am instead of 9 pm so I couldn't take them and I'm bipolar - I stressed how important my medication was multiple times during intake. They didn't let me speak to a nurse or doctor that night either. This was the first time that I learned that the advertised 24 hour nurse was actually not available to us. Group was 9-5 7 days a week and we had to go to a meeting every single day. There were no breaks on the weekends. Outings on Wednesday and Saturday were only about 2 hours long, and they made us come up with ideas even though we didn't know the area and options were very limited. The groups were 45 minutes long and mostly worksheets. There are no cameras and most of the staff would lock themselves in the office, which is a separate building. Many of them talked down to us if they even talked to us at all. For example, the first time I talked to my case manager Jack was when I decided I wanted to go to a different program and he made faces at me, interrupted me, and told me twice that I'm not making a smart decision and that he didn't care if I stayed or left when I communicated my disappointment. I told him that I hope he heard our concerns and he said "what, that the census is low?" which dismissed everything I had said. He said he would talk to my dad about it and I told him not to, and then found out that he called my dad anyway to say "your daughter doesn't want my help" as if I was the difficult client in treatment. I found out later that he started calling alumni asking them to leave good reviews to bury ours. There were 4 of us in the program during most of my stay and 3 of us left with me. I also heard that a client after me tried to leave and they wouldn't let her. When she called the police they called to tell the police not to come. On one of my last nights there, they put a girl straight off of the streets into my room at 11 pm. She talked to all of us about smoking crack and went through withdrawals in the same house where some of us had already been sober for weeks. There was no separate detox. Even when I decided to leave, the clinical director Stephanie and Jack wanted to move me to the women's center and Stephanie told me that smoking weed every day wasn't a big deal - probably so she could validate moving me out of the dual diagnosis program and into the women's. I appreciate the therapists Andrew and MJ - the latter of which admitted to us that the program is a shitshow and has since quit. I appreciate the few staff that did sit with us and treat us like humans: Anna, Ariana, Melanie, Hannah, Abiel, Jojo, Jamila, DJ. But I'm at a much better program now. I'm so happy that I didn't settle for Clearview and that I trusted my gut that there were so many things that were very wrong. Clearview needs a complete makeover if it's not completely shut down - but I have heard that they fired their CEO. I hope that means they're moving in the right direction again. read more

Words can't describe how much Clearview Women's Center has done for me. Dialectical Behavior Therapy isn't only for Borderline Personality Disorder. The skills I have learned around Distress Tolerance, Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness have given me strategies to use daily in life. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or any other mental health need, Clearview is for you. The women's center is small and because of this, the care is specialized to each client and you feel like everyone is on your team. My therapist helped me see things better than any other talk therapy I have done in the past 25 years. read more

