The wash is fantastic, but there are a couple of things on which they can improve. For example, they ask that you not steer, put the car in neutral, and not brake upon entering the car wash. I get it, but at the end of the entire cycle, when I'm prompted to exit, I have to step on the brake in order to shift from neutral to drive. Often, there have been cars being cycled through which were just a few feet from my rear bumper. ALSO, there wasn't a lot of thought that went into their website and it shows. For example, if you have an issue, i.e., canceling a membership, an inquiry, etc., then you must call their corporate headquarters in Ohio, instead of the local branch. Just creates headaches, especially when they're gone for the weekend. Too bad because, like I said, their car washes are actually very good. read more

I normally hand wash my car, but I received a coupon in the mail for a free VIP wash from Clean Car Express, so I gave them a shot. My car had been hit by a lot of bird waste over the past week and was pretty gross, so it was a true test of the quality of the wash. I visited shortly after 5 p.m. on a Friday, and went right in without any wait. The attendants who assisted me were very polite and helpful. The fellow at the payment kiosk wrote something on my windshield to make sure the guy at the entrance of the wash took care of all of the bird hate I experienced. Pretty nice, eh? The wash was outstanding, and only took about three minutes to go through. Their industrial dryers completely dried my Mercury Milan, aside from a few strays drops by my trunk. All of the nasty bird waste was gone, too. While I tend to avoid commercial car washes because of the potential damage to my car's clear coat, if I am in need of a quick, high quality car wash, I will definitely visit Clean Car Express again. read more

I paid $14 for the VIP wash + Rain X and almost a week later, my car still looks great even after driving through a storm. The price is a little steep for Pittsburgh but it's the one of the only car washes that's near me so I will go back. Like others mentioned, bring a towel if you mind water stains. read more

Service: Helpful and attentive Quality: Better than most places in Pittsburgh. I've been here twice now, and both times have been more than satisfactory experiences. What to expect: Enter in through a long driveway, which leads to a pay station. You can select what type of wash and you can pay by cash or card. After paying, you drive up to the actual car wash which at that point, you'll see workers there who will hose your car down with a powerful spray of some kind of soap water. You will be asked to park during this time for safety reasons. At this point, you will be motioned to pull up and shift your gear into neutral. The machine will pull you in and then you get to enjoy the view and relax. At the end, don't panic! There is a light that will indicate when you shift your car into drive (yellow for relax and green for drive) and then you can drive out to the vacuum stations or go home. It is important to realize that you are only paying for the wash itself. Everything else is self service, so if you don't like miniature water drop stains, bring your own towel to dry things off. The vacuum stations accept $1, $5, and $10 bills. There are no change machines, so make sure you bring the appropriate amount for what you need or want. $1 is equivalent to 1 token. 1 token equates to 4 minutes but beware! As soon as you slip the token in, the vacuum starts up immediately. I pay about $10-$14 per wash, depending on what I want. It's a great place for a quick and easy wash. read more

Just when I was starting to think there wasn't a place near Shadyside for me to get my car washed, I searched yelp and found this place. I took my Kia Sorento to Clean Car Express around noon on a Thursday and there wasn't a line anywhere. I redeemed 4 tokens in exchange for $1 and used the vacuum for the timed 4 minutes- the vacuum worked well and cleaned my car thoroughly. The service was extremely friendly for the car wash. I went with the basic wash. I love that they have someone who guides you into the car wash and then hoses down your car to get the "trouble areas" like bird droppings, mud, etc. The basic wash worked well and cleaned my car great. The car cleaned well, even got my tires a nice touch. However, the service was harrowing. My car was having an issue going into neutral. I tried explaining this phenomena well over five times. Instead of understanding and helping me with my issue, they instead yelled, dare I saw howled, at me. I received ten incoherent and curt instructions at once. They were uncommunicative, harsh, and judgmental. I even heard them gossiping about me behind my car. I've been to numerous car washes and never had any issues. I was sexually harassed here by two attendants working who made sexual gestures at me as they laughed with each other. When I spoke to management he told me he would have to review his tapes to make sure I wasn't lying before he could decide if he was going to reprimand the 2 employees. It's hard to find decent car washes in the Oakland/Shadyside/East Liberty area. Fortunately, this place is here to save the day (or at least your car). The prices range from $8 for the most basic wash to $13 for the "VIP Wash," which includes the basic wash plus wheel brightening, high pressure blasters, clear coat protectant, and underbody wash. You can also choose to add $1 to the VIP Wash for the Rain-X, which would otherwise cost $3. On a non-busy day, you can be in and out within 5 minutes. On a busy day, it can end up being 15 minutes. Nevertheless, all the staff here are professional and helpful, and they do a good job of getting you to pull up as quickly as possible to keep the line moving. After you get your car washed, there is an area where you can park your car and vacuum your car. For $1, you get a token that will give you 5 minutes to vacuum. Overall, great and quick service. This place is great for a basic exterior wash. However, for thorough detailing, especially for your interior, you should take your car someplace else. read more

