This place was great. Setting was casual with a great view and they let us bring our dog. Lobster roll and fried shrimp roll we're delicious. read more

lobster mac and cheese was not good at all. there was a weird after taste and hardly any lobster.

Man oh man. This Okie loves himself some fresh lobster and Claws did not disappoint! So darn good. Going back for dinner tonight; why mess with anything less than great? read more

Whoever thinks some other place has a better lobster roll? They got rocks in their head. THIS is the best roll in Maine. Short line to wait in, for one thing. PERFECT shaded seating right on the water - NOT across the street from the water. And the cheapest roll has at least a half pound - maybe more! - of pure claw meat on a perfect light bun. I have no idea how they stuffed that much lobster meat into that little roll! And SO fresh - you can see the processing plant right across the bay - that claw meat was never in any truck! I had 7 different rools in my week in Maine - and this was head and shoulders abobe the rest. And I almost forgot - GREAT selection of local craft beers! Juicy NE IPA + biggest freshest lobster roll ever = Nirvana. read more

Got ripped off, Ordered the Ultimate Down Easr Feast. Was shorted the cup of chowder, the coleslaw, and the chips My wife ordered the Lazy Lobster Dinner and was shorted the ole slaw and the chips. Had to wait one and one half hours to get what we got. We took a menu with us and latter discovered the shortages. Will not be back! If you do go check everything to make sure you get what you pay for. I expected better service for $82.00 for two dinners, In response to your response: You have us mixed up with someone else that had a problem. My wife did not call you and did not order the lobster bisque. I know you were busy and should have checked to see that I had what I paid for. It is my fault because I trusted your employees. read more

This place is so great! The lobster mac and cheese is SO good, definitely an awesome hang out spot

We had the shore dinner. Lobster, muscles, corn, and french fries. It was so fresh and so much of it. The atmosphere out side in the evening is really nice. You have to order at the window and return to pick it up. It is well worth the trip to Rockland Me. read more

Great food, great staff!!! If your into lobster, Claws is a terrific walk up and order super casual way to fill your deepest seafood needs. Corn and sides are not perfect, but the lobster is perfect. Can get busy so come early. Love the staff! read more

a little bit of a wait during lobster fest, was best seafood we had all week. great views.

A long wait, but totally worth it. We got the lobster roll (cold with mayo, of course, although they offer hot ones too), a pound of steamers and bacon-wrapped scallops. The lobster roll was generously proportioned. The steamers were cooked perfectly - not too chewy and served with hot butter. The bacon wrapped scallops were also delicious. Highly recommended! read more

The best EVER lobster rolls anywhere in this state. I just happened to see it off the side of route 1 and pulled in for an early lunch. Although their menu is varied, I came for the lobster roll and didn't really co sided other options. They were loaded and topped with claw meat.... so so good! I would highly recommend this stop and the view of the harbor is an added benefit. read more

Loved the shrimp roll and scallop roll. Quaint little stop on our way to Bar Harbor. Counter service or takeout, waterside dining.

Clam chowder was excellent. Calamari was good. Lobster was excellent but skip the sides as they had odd tastes and that goes for the loaded bake potatoe as well. Nice view of harbor from a couple of the outdoor seats read more

i am 70 years old, and my wife and i have had many many lobster rolls, but the one at Claws was the absolute best ever. It was tender and flavorful, with no filler at all, and just enough mayo to hold it together. We had to eat half of it before we could pick it up in the wonderful buttered roll. it was so good we went back to next day to make certain we were not dreaming. The sides were great also, the owners extremely friendly, and the place was spotless. read more

Speaking as a New Englander who grew up in Marblehead, Ma, I absolutely loved Claws. Best place around Owl's Head to grab some steamers, lobsters and a good beer/glass of wine. Casual with picnic table seating. Hope it's here for many years to come - it'll be our summer go to for sure. read more

Probably my favorite centrally located lobster pound of mid coast Maine trip this past summer. We went back twice to make sure friends could check it out too. All outdoor seating. Very funny witty kitsch design. Good lobster crab cake appetizers and sides. Mac and cheese choices are featured (with and without shellfish or vegetables. Fresh haddock was excellent. Good non-shellfish choices including fresh salads to which you can add proteins. Amazing and friendly service with a helpful involved owner. Clean. Good seating under a covered roof with picnic tables can get noisy. It's a hit nicer if you are just a party of two to walk down to the gravely path after the covered porch to sit at at a table with an umbrella -- but you both face the water. Don't forget to check out the hysterical artwork in the spotless restroom (which includes shout spot remover for those who dripped butter on their shirts!) and check out their very cool souvenir tee shirts available in boiled lobster red and other fashion shades (sizes little kids to xxxl!) read more