I spent a month at Clearview's residential treatment program for women with Borderline Personality Disorder. I can't emphasize enough how much this program is tailored to problems of emotional under-control, such as impulsive behavior. You'll be told repeatedly, "The purpose of these skills is not to help you feel better. It's to help you not make your own situation worse when you're upset." When I was there, only 2 clients had "textbook BPD" and both LOVED the program and swore that it changed their life. Everyone else had been referred to Clearview with other primary concerns (e.g. mood disorders, OCD, PTSD, somatic symptom disorders) and didn't seem to get much out of it. The program mostly goes through the DBT manual in a self-study fashion. You read the handouts in group and then do the worksheets on your own. Clients are discouraged from sharing their own history or issues with each other; if you'd like to talk about how to apply a particular skill to your own specific problems, you'll be referred to your therapist. I was disappointed by the overall lack of training among the program staff. One of the program therapists who held individual sessions was great, the other one seemed super inexperienced. A few of the program aides can provide actual "skills coaching", but many seem to improvise on the spot when a client in distress asks for coaching. (Minimum job qualification: a driver's license.) The art instructor is also the life coach. Overall, it seems that the program is being held together by the clinical director, whom any and all concerns are delegated to. Medication management is not one of Clearview's strong points. The program aides who administer medications routinely offer the wrong dose of meds to clients, forget to remind clients of mid-day medications and allow clients to run out of meds entirely. The current psychiatrist Dr Malik has a penchant for taking people off of controlled substances and offering them OTC supplements instead. Other than that, he has a very hands-off approach and refrains from changing the prescriptions clients come into the program with, which some clients appreciated and others were disappointed by. The physical facilities are extremely nice for a residential program. The program uses three buildings, one for programming and two for living quarters. The house I stayed in has 6 single bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, high ceilings and interior balconies. The program building has an interior courtyard with a bamboo garden, several group rooms and a bunch of staff offices. Every room is inviting in a different way. E.g. the main group room is furnished with lounge chairs, pillows and blankets; the dining/art room is decorated with client artwork; another room has a tranquil living room vibe and was a favorite for naps. The program goes out of its way to accommodate every client's needs as much as possible. The flexibility went from goceries (at one point we had 8 different kinds of milk and milk replacement) and store runs, to the way staff interacted with clients and what objects each of us had access to. (Do you need a contraband item to self-sooth? Just ask!) I enjoyed the time I spent at Clearview. I made some amazing new friends and I got a few nuggets of useful therapy from my individual sessions, but I don't feel like I got a whole lot out of the group program. Worth $1,400 per day? I am so grateful for Clearview Treatment Center. They helped my daughter in a time of tremendous stress and pain in our family, and the growth that is possible within the structure of this program is astounding. Taking full advantage of the program is easy with clinical staff and therapists who all obviously care deeply about your well being. I've learned so much about my daughters diagnosis and possible treatment options, with DBT being clinically shown to reduce the symptoms of borderline personality disorder dramatically. Clearview has made me and my daughter more hopeful about the future of living with BPD, and has provided solutions I'm not sure we could find elsewhere. Clearview has changed my life. I'd suggest trying it out if you want to learn skills to deal with problems instead of only talking about how they make you feel. It was my first time going to a program and trying DBT. I wasn't sure what to expect and was apprehensive, but the Clearview staff are the most supportive, compassionate and understanding people I've ever met. They got me and they helped me get my life back. I felt understood, validated and..normal. I did the php program and then the evening IOP where I could work and get help at the same time. You definitely get out what you put into the program and the staff are more than willing to help you on the way; even carry some of the heavy stuff for you while you sort through the easier stuff. They truly care about your wellbeing and the phone coaching was very helpful. Their staff are all on the same page and my experience with them has been nothing short of life-changing. The staff are passionate about their jobs and it shows in their work. All of them go above and beyond. They've taught me skills I will keep with me and implement for the rest of my life. Clearview was exactly what I needed at the most critical time in my life so far. I did a month of PHP and a week of IOP, and the skills and principles I learned there were truly life-changing. I am able to cope with difficult thoughts, emotions and circumstances so much more skillfully and healthfully than I ever could before. My therapist Sarah was fantastic that's about it. They stole my property and refuse to respond to me. They are unreceptive to any feedback. Constantly blame. The individual therapy was great fantastic therapist but overall just a really disappointing experience WASTE OF MONEY be careful. The cook is amazing though. Not worth what I spent where I could have gotten real help. I was also not allowed to take my medication earlier and because of this I couldn't wake up the next day and then I obviously would get in trouble.... constantly accused for affecting others even if I tried handling things by myself and alone so I wouldn't affect other. They wouldn't tell u what you did wrong EVER!! It was unbelievably frustrating so u had no idea what to work on they just said everything. Was sent to the hospital and released a couple hours later. Horrible communication with family about anything that was going on. They left me on some corner near UCLA and all I was told was good luck. Haha. ABSOLUTELY WORST PLACE. Please save urself and ur money!!! There are much better places out there and this is absolutely not it. read more

Clearview's program is amazing. Their treatment plans take into consideration each client's specific needs. I was personally vested in the wellbeing of a loved one who entered the residential program, and I would highly recommend Clearview to anyone who might need help. The staff (clinical and administrative) was patient, professional, qualified and compassionate throughout the entire process, starting with the initial intake, through the actual treatment program, and after discharge. I felt their team was my partner in caring for my loved one, and the positive outcome is a testament to the strength of the program. read more

