A facial experience with Beauty Republic is really unlike anything else out there. One of the things that drew me to them is that they were willing to use only products that contained plant ingredients. I'm unable to use products with synthetic chemicals because my body is very sensitive to them. Many skincare businesses have a problem with this because so many products that are out there are not actually clean and non-toxic. This was not a problem at Beauty Republic though. Not only did my skin feel fantastic post-facial, they sell products that I can buy to use at home, and there are so many options to choose from that meet my criteria of being clean and non-toxic! Beauty Republic is now located at the address reflected on their business page here on Yelp. The studio is actually located on a residential property, but it is NOT inside the main house. They make sure to provide you with instructions via text message the day of your appointment, which is very helpful. The studio is now officially a team of two, lead by founder Marissa Duarte and her sister in law Vanessa. The services no longer include nails services. Their focus is entirely on skincare. Vanessa does offer waxing and lash lift/tinting services though! So, if you are looking for a place that is entirely dedicated to facials of various kinds with a holistic approach, this is it! And it's LOVELY. The studio is cozy and super well appointed. I was super relaxed the entire time. I went in for a facial that included gua sha with Vanessa. Vanessa is incredibly sweet and fun to talk to before and after your session. She keeps the session chat free so that you can indulge in all the relaxation possible and I loved it! Another nice aspect to their business is that it is a gratuity free zone, meaning that the pricing on their website is what you pay for and that's it. So you can think of it as the gratuity is included. I've never experienced that before and I must say it's a really nice way to enjoy a treatment. After my facial, Vanessa was gracious with her time and gave me some tips on how to use my gua sha stone at home. My son and I booked head spa services expecting a relaxing experience, but unfortunately, it fell far short. My son is just over 6 feet tall, and the bed was too small for him--he had to brace his feet against the wall the entire time. Partway through, the water halo on his bed stopped working, and instead of addressing the issue, they simply didn't use it for the remainder of his service. The ambiance had potential, but one bright white bulb in the otherwise soft lighting setup was positioned directly in my line of sight, making it difficult to relax. The massage portion was also underwhelming--it felt more like a quick application and wipe-down of products rather than an actual massage, and there was so much product used that I was goopy and sticky afterward. About halfway through, both of us started experiencing back pain from the uncomfortable beds, and it lingered enough that we needed to take pain medication afterward. To make matters worse, my hair was never properly washed and still felt greasy when I left--I had to go home and shower immediately. My son wasn't cleaned off at the end either and left with greasy product still on his upper body. I was also supposed to receive a blow-dry, which was never offered. She was so gentle when removing the nasty white heads that grow under my skin and made sure I was relaxed the entire time. I felt no pain at all.
