I hated everything about the experience. The doctor was rude and the technician would not leave me alone while I tried on glasses. I asked more than once for her to let me browse and she still asked over and over and over again if I was ok. I haven't been back since and they will not stop calling me to set up another appointment. I can't block the number because it's a different number every time. They've been calling for five months! First they had me wait in an odd storage room for my dilated test. Once I ordered glasses I waited 3 weeks past my promised date. Finally I told them I was coming the next day for either my glasses or a refund...my glasses magically appeared that day. Avoid. read more

I needed a new prescription and hadn't had my eyes checked in awhile so I came here. My employee insurance is VSP and it is accepted here. There is actually a Clarkson Eyecare closer to me in Centerville but they seem to book up quickly. Dr. Simmons did my eye exam and it was thorough. I think the exam took about a hour and selecting some frames maybe another 35-45 minutes. The office is a little small with not too many places to wait. When I was choosing my frames, there were other people coming in and they couldn't help because only one lady was available for fittings. I think they could benefit by having additional staff. I saw two ladies working there when I went in along with the eye doctor so three people total. I don't know if that's the norm or just the particular days that I went in. Frame selection is pretty decent. Not as extensive as some places but decent. The worse part about this Clarkson Eyecare seems to be the location. It's a strip mall area, which in itself isn't bad. However, parking seems to be sparse if you want to park anywhere near the eyecare facility. Clarkson also doesn't offer weekend appointments or fittings, which is a negative for working professionals with limited availability. My eyeglasses took about ten days to get which I thought was good. They even texted me when the glasses were ready. I would recommend but I probably would look for other options considering the parking situation. The lady that helped me select my frames and did the fitting was very friendly. The other lady that's usually behind the counter when you arrive, not so much. The doctor was thorough but seemed iffy when you asked about getting a copy of your prescription. I think many of these places make the bulk of their money selling eyeglasses and try to dissuade people from getting eyeglasses online. read more

Had an amazing experience here. Dr. Simmons was very thorough and actually explained what he was doing as he did it. He took his time to make sure I had the correct prescription, overall best eye exam I have ever had. The frames I selected are nice, yet the lenses are unequivocally & substantially inferior to what I have always had in the past, both with daily wear and computer wear. I was aware of the limitations of my insurance coverage, and we worked out a pair that were submitted and a pair I purchased; however, I was misled to believe the "Clarkson" lens would be comparable in quality. It is not even minimally close in comparison. While Dr. Simmons is talented in determining an accurate prescription strength, he is a rude and unfriendly medical professional. And is a coupon for brand name eye drop for which he likely receives a kickback from, more important to him than writing a prescription for the exact same generic single-use version that my insurance will cover? He appeared quite miffed when I asked for a prescription for an OTC eye reliever. Again, he was extremely ill-mannered and impudent when it came to my simple request as a customer. Dr. Simmons also made sure to point out how much extra time he spent on me...wait a minute. I have terrible vision in one eye...is it my fault that he worked with me to help me to best see? I was having issues with my right eye, which is my good eye due to issues many years ago in my left eye. First time going to the Kettering office of Clarkson Eye Care and it couldn't have been any better. Initially set up for a 10 minute eye health appointment, but Dr Simmons said I needed to get a full evaluation due to symptoms. I thought I was going to have to come back but he fit me in between other patients. He was awesome and explained everything that was going on and relieved my stress. The front desk person was great when I arrived. Jess, who got me the appointment the night before helped me look for new glasses. She was extremely personable and picked out an awesome frame that my insurance covered all of except $15! I will ask for an appointment with Jess when my glasses come in because she was so kind and helpful. I also already received a text setting up my next appointment in 2023! I used to got to the Bellbrook office but they've been without a doctor for awhile now. A little farther to travel but I think I'll go to the Kettering office from now on. Thanks so much. read more
