The salesman, Lance, was very friendly during the purchase, but unfortunately did not stand by his word afterward. I bought a 2022 Ford Explorer, and within just five days, both the headlight and cruise control stopped working. I've since been told the repairs will cost around $3,800. We reached out to Lance to see if the dealership could help address these issues, but never received a response. Based on our initial interaction, we trusted that this was an honorable business that would stand behind what they sell, but that hasn't been our experience. I wish we would have read the reviews before coming here! Now we see why they only rate 2.2 When a vehicle develops significant problems so soon after purchase, customers deserve support and accountability. The car buying experience with Clay Maxey Ford was excellent. I was looking for a Ford Mustang Mach-E and decided to search outside my home state. I found a Mach-E Premium in their inventory that had all the features I wanted, even though it wasn't my preferred color. I reached out to Lance Watt and Stacy King, and they quickly provided a transparent out-the-door (OTD) price. After comparing offers with several local dealerships, I decided to move forward with Clay Maxey. When I let them know my travel plans, Stacy had the car fully charged and ready upon my arrival on February 20th. I performed a quick inspection, and everything checked out perfectly. The entire process was smooth and efficient -- I was in and out of the dealership in about an hour. Best of all, they didn't try to upsell me on anything I didn't want or need. A few weeks later, when I had an issue with the window tint, I contacted Lance and Stacy. They asked me to find a local tint shop, get it redone, and send them the invoice so they could cover the cost. Their willingness to stand behind the vehicle even after the sale was impressive. I only wish I lived closer, as I'm confident they would have helped resolve a current paint issue I'm dealing with (which has now been escalated to Ford). I highly recommend shopping outside your home state when buying a vehicle -- you might find a better deal, just like I did. I purchased a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado form Clay Maxie Ford and paid top dollar price, as they assured me I was getting a very good vehicle. After driving the vehicle for 1227 miles the transmission went out on it. I purchased 'As Is', but after being assured this was a great vehicle and only driven 1227 miles, I expected some help. No, I was told 'Too bad'. we found a few vehicles online. arriving we met the salesman, Dalton, who seemed nice enough and had some knowledge about the vehicles we were interested in. we decided to purchase so we sat down with Dalton to do our initial application, specifically explaining the home landline number vs cell phone. we had no worry about credit scores so we figured the approval would be quick. the banks obviously needed to give us a call to verify our information. we were told four or five times the bank was calling us but NO call(s) came. we waited and waited and waited AND waited. Blake, the financial rep, tried to be nice about the situation but even he couldn't understand why we weren't getting any calls. he or someone in his his department finally realized, the LANDLINE on the application. when i found this out, i was ready to walk but the individual i was with wanted to wait it out. no wonder we weren't getting any calls. the difference between a home landline (which we weren't at) and a cellphone (which we had in our hands). clay maxey went thru FOUR banks to secure a loan because the application was completed incorrectly. we sat in the office for six hours! the only reason we stayed was because we really wanted to purchase the vehicle. interest rates are bad enough. yes, we eventually got a loan. will i ever deal with this company again? nope. lesson learned that 1) don't trust the salesman to fill in the application correctly, 2) the financial people get the brunt of the frustration even when it's not their fault and 3) request to see everything especially when the application is done electronically. now i have to request unwarranted hard checks on my credit to be removed. i would have given a 1 if the review was just for the salesman but giving a three because of Blake, the financial guy. wish it could have been higher but not knowing the difference between a landline and a cellphone is pretty inexcusable. :( read more

Disappointing service and bad service advisor. Do yourself a favor and investigate some of the better alternatives in the area. Our vehicle broke down on July 4th while on vacation from Michigan. Not knowing the area, we had it towed to this dealer. I called as soon as they opened the next day at 8am to explain our situation and see if they had availability. The service advisor said they'd be able to look at it that morning no problem. After morning had passed with no communication, I called and was told the technician was busy but would be able to look at it before the end of the day, but no promises. On my way to the dealership around 3pm to see what was happening myself, I finally was called with a diagnosis. After vague timing promises and a cost estimate, I had the vehicle towed to another shop. I wish I had not used this dealer as their bad promise cost my family a wasted vacation day. The other shop had it fixed in two days with kept promises, great service, and lower cost than Clay Maxey. read more

I have never felt more unwelcome in a place of business in my life. The person who took our order through the service department, to see whats wrong with my truck, was very to the point and seemed perturbed we were there in the first place. When I went to pick it up the lady standing behind the counter seemed to have the same attitude and pointed us to the correct counter. The guy who ran my debit card just threw my card on the counter and gave me my keys. Never told me where my truck was parked. There was a lady sitting just outside the service area at a desk... she smiled and said hello.. Best employee there that day. No one else smiled. This dealership is just out for the buck regardless of customer safety. My parents bought a used vehicle from here and immediately taken to mechanics shop thinking it needed some front end work but after 2 mechanics looking at the vehicle it was deemed unsafe to be driven. The frame was so rusted there was nowhere left to bolt the tie rods onto the frame. They were told they were surprised they didn't have a wreck due to the cars condition. I have tried to contact and reconcile the issue many times but after knowing what it was the general manager will not return a call!! Do not ever use this dealership.... read more

Long story short.I went thru all the trouble with a sales person to order a new Ford truck with all the options I wanted.Was expecting to put a deposit down &500.00 and that's a normal..Gonna trade in my 2019 F250 Turbo diesel when it came in.Was informed that they require $1000.00 to place an order.I was just gonna put it on a credit card.Told them i would put $500.00 as it would take 3 or more month to get in.They said NOPE.Never had a deal go south like that..Do yourself a favor don't waste your time at this dealership.Can't imagine the service after the sale! I would never recommend this place to anyone looking to buy a vehicle! Their warranties don't cover what they should and your vehicle will need more service than expected no matter how pretty you may think it is.
