What an amazing experience! The lady that helped us was actually the part owner! She was so detailed in each wine and gave us so much information that was outstanding! A restaurant in nearby Alex Bay was serving Coyote Moon wines. I otherwise never would have heard of this place. To be more precise: our server at said restaurant offered up a sample of the Twisted Sister wine and that's what sold me on making a special trip out to the winery. I wanted to buy a bottle of the sweet red. That was my main goal. When you pull up to the tasting room, you'll likely notice that the place is not much bigger than a shack, but it's welcoming. On the day I was there, it was sunny and warm. It was the perfect wine-day. I walked in with my mom and the college student manning the room carded both of us. This was the second time in my life (and second time in the day) that a winery had carded me -- and it was the second time that my mom had been carded right along with me. The guy explained that more mature adults like to be carded, too, to "feel young." My mom just found it to be a waste of her time. I had eight tastes here. I can't remember what most of them were -- mostly because many of them were just eh. They weren't bad, but they weren't for me. I did leave well-stocked with three bottles of Twisted Sisters (stuff is so good), as well as Fireboat White and Brianna. Prices are extremely affordable. This place is worth a stop if you're in the area. read more

Not the largest vineyard in the area but you don't have to be large to produce a great wine. This vineyard has been recognized over several years for producing excellent wine. The ladies in the shop are very knowledgeable about their products and extremely pleasant and cheerful. We'll definitely will return. read more

I'm an out of towner who visits family. Many wineries in the local area and this one is great. Great service and great taste. It's clean. The fermenting room is beautiful. The store I always end up finding something unique to buy. I'm all about the razzle dazzle and my husband loves the fire boat white. I bought two cases of wine and a pourer last time I was in. When I'm out I'll go back for more!! The testing is also well worth the couple of dollars!! One time I was in there, there was generous pours the next was a lot less. I think it depends on the season and who's behind the tasting bar. read more

We were visiting Clayton (and have visited before). We came in for a tasting and my partner opted out of having a tasting because she felt like she had had enough at a previous Winery. I decided to do the tasting and even though my partner wasn't drinking the picture is the "pours" I was served. The pour was what I received for all of my sample pours and I felt pressured to leave the entire time. I couldnt sip anything without the woman pulling out the next wine to pour me a sip to try and get me to leave. It's honestly laughable when we come from Bluemont VA where breweries and wineries are a huge thing. Not only that but after an hour of being at the location, when asked for one glass of wine we were turned away. I'd suggest anyone looking for a winery to drive the 5 minutes down the road to 1000 islands winery. The customer service is 100x better and the wine is better. Me and my family will not be back in the future. read more

When my sister told me we should go wine tasting I was all for it. Then she told me Coyote Moon does a lot of sweet wines. Blech. No, thanks. Of course, being the good sport I am I went a long for the ride. Mainly because she was driving and I was the lowly passenger and visitor. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a very happy and enthusiastic staff. YES! I love it already. I think I really like wine tasting in NY because there are no tasting room fees. They allow you to taste up to 4 (I think) for free then you just pay for any others. As a Californian do you know how awesome that is?! In Napa you might pay up to $20 a person to taste wines. I tasted my 4 and each one I tasted was good, not great or knock my socks off, but good. I bought a bottle of the chardonnay to take home. Mainly because whenever I travel I bring home booze. Some people bring home t-shirts and fridge magnets, I bring home the local booze. My sister tasted and bought something that was beyond sweet that it almost tasted like cough syrup. Definitely wasn't my style but it worked for her. Aside from having good wines to purchase there are other things like fresh pasta and salsa (no, not to have together) and wine knick knacks like shirts and corkscrews and such. I think the best part of Coyote Moon is the back patio. It looks like the perfect place to throw a party. read more

Went to their fall festival and it was very fun. Bouncy houses set up if you have kids to keep them occupied, live music, a bunch of businesses had tents selling their wares and offering free samples. Wine,...beer....food. Etc! read more

This review is for the wine shop extension in Clayton on Riverside Drive.) The 6 tables on the spacious deck have unobstructed views of the St. Lawrence river and the various islands. Great place to taste and buy a bottle of coyote moon wines. They also have about 5 bottles of beer, as well as wine slushies. There is also a small menu of sides. They include a slate table for two ( mozzarella wrapped prosciutto, crackers, herbed mozzarella, fruits and various meats), cheese platter, etc. They also operate a Friday & Saturday wine boat cruise. read more

You can get 6 tastings for $4.00; along with information about the wines you are tasting. There were a few I really enjoyed, but I don't usually spend their prices for wine, so I just bought one bottle as a gift. Cayla was very nice and attentive. Glad we went today instead of yesterday when she said they were swamped!! The guys had a local beer and my friend got a wine slushy. I will keep the tasting card Incase I want to order some to be shipped. read more

This is by far the best wine tasting experience I have had, the wines were amazing and Heather was great. She made the experience better, her knowledge of the wines and tips on how to get even more flavor from a wine was very enlightening. When I visit my daughter in Ca, we usually go wine tasting and I love it. I have never had New York wine before and it was great. Hubby not a wine person :( but I persevered anyway. Ben, Kyle and Jeannie were so great they just made what is already a five star winery a true 10. We could not have been more impressed with all the knowledge they shared, the hospitality they provided and just their true interactions with our whole party. Thank you all for making our day away one to remember. In addition to the staff to have all the varieties of wines you are sure to find your niche and taste. Medal after medal wines from Whites, Blends, Reds and then add table, sweets, semi, bold to that mix it's over the top. This is probably my favorite vineyard in the region. We did a tasting with Chelsey as our host. She was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Chelsey also let us know about different wines that mix together, which I never thought was something you could do before. The wine was amazing. Wonderful place to try some new wine! The tastings cost $4 and you got to pick out six wines out of their whole list. You also got this sheet with the names of the wines where you could read about the wine's descriptions and rate them after you tasted it. The employees were so friendly and helpful. For each wine, they described any unique attributes about the wine and any favors to expect. The prices of the bottles were very reasonable ($13-25). Great place to try that I would wholly recommend, and I'm hoping to buy more wine from them in the future! read more

A local entrepreneur is joining what he calls the start of "a booming wine industry" in New York."It's an absolute passion," said Philip J. Randazzo, owner of the Whiskey Islands Lodge in Clayton, who started his own vineyard this year. Mr. Randazzo recently planted 2,600 vines of cold-hardy grapes on four acres this year and looks forward to using all 90 acres he has available for grape production along East Line Road. Mr. Randazzo has been planning his winery with his wife, Mary S., for the past two years. The couple has been researching, consulting several organizations, including Cornell Cooperative Extension and the University of Michigan, and purchasing equipment for the vineyard."I think it's fun to be in the front of a new booming industry," Mr. Randazzo said.Mr. Randazzo said Northern New York can become a popular region for wine production if local cultivators start looking to turn their vacant land into vineyards to meet the increasing demand for grapes.

We both enjoyed flights of their wine. I'm hoping to visit their vineyard next time! The wine tasting bar is a great option for a quick stop and preview of what they offer!

The setting is beautiful, dining outdoors, wonderful service, great wine and delicious food! I had the shrimp, which were perfection, but so we're the vegetables! The most delicious and huge broccoli I may have ever had and the sweetest honey carrots! Everything was cooked to perfection and the wine was so good, we bought a bottle to take home! We're close enough that we walked there and home, and can't wait to bring guests!