Our overall experience wasn't as good as some of the other reviews. First, the good: the place is clean and tidy. The bathroom is kitchy and cute. The views from the deck are great and it is a nice place to sit and relax. We wanted a light meal, so my husband and I ordered the Claws sampler with lobster bisque, seafood chowder, and a crab cake. We also ordered fried clams which came with fries, tartar sauce, and homemade slaw. The seafood chowder is absolutely fantastic. It is chock full of shrimp, scallops, clams, and I think lobster claw. The broth wasn't gummy or overly thick, just perfectly delicious in every way. We also liked the rough cut fries that came with the clams. The clams themselves, however, were just ok. They were cooked well...not too chewy, and certainly seemed fresh, but a bit greasy and heavy. As a Rhode Islander, I am a bit of a whole belly clam snob. The simpler, the better. These too much breading...and some sort of herb blend that totally took away from the flavor of the clams. The crab cake had the same problem. Way too much filler, not enough crab...and curry, which utterly overwhelmed the flavor of what little crab there was. The result was a heavy, dense, curry cake. The biggest miss, sadly, was the bisque. I LOVE lobster bisque... Ad could see that on a good day, this one could be great, but oh my gosh it was over salted. Totally inedible. I took it back to the counter and asked to swap it for more chowder, which they graciously did. I would say that if you go, ordering the twin lobsters, some chowder, and a couple of beers would be a safe bet. And allow plenty of time. Service is pretty slow. read more

We enjoyed this place the food was good the prices were also good. The staff was very friendly and they were very busy and crowded. There's not much parking in front of the restaurant. We had to park and walk but it was worth it. read more

Great little shack restaurant off the road in Rockland. Very clean, staff was very friendly. I got the Lobster roll $18, very good but small portion and had light mayo on it??? My friend got the haddock sandwich, said it was very good, nice portion $11. My other buddy got the fried haddock platter (FF) said it was ok. Overall good food, friendly service and clean. I'm sure we'll find other good places to eat on our trip, not sure if I'd make a special trip to come back. read more

My family and I could not have been more happy with Claws. It's a quaint little roadside lobster shack with great views of the water, and the food is amazing. Everything was awesome: the fried shrimp, the chowder, the lobster bisque, the crab cakes, the fries, the fried clam roll - all of it. It's a must stop if you're going through Rockland. read more

Although this got high ratings, I wasn't impressed with the service. I asked for no garlic or onions because of an allergy and my food came out with lots of onions anyway. After an already long wait, I had to wait for a replacement. The staff didn't seem too concerned and did not appear to communicate well. read more

The food we ordered was good enough, although it was a 35-40 minute wait for a cup of chowder and an item off the snack menu. It was only moderately busy so I have a feeling they forgot our order. In addition, it unfortunately wasn't very hot either. However, the staff was very friendly and the view was nice. read more

So glad we came! Best lobster roll! The shrimp and crab cakes were excellent as well. Looking forward to going back for the jumbo lobster!

This is good seafood! Tried the lobster roll and the lobster burger along with some fresh sides. The lobster roll was overflowing with lobster. Added lettuce, tomato and red onion to the lobster burger and it was delicious. It's actually a lobster patty that is lightly fried. The sweet corn and the potato salad were good as well, and I am not even a fan of potato salad. It's outdoor seating only with a nice little water view. read more

Always on the search throughout the Northeast for crispy fried Fish 'n Chips. CLAWS is not the best...ordered the Haddock Basket ($14) which includes 1 large piece of fried Haddock served over a basket of fries, plus a small side of cole slaw and tartar sauce. Fries are good (handcut and fresh) but fish was overcooked (a bit dry and too much grease). Also ordered the Fried Calimari Starter ($9), served with a side of red sauce. A long counter with 20+ types of sauces including serve yourself ketchup, yellow mustard and mayo is the saving grace for the somewhat bland sauces. They have increased their menu offerings 4-fold since they opened a few years ago, so plenty of options galore ($10 hamburger, salad, lobster roll) if you don't want fried fish. I would give CLAWS 2 stars for the fried fish, but sitting right next to the harbor and view of Rockland, Maine's working waterfront can't be beat and their staff are super friendly, so 4 stars it is. Probably best to stick to fresh lobster, except that I don't like the little crustaceans. read more

Third lobster roll during Maine vacation, and best all-around experience so far! A lobster shack with both humor and charm (my daughter kept in going back to the very clean bathroom to read all the lobster jokes on the walls) with exceptional service. Lobster roll was great, on a toasted buttery roll with lots of lobster dressed with mayo. Great prices, too - they have a two lobster special (no sides) for $16! Only downside is no indoor seating, but that's not even a downside when you are going to a roadside stand. They have alcohol, which is also nice when having dinner - beer and lobster are perfect on a lovely Maine summer evening. read more

Outstanding service and fresh seafood prepared expertly. Plus a great view of the harbor. A winning combination.

