​I would like to warn people about CLEAR deceptive trade practices, predatory sales tactics, and fraudulent account enrollment by their staff at the Fort Lauderdale airport. ​On April 22, 2026, my sister and I were at the airport traveling under extreme emotional distress to attend our mother's funeral. We approached an individual we believed to be a TSA or airport authority figure to ask for directions to the standard security line. This individual was actually a sales representative for CLEAR. ​The representative intentionally misled us, stating they would help us through the line quickly, and explicitly stated, "it's not even really anything you have to pay for." He took my credit card, completely operated the terminal himself, and clicked through all the terms, conditions, and contract agreements on our behalf. My sister and I were never allowed to see the screen, review the pricing, or consent to a $418.00 annual subscription ($209.00 per account). ​We never used the service and canceled immediately upon discovering the unauthorized charges on my bank statement. I contacted CLEAR Member Services twice to resolve this, but they refuse to issue a refund, hiding behind a "14-day cancellation policy." ​A cancellation policy is legally void when a company's own employee intentionally conceals the contract and pushes the agreement buttons for the consumer. This is a predatory, unauthorized enrollment. I demanded a supervisor review this case and issue a full refund and all requests were ignored. read more

We first experienced CLEAR when we were on a long flight home from Europe. They captured my husband and I both in line and it was explained that we could use the service that day and that in 2 weeks we would receive and email asking us to cancel or enroll in the service. Neither one of us received the email to cancel the service. My husband was charged for the $209 annual fee without an email asking if he wanted to continue the service; he canceled his service and then the same card was charged again under my email (not even the email associated with his credit card number. Very shady and sleazy! I would never sign up with this company and hope they are soon put out of business by other pre-check services. read more

It's a scam. It saved us no time. In fact it took us more time on a morning when the airport was already busy. We had no time to spare and the "agent" (salesman) stopped us and told us he can get us through TSA without any wait time. That was a bold face lie. They walked us down the same TSA line and we stood in the same line after wasting all the time filling out and PAYING $300 for the "service". I don't suggest anyone stopping for these salesmen. I have had ClearMe since 2017, and at first, they were awesome, even when they had trouble validating my biometrics (eyes and fingerprints) each time I was using them. It is great that they allow you to zip through the crowds at the airports, but their achille heels is their lousy customer service. And I don't mean the ClearMe employees at the airport who were always curteous. I am talking about the customer service when you are online and on their website trying to manage your account, billing and membership, it's a nightmare. There is NO ONE TO TALK TO, you get referred to a chat bot who is mindlessy regurgitating useless information. And if you ask the bot to speak to a live agent like I did today, the wait time was 25 minutes, and when a supposedly live agent finally connected with me asking me what i needed help with, there were no answer after I explained my issues, and I waited and waited for the live agent to answer, until I realized that somehow, I had been disconnected. I created a new chat, with the same result. I am sorry, but it's by design. They do not interested in providing quality customer service, they have not invested in the personnel to make a decent customer service, so after much deliberationso, I decided to cancel my membership. For Frank going to the airport means I wait for no person with my CLEAR credentials, and it's awesome. I don't recommend this company to anyone. My experience at the airport was horrendous. I was not given meaningful information about the services offered, the agent was distracted with multiple other victims of the scam, the agent was unable to answer questions that arose, and said that I would be charged "when i use their service". Clear staff arrived checkpoint one in Seattle right at 4:00 am. But it took five minutes (which many travelers can't spare) to get setup. Even then the monitors weren't working properly. Pre-check was moving faster. I mentioned this to this clear staffer who smugly told me that they have to wait until TSA opens. I wanted to remind her that clear not only waited but lagged behind. She was snarky and didn't seem to enjoy her work. read more

Arrived here at the Seattle airport and listened to one of the representatives from Clear, trying to potential customers out of the TSA line. She was telling people that if you can skip to the front of the line, and you don't have to wait, which was not true because we could all see the clear also has a line. A gentleman pointed out that there was a line up at Cleat and she went on the attack. She was loudly saying, over and over, "it's on you. It's on you." She kept telling him that he absolutely wrong, and she looked like a fool. They are taking money for a service they no longer provide. I've been using this service for almost 20 years and was a beta tester when it was only in 3 airports. For many years it was awesome and took security times even in holiday seasons to no more then 10 minutes and often less. NO MORE! The lines in Austin now take longer than the regular precheck lines- often way longer. This has been going on for over 6 months and their customer service rep told me that they're "trying to find more ambassadors", as if they might locate some looking under a rug or behind a tree. I waited more than 30 minutes from Chicago to Orlando and 40 on my way back to Chicago I was about to miss my flight and I was at the airport with enough time and I barely made it to my gate. clear sucks period I canceled my membership. read more

