I had a load of clothes to do last Sunday morning and stopped at the Ames branch of Squeaky Clan. Everything seemed to be there: nice washer and dryers, roomy and clean facilities, a place to purchase laundry detergent, and an ATM to get cash (which I did). But! The change machine was out-of-order! So without a source of quarters and no available means to put this on a credit card, I was basically screwed. Onwards to Squeaky Clean in Boone.....

My recent Sunday morning load of laundry was done there in Boone, as Squeaky Clean's outpost in Ames didn't provide any means for obtain quarters. There were no such issues here in Boone, aside from having to feed more quarters in than I expected. The Laundromat itself was clean and spacious, and with plenty of washers, dryers, and folding tables available. Fellow patrons were a mix of families, single adults, and students. There was also a clean restroom available and easy access to my car and the street. The bottom line was that my clothes came out clean and dry.

I didn't bring enough money…read more $4 for a simple wash of 28 min with a rinse cycle that just sprinkles while spinning. $2 for simple dryer of 38 min. Need to use high heat which destroys clothes. Should be at least 45 min. Unfortunately I'm from out of town and didn't know until it was too late. Big ripoff. Doubtful my clothes are clean. At least they use Speed Queen top loaders from WI. American made machines. 2 stars only because of prices.

Plenty of machines, the cleanliness, the openness were all great. But over the past year, it has all gone downhill. I put money in the change machine, a $20 bill in fact and received only $1.25 in change. I left three notes and made two phone calls and was assured that I would be reimbursed. Two months later still nothing. And more and more machines are tagged as out of order. What happened to this place in the past year? Poor management and maintenance.

Dryers are efficient actually can dry in medium heat. They keep the dryers clean too - no screws or gum. I love that they have a restroom and booth seats.