Neat shack like place on the side of the road with newer clean tables. I liked they had a kids menu that really thought about what kids eat. Hot dogs and Kraft mac and cheese that comes with juice box and apple sauce. A processed food dream for those kids in that stage. The wife had the fish sandwich which looked good and she seemed to like it. I had the lobster roll which was delicious, but extremely small for the price. We also got the twin lobsters for 15.95 which was a good price and they were fresh and tasty. Service was great, but it took a while to get the food, so plan accordingly. Note, no sides come with anything so if you want anything with your fish sandwich or lobster roll, you will need to order it unless sides are specifically included. Had the blueberry crisp at the end of the meal which was ok, not awesome. Bottom line, great people, decent food, a little pricey, not quick. read more

Surprised how only ok food was based on all the high ratings here. Crab cakes was mostly bread, bisque was broken and not very flavorful. Broiled haddock sandwich was fine and a large portion but not remarkable...maybe the fried version is better. Chowder was pretty good. Very rustic with strong seafood flavor. Tartar sauce seemed house made and was the standout of the meal. For a similar price Graffan was way better for a seafood shack experience. Maybe the whole lobster here is good but did not try this time. Seems like the rating is driven by folks who haven't had better. Drive a little farther up to Camden area and you'll do better for the same $$. read more

This place is fabulous. I ordered two lobster rolls and a side of potato salad. The lobster was perfectly seasoned on a lightly buttered roll. The portion was very generous. The potato salad was not your traditional potato salad, however it was creamy and delicious. The service was excellent. We will definitely add this gem to our dinner rotation when we visit the area next year. read more

Claws - Delicious lobster roll....yummy! - Seafood Near Me - Rockland, Maine

If you're in Rockland, this is THE Place to go. The Seafood Chowder is incredible and full of big chunks of fish, clams, etc. The crab cakes are meaty and fresh. The lobster mac N cheese is full of big chunks of lobster meat. There's always a long line and its worth the wait. read more

Father's Day and my beautiful daughter's took me to lunch at Claw's! What a treat! __Decided to go for the Claw's "Back Yard Burger", fresh ground Angus beef fire grilled as you wish, local lettuce, red onion, tomato, add your favorite condiments and by making by it a "Royale", add on the cheese of your choice. A very good juicy burger, even with the delicious seafoods at Claws available! __The daughters choice #1) Claws deep fried haddock sandwich (huge haddock filet, so large it, had to be eaten down to size, before picked up as a sandwich! Homemade tartar sauce! __The daughter choice #2) Claws classic biggun' lobster roll, so much fresh Maine lobster, it was hard to see the roll! Not messed with, "not dragged with the garden first" (no lettuce, no onion, no herbs, etc) just sweet lobster meat and perhaps a touch of mayo. These great foods were shared around a bit and enjoyed with cold beer and ice tea! Claws is a gem! read more

Meh! I've had better Mac & Cheese. My wife was disappointed with the portion to cost of the lazy lobster dinner. Very little for high cost. read more

Food and staff were great. We had seafood every day we visited maine, and this place was the best...

Great lobstet...great place. Love it, you should stop here to get lobster! Had Twin lobsters...And A 1 1/2 Lobster As well..Really great.

First day in Maine we stopped at claws and so very glad we did. Although a bit on the pricey side for a roadside food stand, our lobster rolls were stuffed to the max, coleslaw was really good, and we ordered artichoke and crab dip served with pita chips, and it was really good. We're on our 3rd day now and thus far, claws has been the best meal we've had in Rockland. read more

Oh my word!!! AMAZING!!! The view was fabulous and the food was great! The service was top notch and seeing that we had no idea how to crack a lobster, they gave us a one on one tutorial. Loved loved loved the lobster burger. Best thing with lobster I've ever eaten!!!! So rich and buttery and amazing

I am a seafood lover and would never go back. Terrible food! This close to the ocean and Haddock and scallops were frozen, overcooked, and tasteless. Had better seafood in MA and CT. Even the lobster in the roll seemed to be a few days old. So disappointing! read more
