50 Dollar Eye Guy - Buying me a new prescription glasses for me?where..

(Review copied from my facebook review- )…read more I'm currently looking at my computer with the best vision I've ever had. For the last ten years or so, every time I shopped for a new pair of glasses (usually about once a year since my prescription is still changing), it takes a company at least three weeks to get my lenses in. Even then I have to pray that they're right the first time (more often than not, they're way off). I didn't expect anything different when I walked in (Mark, the pink is kinda sketchy, just sayin...) but BOY WAS I WRONG!!!! Three days. They had my glasses in in THREE DAYS. I think I was in fourth grade (I'm out of college now) the last time I had glasses in under a week. Not only were they in (and my 'script correct) but he even took the time to tint the edges to blend in more with the frame, after they were supposed to be closed for the evening! The digital lenses they offer are AWESOME!!!! I'm still working on getting used to them, but the fact that my lenses are about half as thin as my previous pair of "micro-thin" lenses already makes them more manageable. My vision is SUPER CLEAR. I'll probably write a second review once they get my sunglasses in. The lenses came in at the same time as my others, but Mark told me that he didn't like how they turned out. I convinced him to let me try them on just to see, and he was right. They weren't quite right. But the fact that he wasn't even going to show me until they met HIS approval says volumes about the service he provides. He's not going to let anyone leave his store unless they're fully satisfied that their vision is right, or that he's going to do something to make it right. Thank you Mark, and the other staff that helped me. Your turnaround time is beyond amazing, the product (the digital lenses) are better than anything I've had, and I've had glasses my entire life. And you didn't let me walk out the door with glasses that didn't work. Five stars aren't enough. Two thumbs up aren't enough. I hope you guys aren't allergic to chocolate because when you call me to tell me my sunglasses are in you may have an influx of cookies.

Disappointed and Misled -- Never Again…read more I recently visited Eye and Coffee Guy (formerly "$50 Eye Guy") for an eye exam because my insurance covers the exam with just a $10 copay. To my surprise, I was charged an outrageous $143 for the exam, with insurance. My insurance also includes a $250 allowance toward any frames, but I was told by the sales associate that this didn't apply to frames in the glass case (such as Oakley, Tom Ford, Coach, etc.). That is completely false. I ended up using my own frames and was charged $568 for just the lenses. After insurance, I still had to pay $170 out of pocket -- just for lenses with anti-glare. I needed the glasses urgently, so I paid it, but I absolutely regret it. On August 1st, I placed my order and gave them my $500 Tom Ford frames to have the lenses fitted. Instead of handling them carefully, they broke my frames during the process. Not only did they fail to apologize, but I was told over the phone that I would need to purchase another set of frames because they were not liable for frame damage per the paperwork I signed. When I asked about a credit or refund since they broke my frames, they refused. I then asked for a refund on the lenses so I could take my business elsewhere, but they told me the lenses were already cut and nonrefundable. To make matters worse, if I bought new frames, the lenses would need to be remade anyway. At that point, I ordered new frames from another store, choosing not to give Eye and Coffee Guy another dime. Twenty-five days later, my glasses finally arrived -- far too long for something so basic. Horrible and slow service from start to finish. For comparison, I later went to another local optometrist who immediately told me that my $250 insurance frame allowance was still valid since I hadn't used it. I was able to use it toward a pair of Dolce & Gabbana frames with no problem. The competitor quoted me $125 out of pocket for lenses with anti-glare, anti-scratch, and UV protection -- all made in-house and ready the same day. Meanwhile, Eye and Coffee Guy quoted $399 for the same lens features and still had to send them off. Even with insurance, I paid more here than I would have paid in full elsewhere without insurance. I feel completely misled, taken advantage of, and frankly, ripped off. The lack of transparency, the misinformation, the refusal to take accountability, and the careless handling of my expensive frames is unacceptable. I will never return for optical services again. To top it off, I've been a loyal coffee customer here 4 times a week. But after this experience, I will no longer be giving this business a single dollar for coffee or anything else. The only thing close to $50 here is the coffee and muffins. Do better.

I got a coupon book in the mail: Opti Club, 2 pair of glasses and exam for $138. I knew it would…read morebe more expensive than that, but I decided to try them anyway. The exam was okay although I've had more thorough exams at other places. I asked the associate to explain the $138 deal to me, but she just went on about asking me if I wanted photo gray or brown lenses, etc. my two pair of glasses cost $600+ They said they'd be ready in a week, okay I got the call 9 days later, no problem. I go to the office in Pace where I got my exam and ordered my glasses. They can't find them and after about 15 minutes, tell me one pair is at the store in Pensacola. The traffic was horrible, so I decided to go the next day. When I get home I call the store in Pensacola to make sure they are there. They are. I get a phone call from the store in Pace, not more than 30 minutes after I left there, saying my glasses are there! So I'm thinking maybe one pair at one location, one pair at the other? Saturday morning I go to the Pace office, 10:15, shop is not open. Hours clearly displayed on the door "Saturday 10-3" So I head to the Pensacola office. Both pair of glasses are there. I try one, they seem pretty good. The second pair had to be redone, the bifocals were not right. Driving home with the pair I thought was okay I find they are not correct either. There's a small area I can see clearly if I look straight ahead, but if I look sideways they blur my vision. What a fiasco. I'll be glad to go back to the optical office at the Naval Hospital when all this virus stuff is gone, or even Walmart is more organized and professional than these folks.
