The class times are convenient, as I prefer 5:30 am but there are tons in the evening! I've found a sense of community in going to same classes each week, although always feel welcome regardless of my regularity at a class! I should mention I had reservations in belonging to a gym without a weight room and treadmills. Good riddance and I've never looked back. For a 20 year old it seemed like a great fit, UNTIL she sent us pictures and told us all about this gym. I was astounded at what she had to say, so I signed up for a membership in Shawnee. No contract, no commitment, and $25 a month for their best membership so I had nothing to lose (but $25)! Today I had a Hydro-massage, got a tan, walked on a treadmill, and lifted some weights on the machines. It was a DELIGHT! I am astounded. This place has SO many machines, and different areas to work out. There were no douchebags, no "extras" I won't use. It was just chill. Wearing a heart monitor is optional but it helps you see how many splat points you're burning! 12 or more in the Orange/red zone will leave you with an after burn. I love Life Time Fitness and I always have…read more Life Time Fitness isn't the closest facility I have where I live but it's worth the drive. Other times I do have a membership at competitors facilities for days I don't want to drive. I couldn't tell you ONE time I have walked into Life Time and not been greeted and asked how I'm doing. I've gone at 1AM multiple times after a long work shift and had great conversations and great greetings. The staff is so passionate whether it be checking people in, signing up memberships, cleaning the locker rooms and even cleaning / re-racking the gym. This specific location is always so clean, you don't see dust anywhere. I've even been curious when I get higher doing chin-ups to look over the Yoga Sign and on top of TVs and even there, spotless! Amazing. Huge basketball courts, kids facility, and rock climbing. Nonetheless I appreciate being a member here more than just the facility but always feel like I'm welcome. Kinda like a nice neighbourhood I move into, except it's consistent, clear, and clean. I may not go as often now that it's busier as I work retail and get tired after work, but I won't even cancel my membership because I know after any long day if I really need to relax or let a weight off my should I'll visit. Maybe 2020 is my physique year, 2019 wasn't. 10/10 recommend to anyone in the area looking into joining.

For example, youth swim lessons and water aerobics take up the entire pool area on Saturdays, making it impossible if you would like to swim laps. "Alpha" fitness classes have two areas that take up a significant portion of the upstairs gym, and they run classes constantly. On top of all this, the equipment that is left for members to use (i.e. benches and machines) are old and falling apart. I personally had a pin slip from an adjustable bench when I had it set to incline for bench press. I fell back with it and chipped my tooth. For the money you pay and for the money they add for extra classes and "events", they should really have better stuff for the general membership. It presents as though little regard is given to the overall members.

The reason for 4 stars out of 5 is that the parking lot can get very crowded and they only have one set of water fountains. During peak hours you will likely have to weave around cars that park in non-designated parking spots and you will have to park over near the old Joanns fabric store building. They do have an overflow lot just west of the building and recognize that it's a problem but that area fills up too. I still feel for what you are paying for that it's not inconvenient enough to look elsewhere. Equipment is never broken. It is clean, new and gets the job done.

I purchased the $49 seven-day consecutive-day pass, but after my first class I honestly didn't feel motivated to return. I also called another location hoping to use the remaining days there, but was told the seven days have to be used consecutively starting immediately after purchase. That's a pretty restrictive policy for people with busy schedules. Cute facility, but unfortunately the classes and trial policy weren't worth it for me
