I had a decent experience here at this clinic. The front desk staff were alright and so was Dr. Mathews. The office was modern and spacious, but very hot temperature-wise. This was just for a routine checkup, so I can't speak to the glasses section. I would come back, but felt that nobody was very friendly compared to other locations... except for one of the front desk girls. read more

I gave Clarkson the chance to do the right thing after it billed me one amount when I bought glasses and a different amount after I left the store. Heard from a person who said my issue would be elevated up but never heard anything more - just got the bill again. Know it is fraud because the same glasses cost 3 different amounts depending on the purpose of the bill. Can you imagine paying 3 different prices for a coke depending on who was being billed? I will never use Clarkson again. Saw that most of its locations have an F BBB rating - no wonder when they rip people off. I do not recommend Clarkson to anyone. read more

This issue has still not been resolved. In fact, I was told by the office manager that I should have contacted them a year and a half ago. I'm guessing they never read my emails or even acknowledged speaking to me about this issue. Well, how about that. That's what I've been doing despite having to tell my story over and over again since the time I originally got these glasses and paid extra for a warranty. On a happy note, the frame was replaced (after I had to pay back an additional $40) but not the incorrect prescription. So, I still can't wear my glasses because I don't want to harm my vision. read more

I recently had cataract surgery. As a result I no longer needed bifocals just readers. After having bifocals for year it got to be tedious having to put glasses on just to read and then taking them off for distance. I had readers everywhere, in the kitchen, in my bedroom to read at night and by the computer. So I decided to go to Clarkson for bifocals, clear for distance, magnified for close-up work. No more having to have a pair of readers in every room. When I finally got glasses from Clarkson the line was in the wrong place. So back to the lab. Second time it was still wrong. They told me to wear them for a few days. Nope, still wrong so back again. I paid for my glasses upfront and so far I still don't have a pair of glasses. I wrote to corporate and so far have gotten no response. My advice if you're thinking of getting glasses at Clarkson is GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. These people are incompetent. read more

This place sucks! The glasses I purchased fell apart, over and over again. They gave me a new pair for free, but the same thing happened. It was obviously a defect in the brand, but they wouldn't let me change brands and said it was all they could do! Totally unacceptable. read more

I've been seeing Dr Jill Williamson for two years now at Clarkson Eyecare in Rock Hill--I'm a huge fan of this place! My expectations were somewhat low since they advertise a TON at Cardinals games--but I figured it couldn't be much worse than the Dr. I was previously seeing in the Chicagoland area, and they accept my insurance, so I made an appt. First of all, the people staffing the front desk are very nice, friendly people who don't appear to mind answering insurance questions, etc. I'm used to grumpy people who are overwhelmed with work, so it was pretty refreshing. I was also in and out of this office in under an hour, which I always appreciate, without feeling like I was being rushed out of the place. Dr. Williamson is warm and friendly, and willing to answer my questions. She even recommended a different type of contact lenses that she thought were better, and cheaper than what I was currently wearing. I'm a fan of anyone who allows me to save some $$ on health-related items! Basically, I never dread going into this office like I do for some other Dr. appointments, and I highly recommend this place! read more

This was the most awesome visit I have ever experienced-the people upfront to the doctor who was the sweetest, kindest and most informative to me. He explained everything I needed to know to protect my eyes in the future and what errors have been made in the past. Stopped in to get a prescription filled. Looked at frames while I waited in the empty store. Could hear someone talking and laughing in the back. After about 10 minutes, the clerk came out & went behind the counter at the opposite end of the store from me. She asked if I needed anything. I said I needed to get new glasses & asked about titanium frames. She said they didn't have many & told me I should go to one of the other stores - no offer to show me anything. She wasn't unfriendly, but she really didn't want to be bothered. read more

Could not love this place more! I have been to several eye doctors and this one is BY FAR, the best. Everyone from the staff to the doctors, they are all really knowledgable and so kind. The nurses go above and beyond. Keri is amazing - she's one of the nurses up front and if you ever need anything she will help no matter what. The doctors are all friendly, showing pictures of their families and their kids - it's honestly not what you expect when you think of a "chain" eye doctor. I'd highly recommend coming here! I always had issues with contacts - I could never find the right pair even after 10 years - and my first trip to Clarkson, I realized I came in on the wrong date for my appt and told the nurse I was bummed because I was hoping to get contacts that didn't dry my eyes. The nurse said she felt bad I drove in just for an appt even though I was the one who messed up and got the date wrong. She asked me a couple questions and asked one of the doctors advice and they gave me a sample to try for the day until I could come back. It's little things like that which make them so friendly. AND - the contacts rocked! They are the only brand/type that don't kill my eyes! And it came from the nurse's recommendation - not all of these doctors I had been seeing for years. Like I mentioned, EVERYONE at this location is super knowledgeable and friendly. read more

I have been a patient at the Rock Hill location for 11 years. My last experience was dysfunctional enough to make me not return. I scheduled an appointment in early April but had to cancel. I called in mid May and was told I did not have insurance coverage until April 2019. I knew this was not possible because it had been almost 2 years since my last visit. When the staff checked their records they saw that I had cancelled but they assured me they had not submitted anything to my insurance company and that I needed to contact my insurance. Well Clarkson had submitted paperwork to my insurance company and I had to spend almost 30 minutes on the phone to get it reversed. I should have followed my first instinct and not schedule an appointment, but I did. When I arrived Brittany had me complete paperwork. She asked me if I had on my contacts and I replied no. I complete my eye exam and while walking out I realized that I was not fitted for contacts. Brittany nor Dr. Mathews inquired if I wanted to be fitted for contacts in addition to glasses. That had been my exam for the prior 2 visits, glasses and contacts. Then Brittany asked me did I want to use my insurance and I replied yes. So please excuse my ignorance, but over the years the staff have always presented my options and gave me prices for both using my insurance and taking advantage of any specials. No, not Ms. Brittany. She made 2 assumptions that made my visit less than expected. I did not wear my contacts so I did not want to be fitted for contacts. I replied I wanted to use my insurance so I did not want any specials. Today was the first time in 20 years that i have left the optometrist office with only ONE SOURCE OF EYEWEAR. My history shows that i either purchase 2 paid of glasses or 1 pair of glasses with contacts. The customer service at the Rock Hill location has declined in my opinion. I will not be returning in the future. My oldest daughter left a couple of years ago due to the lack of customer service. I will be moving my youngest daughter and myself. read more
