Celtic Axe Throwing - Austin is a separate business but housed in the Brewtorium. Yes, throw axes!!! It appears to be thing. While I waited, I thought you have never thrown axes on a board. Let's do this darn thang! Have I thrown darts? Yes! Have I shot arrows at a bulls eye? Yep! Have I gone skeet shooting? You betcha! Why not throw axes to add it to my games with a little danger? What is the worst that could happen? Loose a finger or toe...perhaps get knocked in the head from a poor throw? Well none of these thoughts scared me. I did have to sign a waiver disclaimer. This is what should have sent me sprinting out of the building. You always have to face your fear. I did it with no lost body parts...not even a scratch. It was a ton of fun. We had also brought our own TV and bottles to smash (which was ok). As we were walking in the door, my friend gets a text asking to push our reservation as we see people still in the rage room. They tell us to come back in 15-20 minutes so we decide we'll go to the bar that's walking distance. We grab and drink and come back, there's people suiting up, the people who had a reservation AFTER us. They did not call or text us letting us know to come since it was our turn to go. They tell us to wait so we did in our cars. After 15 minutes we go inside. A man named Sloan, apologized on his coworkers behalf and gave us some extra bottle to smash. They allocate 20 minutes per party on the website so the turn around is fast. If a party takes too long it throws off the whole schedule. Sloan was very nice and we had a great time once it was our time to go. We got to play our own music and since we brought extra things to smash we used up the whole 20 minutes.

(We played "break stuff" - Limp Bizkit on our phone) Time went by a little faster than we thought since it was 30min when you book but we had a 15min timer. This place doesn't skimp out! They give you 25 min but we were going through everything pretty quickly! They also had some file cabinets and old PC's for you to continue to smash through. The staff was very friendly, they automatically give you a speaker to connect your music to. Definitely recommend checking them out. Note: it does get warm in the room so dress appropriately since you will be given a jumpsuit. Also make sure you're wearing closed toe shoes. You'll have protective ear, head and face gear which will be needed since glass is jumping everywhere!

We were about 25 minutes early which seemed to throw the young man assisting us completely off his stride. We went to the bar area to order cocktails and wait. We actually weren't able to start until a bit after 2:30. A couple of groups came in after us and I assume the young man wanted to go over instructions all at once. He used a sprayer to water down all of the boards before we could start and began our paid time before he relayed instructions. The floor underneath the board was wet and full of wood pieces. I did not enjoy having to wipe my axe handle each time I missed and it landed on the wet floor. During our throwing time we were interrupted at least 3 more times so that the board could be resprayed with water. While I understand that wetting the board tends to make the axes "stick" better I feel like there has to be a less intrusive solution. All in all it was a fun little treat for Father's Day