Clearview Dual program: Horrible director, staff has no knowledge base of addiction and the rules are different for each client. This treatment center has some good staff but very few. Hardly any were addicts which is very unusual for a treatment center and not helpful. Alexsa, Kelsey, Chris, Sabrina, Dayneese and Stephanie are absolutely amazing and they were some of the few that truly made me feel cared for. At Clearview you are constantly confined other than going to a meeting each night. I had a horrible experience here overall sadly; it started out enjoyable before I saw all of Clearview's flaws. The worst part was that a client was offered drugs by another client who brought them in to the Clearview treatment facility. That same girl was also physically threatening towards me and horrible to staff. She had many exceptions made for her and nothing was done about her behavior and bad choices. She put other clients at risk an interfered with everyone's treatment and nothing was done about it. The director is overly emotional and will later apologize for freaking out; not professional in the slightest. When he asked me to take this review down he made excuses about it. This treatment facility is also very cheap with their clients and the property is very dirty. It is an over priced treatment center by all means. I do not recommend going to Clearview at all. The only reason why I stayed clean and sober was because I was confined and in a "safety bubble". The women's center may absolutely be different but the dual program is a mess. They also mess up medications which is terrifying and they have no nurse on the property. Do not waste your money at Clearview. There are many other much better facilities in and around Venice. I am still clean and sober now luckily. I am now in sober living and told my housemates about my experience and they all agreed and said that their old treatment facilities would not have tolerated anything that Clearview did. My cravings were so strong inside compared to now; not only because of time but because I am now in a safe and happy environment with strict rules and fair treatment. I hate giving such a horrible review but I think treatment is crucial for recovery and the treatment center you choose is crucial for success in sobriety. read more

My experience at the Clearview Outpatient offices in Westwood was superb. Even though I'd been in a DBT program years ago, I was ready to resume participating in a full DBT program which includes both therapy and a skills "class." Clearview came highly recommended from two other therapists and I too highly recommend it. I was fortunate to work with Dr. Sandra Powers, Ph.D., as my therapist. My work with her was transformative. For example, I processed and overcame the effects of an event that caused me to suffer from PTSD for decades. I also addressed and developed a plan of action for an issue I hadn't been capable of dealing with for 45 years. Dr. Powers is the consummate professional and her knowledge and use of DBT in her practice is truly effective. The skills "class" is just that. Following the DBT skills book developed by Marsha Linehan, the developer of DBT, we met weekly and worked on one part of one skill followed by "homework" which reinforced the skill. My comprehension and mastery of each skill was and is very high. I realized how necessary and effective the skills class was in working with Dr. Powers and in my day-to-day life. read more

The facilities are well kept and clean. The staff was kind and seemed knowledgeable about substance abuse and addiction. However, I think the dual diagnosis part of treatment is lacking. I suffer from depression and extreme anxiety. I was told I could "do whatever" for the first 72 hours--a "hold". Except I couldn't have my phone or internet or call anyone including my husband. These restrictions and the lack of structure for the initial period wreaked havoc on my anxiety. Even going to the groups there was an hour between each where there was nothing to do and I would just break down and shake in anxiety. Or I could sit on a patio and smoke (a step back for me because vapes are not allowed unless they are one time use). I was not told when I would see a therapist or psychiatrist. Which I desperately hoped was very soon. That was the sort of treatment I needed, not talking about my alcoholism which I certainly have but is under control right now. I needed treatment for my anxiety. I told them I wanted to leave and finally saw a therapist and the director (at the same time) which was helpful for a short time but I was then put back in the numbing anxiety filled existence. I left before the 72 hours were done because I needed something to relieve my anxiety, namely my home and its comforts. I'll be doing the PHP instead so I can still see my husband and cats in the evening and sleep in my own bed. I'm hopeful that the mental illness aspects are more prevalent in this program, since they are what lead to my addiction. read more

Going to treatment is a scary experience. It's scary for the patient and just as much so for parents and family. Most of the treatment centers have nice facilities, nutritious food, gym and yoga access etc. Clearview has all of those things as well but it's not what makes them truly special. Clearview took the scariest day of my life and made me feel like it was going to be ok. What I didn't know then, but I know now, is that as I walked through this experience for myself, they were helping my family navigate it as well. Just as I got the care and resources that I needed, they also made sure that my family was getting the same. Many treatment centers claim to be dual diagnosis. In my experience, Clearview is one of the few programs that legitimately provides duel diagnosis treatment. Great treatment starts with great care. The staff at Clearview is warm, thoughtful, nurturing, and perhaps most importantly, qualified. They are highly educated and experts at treating addictions and mental health issues. The groups and individual sessions that I received were exactly what I needed. My family and I are in the process of recovery now. It is a great relief to know that Clearview continues to be there for us. read more

I have called this facility to get information and my daughter has called too. This was 5 days ago and NO return call. Their website says you can call and speak to a counselor 24 hours a day. NOT. If this is the way they communicate, I am skeptical about their ability to communicate to their patients. read more