Scammy sales tactics, and no customer support, or option to cancel. I signed up for a free two week trial at the airport after being sold on it by one of the fast-talking agents. She kept insisting this was a program "like TSA pre-check", but with more benefits, although she did not provide any other details. Basically the sales staff preys on the fact that people are in a hurry to get through security, and also don't have the time at that moment to do a deep dive before they agree to the free trial. That was me. It felt too good to be true, but I bit anyway, so I'll take the L on that part. Here's what this service provides in a nutshell: You know how, in the regular security line, you wait a little while in line, show your ID to a TSA person, and then proceed to the x-ray area where you put your bag on the belt, remove your shoes, etc? Well, the difference here is that you skip the "wait a little while in line" part, and go right to the x-ray area. On paper that sounds great, but in reality, you're still waiting in line with everybody else at the x-ray, and you still have to empty your pockets, remove your laptop, shoes, belt, etc. This is NOT anything like the TSA pre-check program, and it definitely is not worth $190 per year. On an average Monday, it took me the same amount of time to get through using CLEAR as it would have if I had just waited. Once I made it through security, I downloaded the CLEAR app, and deleted the membership I had just signed up for, and, after finding so many terrible reviews on line, felt embarrassed that I had agreed to it so quickly. Fast forward 3 weeks, and I find a charge on my credit card for the yearly membership fee of $189.00. I have tried to contact CLEAR multiple times by phone, and via their support email to no avail. I have only received automated replies to my emails, each signed with different, vaguely fake sounding "employee" names. My only recourse has been to dispute the charge with my credit card company, and have them open a fraud investigation. Even if the charge is removed, I have no confidence CLEAR will delete my personal information from their servers. This company is now in possession of not only my credit card information (which they have already used once without my consent) but also my drivers license info, my ss#, my fingerprints, and my fucking eyeball scans. Read the all of the reviews of this company on Yelp, the Better Business Bureau, Trust Pilot, and elsewhere, and see for yourself what the majority all have in common. Absolutely useless service! Line processes much slower than regular TSA. Machines frequently don't work. Not enough staff to actually use all the machines. Because the service is offered free with most credit cards, there are more people in the clear line than in the regular line while the time per person is longer. A lot of smaller airports don't have clear or only have a specific checkpoint that offers clear. Do not recommend! read more

I've been a member of CLEAR for several years. I fly a lot about 100 K a year so it had been worth it. But since they have so many gimmea, free, enrollments going on, I have found Clear takes longer than if I just go to TSA pre-check, which I have done since January. Seems to me to be pretty expensive for something I am not using in Seattle checkpoint 3. Purchased a family plan in advance of our trip, got the attached confirmation message that the purchase was successful. We get to the airport and go to clear as instructed, and they tell us that the membership wasn't valid and was never added because the additional family user had Clear previously. They wouldn't let us through clear, even though our flight was about to board and the security line had literally overflowed past it's normal area. They sent us back to the normal line, and told us to call customer service, which of course had "longer than normal wait times." Bottom line: poor, unaccountable customer service reps, with a manager who is happy to push issue ownership to the corporate office, rather than try to help the people standing right in front of him. read more

This is designed to bypass the BS we deal with at airports and particularly waiting in line for TSA to abuse us. Signed up for this service on line and then went to the airport to get the biometrics out of the way before we are scheduled to fly in 2 days. My wife was done in under 5 minutes and she has a foreign passport. My experience was awful. At the end of the biometrics portion (fingerprint and retinal scan) there are 2 security questions to ensure that you are legitimate. One asks about the name of a family member and the other is about old addresses you have lived at. Neither one was even close the first try so we tried at another terminal. Same result. I called CLEAR customer service and they said that all they could do was have me talk with Lexxus Nexxus since they did the verification. What a waste of time. read more

