Matt, the team member helping me out showed exceptional customer service. He gave me a very detailed analysis of the quality of glasses that I had purchased. He was able to point out the various ways in which they should fit and how they didn't. He was able to adjust them perfectly for my face and eyes. He did not charge me for the information and the work, but requested that I told 3 people about my experience. This is the best way I could come up with to reach a large number of people. All told, I would stop going to my other optometrist, stop buying glasses online, and go to Target Optical just because of the excellent quality of service that I received at this location.

UPS tracking confirmed my order was delivered to the store on 8/3 at 9am and signed for by someone named Jesse. I arrived around 5pm the same day to pick it up. The associate helping me at the counter, also named Jesse, could not locate my order anywhere and told me to come back another day. I do not understand how an order that arrived at 9am, and is a medical device I need to see, could not be processed and made available within the same business day. When I walked in trying to get help, an associate was sitting on their phone, so it clearly was not a staffing or time issue. Since then I have tried every channel available to get this resolved. I called customer service and went through a long phone tree only to be told the department was closed. I contacted live chat twice. In the first chat, I was told the order would be "investigated" with no real timeline, just a case number, and when I asked to speak with a supervisor, the agent ended the chat entirely without any response. In the second chat, a different agent told me chat cannot transfer to a supervisor at all and that I would need to call in. Days later, I still do not have my contacts. Tracking shows they were delivered and signed for at the store, but no one on staff or in support has been able to explain where they actually are or produce them. I have had to escalate this in writing to the company directly and file complaints with the Better Business Bureau and my vision insurance provider just to try to get a refund. If you are considering in-store pickup for a time-sensitive item like contacts, be aware that "delivered to store" does not mean the store can actually find or give you your order, and getting help when something goes wrong is extremely difficult. This has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I have had, and I would not rely on this store or this pickup option again.

Packerland Eyecare, though a bit out of my way, came to the rescue, with a same day appointment booked via the Target Optical website. Dr. Dierks was pleasant and professional, and got me in and out with a prescription with a minimum of annoyance. I declined the dilation (though you can return within 30 days and have it done), paid my $60, and was off to order frames. It is a little confusing that they are located inside Target, inside the Target Optical, but are their own separate business, but ok, fine, whatever. However, what is really irritating me is that they somehow automatically scheduled me for an appointment a year later. Plus, though I just got an email reminder about this appointment that I didn't ask for and can't go to (moving to Alabama), there is no way to cancel it online. Do I seriously have to call to cancel an appointment that I never scheduled? I get that people tend to wait too long for an exam (I was several years overdue), but this "solution" seems more than a little ridiculous.

This office has a "policy" if you are 10 minutes late, they will not see you. EVEN if you call them…read moreto tell them you are lost and ask for clear directions because your maps sent you on a wild chase. EVEN if you explain to them you are new to the area and you tried to find it but couldn't because your maps steered you wrong and you called them on the way. EVEN if you waited weeks for this appointment and have an eye condition so severe you can barely keep your eyes open because it hurts so bad. Seeing the patient visibly upset at all of this and STILL turning them away without even bothering to speak to them to find out why they would be so upset is horrible customer service. You don't hide behind a policy for every instance. It's not a law, some cases can be fixed. If they had spoken to this patient they would have learned that her husband died 1 year ago this day. They had the audacity to tell me, maybe she should not have scheduled the appointment on this day to begin with. I highly advise going somewhere else.