Clearview is a wonderful program for recovery, and really takes the time to treat the causes behind addiction and mental health issues. Its residences provide a beautiful and safe environment to learn and grow throughout the recovery process. Terrible. Didn't give me my medication properly. At first, they tried to cold turkey me off all of my medications at once. It was because "none of my medications were approved", even though I made sure with my doctor and their doctor prior to admission that everything would run smoothly. Prior to going, I was told all but one of my medicines were approved. I was assured it would run smoothly, but it did not. I didn't get to take any of my scheduled OR as needed medicines until like midnight my first night. I had to throw a complete fit and get my mother involved to get that too, and was given the bare minimum of my large medication regiment. I am bipolar and have severe panic disorder so my meds are very important. I also get migraines and stomach problems. But you generally can't take medication at night, once the day shift has left, because the night staff isn't properly trained enough, so if you have a panic attack, migraine, etc good luck waiting until morning staff comes. I had to hospitalize myself to escape/stabilize after being there for like barely two days and had such a traumatic time at the ER (as I was not given the proper anxiety related medications prior to leaving). I dissociated completely, my mind left my body and this world. I felt high. That was the worst case of dissociation I've ever had. I told them in the morning that my anxiety was outrageously high and unmanageable, I wanted to kill myself and I neded to go to the ER. I wasn't taken until like 430pm. My pulse was almost dangerously high to the point where I felt I was going to pass out and all clearview gave me was Gatorade. They made me sit out in the cold that whole time too, I had to wave down another client to bring me a snack as I wasn't given breakfast of any sort. I was suppose to return after my hospitalization but they changed their minds last minute and said I wasn't a good fit. Thank God. I went to a place called PCH instead and like at least 5 girls I know here had been to and hated clearview. Oh, PS, Their "stat" policy is ridiculous. If you're "triggered" by anything, at all, or just don't want to listen to a certain song on the radio, or watch a tv show, or take part in a discussion, all you have to do is say "stat" and everyone has to stop doing what they're doing/talking what they're talking about and accommodate the person who just said stat. It's infantilizing and ridiculous. You don't recover if you chronically run from your triggers. You just don't. I get it, sometimes somethings triggering, but they take the whole "triggered" thing to an entirely new level. Also, they only utilize one form of therapy, DBT. I've found for good recovery you need more of a diverse approach. Staff was mostly unhelpful and didn't seem very good at what they did. At one point I was laying on the floor in the hallway in front of their office waiting for someone to help because I had a migraine and they wouldn't give me any medical attention whatsoever. When I spoke to them on the phone while in the hospital and complained about the medication issues, they proceeded to blame me for showing up "late" to my "show up whenever you can, no big deal" admission. read more

Going through the treatment program at Clearview was a complete game changer for me. The staff really helped address the underlying issues of my substance abuse and also really focused on mental health issues. They provided a safe and structured environment where I was able to focus on working on and achieving my own goals, which felt amazing. I feel like I learned and accomplished so much at the residential program and through the different levels of care that I received through Clearview. My individual sessions with my therapist were extremely helpful and all the groups spot on. Exactly what I needed. All the staff were very caring and dedicated to supporting me throughout the process. The director was also super helpful and spent a good deal of time with me when I needed it. They really worked with my individual needs to help me grow in ways I never thought possible. Also, the psychiatrist was amazing. She helped me like nobody before and the staff took great care with medications. The program is located in Venice, which is a great because it's close to a lot of cool night meetings and on the weekends the staff took us out on pleasant day trips. The facilities are kept very clean, while still feeling cozy, which was pretty important to me. The food provided was also excellent. If I could give Clearview more stars, I would. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone struggling with addiction and mental health issues. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. PLEASE do not attend this facility or send a loved one here. From the psychiatrist to the night staff, this place lacks professionalism and care. I am a single mom of two boys who came to get help for depression and anxiety. The psychiatrist told me on my first visit my diagnoses where wrong and that I do not have the diagnoses (given to me by a psychiatrist I've seen for years). I was not allowed to speak to my psychiatrist when I was scared and worried. I broke a rule one day and was put in a room with the door shut and was not allowed to leave (go the restroom or get food). This is called imprisonment. I called the staff on this and they called me a liar. I then called my psychiatrist and reported them. Your therapist isn't hand chosen for you; it's whichever one has the lowest amount of clients. So very wrong. There are much better treatment facilities. Look elsewhere. read more