This place has a pay station before you enter and then you pull up your car into the tunnel. There was a young gentleman that helped me with the pay station, and another that prepped my car (birds bombed my car earlier in the week) with the power washer. You stay in the car, and the tunnel itself does the satisfactory job. There isn't anyone drying your car at the end, so if dry water stains bother you, bring a towel. There are do-it-yourself vacuum machines once you exit the wash (towards the front of the car wash) where you can use cash to convert them to vacuum tokens. read more

This was my first time coming here. To vacuum your car, you have to use tokens. The token machine takes ones, fives, and tens. After I vacuumed my car, I went through the carwash. I paid $10 for a basic wash and an underbelly flush. The staff were pleasant and helpful. read more

I had my car washed at Clean Car Express in May. This place is AWESOME - having a better and longer car wash garage then typical ones. My vehicle had been transported from California to Pennsylvania and covered by dust or stain that was hard to completely remove in a regular car wash store. But my car was cleaned within just one cycle in Clean Car Express! And the price is reasonable for the result at that time. Back in California (and basically anywhere else), it is difficult for me to find a car washing store with such impressive equipment and service. Love this car wash- I go on Mondays and get the ladies pricing VIP with the rain-x treatment. Their vacuums are the best but you'll have to get coins from the machine so have a few dollars. I do wish they were open later- they close at 5:30. Also I always pick the vacuum where the people working can see me because some of the other customers can get chatty and creepy. read more

The worst experience ever. I used to always get my cat washed here and vacuum after and have given them hundreds of dollars and I was just vacuuming my cat and the guy cut vacuuming my short after less than a minute. (It was supposed to be 4 minutes and a guy came over and rudely said can't you see we are closed. I thought only the wash was closed and not the vacuums. Fast, easy and cheap. It's the best place I've found in Pittsburgh thus far. My only wish is that they had some folks willing to hand-dry cars when they come out of the car wash. This was my first time visiting Clean Car Express, though I pass them all the time on my way to work. Since Monday is "Ladies Day" (meaning I got the VIP Wash including Basic Wash, Wheel Brite, Underbody Flush & Clear Coat for $10 intead of the normal $13 because I'm female), I figured this was a good day to go. I did not use the self-serve vacuums at all. While the staff were pleasant ad the automated wash was *extremely* fast (they advertise it as a "3 minute wash"), I was fairly disappointed with the results. I drove immediately from the car wash to an interview less than 5 miles away, and when I got there I had a chance to inspect the outside of the car. Yes, I know it's Winter, with lots of snow, slush & salt on the roads, and yes I know it's hard to keep a car clean for any length of time in these road & weather conditions, but C'MON!! There was already (or still??) snow marks all over the lower half of the car (making me think there was no "clear coat"), water spots on ALL the windows & both mirrors, and well as what looked like large spots of wax or something similar on the back bumper. There was also still the same spots of bird-poop on my hood that had been there when I entered. Overall, I'm extremely dissatisfied, ESPECIALLY since I got the supposedly "VIP Wash." read more