I had the most amazing experience today with Alisa!!!!! I was stressed out everything that could go wrong today for me was happening. In a last resort to try to make my flight I purchase the clear. I kept getting sent off to different kiosks and to my blessings Alisa was there and was so sweet and kind. Clear Reps at Seatac airport bring in their customers directly infront of my turn when entering the checkin and security processes. When questioned and asked that I myself stood in the queue for about 40 mins with high anxiety that I will miss my flight, the CLEAR rep showed high handedness and responded in a very rude way. CLEAR must fuck off general queues. If customers are paying extra they should be providing their clients a separate queue and entry points, and not choke general screening lines. read more

It's more expensive and more limited in application than TSA Pre or Global Entry but if you don't mind trading the privacy of your fingerprint and retina records for super convenience, it's great. I've been flying in and out of Seattle for decades, and this make me particularly irritated at all of you folks who've only been doing it for years. I remember when parking was free for the first 30 minutes and there weren't any lines. Yes, I'm happily turning into a curmudgeon, but I'd like to think that's only in certain circumstances. Those circumstances include flying out of SeaTac. It's a mess now. Even early on Sunday mornings I'm astonished at how long the snakes of the lines are to get into through security. All you newcomers have destroyed Seattle. Which is what people said to me when I moved here. CLEAR cleans up the mess and also the unpredictability of the security process. I no longer feel (as much) anxiety about how long it will take me to get from my car to the gate because one of the most irritating and unpredictable variables has been eliminated. All I had to do in return was hand over a credit card for far higher annual bills than any government security programs and give up my fingerprints and retina scan to some unknown digital database. As I'm not on any wanted lists anywhere and don't expect I'll ever be, and as I really value the time I don't have to spend shuffling in those lines, I'm happy to make that trade. Additionally, I signed up for Global Entry because CLEAR isn't everywhere and.....did I mention I really don't like those security lines? read more

CLEAR is such a game-changer at airports, SEA in particular (since it's my home airport). Going through security takes barely five minutes now! I also have TSA Pre, which helps, but this lets you skip the line while reaping all the other benefits of Pre. I'm especially thankful for CLEAR when I travel around holiday weekends. I docked a star because the staff at SEA were pretty infuriating when I was registering. They were distracted and chatting among themselves while I had to wait for them to press the next button on my screen, and then refused to believe that I had TSA Pre (despite me saying so) and insisted on pointing me to the general screening line. read more

I have had Clear for a few years now and up until just recently it was the greatest travel investment I had ever made. I hate waiting in lines and when you combine Clear with TSA precheck your life is so much easier on hectic travel days. As a Delta medallion member, you get discounted prices so that's worth checking into! To add additional family members it's an additional $50, totally worth it. The customer service teams at SeaTac and on the phone are AWFUL. I had never had issues until just recently and it took them upwards of a month to figure out why my family members were struggling to add their biometrics at the airport. I had several tickets filed AT THE AIRPORT because we were trying to go on vacation and the registration would not work. It blew my mind that not a single person until just the other day was able to " diagnose my issue". According to the latest woman I spoke to the reason why my family was not able to register their biometrics was because my " payment method declined". This seems like a super easy fix, no? Why did it take 6 different people telling me that it was likely the passport or the email address? This is just insane. Now I have added my payment method again and I am assured by customer service that this will resolve the issue. I'm not overly convinced and extremely annoyed that no one thought to look at something so basic on the account. They also never reply to emails and leave you hanging. Their CS really needs some TLC because this is not ideal, especially during the holidays. read more

Hello! My teenage daughters frequently travel and we usually walk them to the gate with a gate pass. We were using CLEAR, to expedite through security, as the lines are terrible at SEATAC, until we went to the airport last week . They had, without any prior notification, "changed their policy" so that we could not use the service if we are only on a gate pass and not a passenger. They directed us to the regular, horrible TSA line and barely made my daughter's flight, and then this was only because I had fortunately left a time cushion. We would have missed otherwise because of this. We cancelled our account now and got a refund. We all just signed up for TSA PreCheck instead. This company seems to use predatory sales practices at SeaTac. Placing agents at general screening lines and masquerading as official SeaTac employees causes confusion for most. They direct travelers who are running late or in a rush to use the "faster" check in line across the way. When in fact, the line across the way is actually longer and slower! This leads inidivuals who are already stressed and pressed for time into an undesirable situation. Either they join their program... or you're late for your flight. I saw at least 3 to 4 travelers who were stuck in this position during my time here. Would not touch this service with a 10 ft long pole if this is how they acquire customers. read more
