I thought the restaurant design was beautiful, and while the space is narrow and deep, the décor is light and contemporary, which makes for a great atmosphere. We share similar tastes, so my friend and I each ate the same dishes. We started with a taste of cauliflower cream, with pea shoots and crushed nuts. The cream was smooth and the nuts added a crunchy texture. The local asparagus with sheep's cheese cream and herbs was fresh and earthy, the vegetable tender and not tough, while the cream was salty and seasoned with the right mix of herbs. We also tried eggs and potato riojana style, and the flavors really gave a sense of the famous region of Spain. During the main course, we enjoyed fresh fish from the local market, with fresh green peas, chanterelle and saffron, which added a beautiful dose of color. We also loved the dish of local sheep, pumpkin, egg and cheese, as the texture provided an outstanding mouthfeel and is the epitome of local comfort food. We dined here two out of the three nights we were in Barcelona because we had such a great dining experience. Here's what we had: -Ensaladilla Rusa & bonito tuna (4 euros): I'm not a potato salad fan, but this is a pretty classic tapa so we had to try it. It was just okay to me, but my husband loved it. -Burrata salad (8 euros): The burrata was a good size for sharing, while the asparagus and tomato added a nice contrast to the creaminess of the burrata. -Rice special (7 euros): Oh my gosh, whatever the rice special is, just order it! I ordered it both times, so I had two eye-rolling bowls of rice goodness. The restaurant is a short walk from the L'illy mall. So, if your hotel is in that area, you can enjoy a nice evening walk to and from dinner. They have tapas, salads, sandwiches, and entries. Most of their options are seafood. Although, they do have vegetarian options, roasted chicken, and a burger on the menu as alternatives. Their wine list is also good, not extensive but a good enough variety. On our two dining experiences, we ordered .... (1) the croquettes which were the best of all the restaurants we experienced during our 8 day stay (2) the calamari which was excellent. It is lightly battered and very tender, not overcooked and rubbery like most places. The serving size is big enough for 3 people to share as an appetizer. We ordered calamari nights and it was excellent both nights. (3) roasted prawns in a tomato, olive, garlic sauce which was very good. The dish is services in a hot sizzling skillet right out of the oven. It is roasted with butter. (I don't think the menu mentions that.) The sauce was so good we ordered bread to scoop it all up. (4) green salad which is much more than a green salad. It was chuck full of goodies and a large half avocado on top, much different than what we Americans consider a small green salad. It more closely resembled a salad nicoise. If you aren't that hungry, this could be a meal. (See photo included with this review.) (5) grilled salmon, cooked to perfection, not over cooked or under cooked. And just a little salt. It was slightly crispy on the outside. It comes served with a couple asparagus spears and spinach. The portion size of the veggies is small. If you like generous portions of vegetables, I recommend ordering extra. The servers remembered us from the previous night and gave us a little more attention. We felt very welcomed here. I think it may be a family run restaurant. It has that feel. They don't speak English, but don't let that dissuade you. They are very open to pointing and gesturing and working with you to get the order right. They have a good sense of humor as well. One minor point is that the pictures of the interior on Yelp are old. They must have remodeled. There are booths along the windows in the main restaurant, and there is a separate back patio that is entirely enclosed with windows and a door. We sat in the enclosed patio our second night. It is very cozy. It was cold and rainy outside and you wouldn't even know it.
