    Thousand Island Maple Whiskey
    Tim S.

Drove down to Clayton just on a whim from Alex Bay NY - have a friend who is a huge whiskey fan and so we decided to stop by and do a tasting. This place is relatively new and is very nice. They have a large range of whisky and bourbons, so we did the 6 flight tasting. All were good, some better than others, however the standout was the thousand islands maple whiskey, which we ended buy several bottles.. Definitely a nice little stop along the way to Cape Vincent and Sackets Harbor..

    So good

Don't pass by this little gem in Clayton! We loved the "Moonshine slushy" and bought delicious apple pie shine and Lemonade Shine!

He walked us through how their distillery works and how the grains are locally sourced. They have quite a few options and some very unique options like Garlic Vodka and Ginger Vodka. The different gins were great to taste side by side as well as tasting the whiskey side by side. Their canned vodka coolers are delicious, we coudn't leave without buying some. We walked away really enjoying the experience and the craft alcohols. Had to get a few bottles to take home, and the mini bottles are a great option with the 4 pack for $40. I had to get the garlic vodka, it is just so unique and he suggested using it in a Caesar or Bloody Mary, so we will try that.

We initially went into the brewery for a few cans, and ended up taking a peek next door at this distillery as well, where we found out that they use local farm-grown ingredients to distill vodka and rum, and we got a tour of the facility although they are not distilling anything at the moment. Fascinating! The equipment is large; I can't imagine trying to do this on the QT during prohibition!! We we offered samples of their organic rum, a vodka cooler, as well as garlic flavoured vodka!! This was amazing!! We took some home, and I will for sure cook with it! This place (and the brewery next door) was certainly worth the visit. We will be back... once we get low on what we purchased!

I did 3 events in Kingston with this group. None were disappointing, and I was actually glad I made such a fabulous discovery in my own country. The first event was a special paranormal investigation at the Mill of Kintail. This was an incredible experience. I did get put into a group instead of being allowed to investigate on my own, which was not the most fun. I felt like I was a fourth wheel and had to go along with what everyone wanted, which was to rush through a lot of things. We did get to see a film at the beginning, which was informative and helpful and also showed other investigators experiencing the paranormal at the Mill. We started off at the front house, which used to be the family's main house and while using the Ouija board, it did move a bit and I saw a shadow figure in the kitchen, which was terrifying (but I enjoy that kind of thing). The mill was the best part. And there was even a huge thunderstorm that kicked up. Ethel's bedroom had a strange feel to it and the attic was creepy, especially with the lightning. Beyond anyone's control was the tornado watch that night. We were sent away early and had to walk through the woods in the storm, but it's a good thing they did end early. I honestly thought I might die that night. Purple lightning and winds that blew the car around, trees in the road. Most scared I've been in my life. A few nights later, I did the haunted walk through downtown. Liam was our guide. He is one of the best storytellers I've ever met and so polite and kind. We visited many historical buildings and Liam was so knowledgeable about Kingston and its history. I told him he could teach a few things to the haunted tour guides in New Orleans, and I wasn't kidding. We had a couple of people late to the event and after missing my trolley tour for FOUR minutes, it did my heart good to see this tour company wait for everyone. One thing that disappointed me greatly was that none of the other participants, despite raving about how much they enjoyed the tour, tipped our guide. Most were Americans (I am too, a dual citizen) so I know you know better. I tipped him in hopes of making up for that. Shame on them. He never missed a beat, was immensely entertaining, took pictures, answered questions. Come on. The last tour was at Fort Henry. Peter was the guide and every bit as wonderful as Liam. Very knowledgeable, patient when we wanted to ask questions or stop to take pictures. Well spoken and kind. Also, a very good and compelling storyteller. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour too. We heard about misfortunes that happened to the soldiers as well as paranormal experiences had by others. I didn't see anything, but you could feel charged energy in the air. You do get to go to the top of the fort and the views, especially at sunset, were breathtaking. I'm a little slow on the stairs with my RA but Peter always stopped to check on me. It didn't look like many tipped her either, but I tried to make up for it. Like Liam, Peter did such a wonderful job!! In NOLA all the tour guides have signs or even say if you enjoyed it, we do accept tips. They deserve it. These tours REALLY made my trip to Kingston. Now, I'm excited to return in October for the Fort Fright event. Thank you so much for making my 56th birthday trip so special. The people at this tour company have created something extra special and they are so nice. Just great human beings! Book a tour...but tip your guide!

We were in a group, so we didn't mind squishing together for warmth. Our guide, Cameron, was really into his role as guide and I would recommend his services. It was good fun on a lovely night.
