Let me start off with, I am terrified of the eye doctor. It's so much worse than the dentist or any other specialists so I always walk in already kind of high strung. The staff knows of my phobia and they do everything they can to make the visit as pleasant as possible. Scheduling with Dr Gerhard is simple and she is just perfect. She goes well above and out of her way to make me comfortable and ease the tensions. The staff is a delight also. Tory has helped be pick out the perfect frames year after year. My insurance is kind of limiting as to selection, so she searches for frames that will fit my face and orders them in for me to try on. Basically I just tell her to make me look nice and she never disappoints! 4 years in a row I have nothing bad to say whatsoever and will never consider going elsewhere! Way to go! read more

This is based off of 2 separate appointments 4 years apart so it appears this isn't a one off. My daughter went in and saw Dr. Gerhard. They asked if we wanted to do some kind of imaging test, which was an additional amount, which was marketed to us as a more in depth way of viewing the eyes instead of dilation. We opted for that but after the test, they said she needed to dilate her eyes. Felt mislead. Went to a different location and didn't have any issues but went back this past June and not happy. My daughter's vision changed .by .75, to which they charged us an additional $139 because of something that her vision wasn't a normal situation. Dr. Gerhard never mentioned anything during the exam but we found out when paying. The two employees couldn't give a good reason as to why and I said I wasn't going to pay. We were already paying for the glasses and contact lens exams. Not understanding why the strenght in vison changing is a reason to charge an extra fee and why nothing was told to us until checking out. Dr. Gerhard went to lunch so never got explanation, just a bill in the mail. Don't recommend at all. read more

Scheduled an appointment 3 months ago. Called to confirm my appointment for tomorrow morning, it's been cancelled because the doc decided to take an extended vacation. No one let me know because they took my number down incorrectly, even though it's correct on my son's account. Next available appointment? Another 3 months out. No thanks, I'll find someone else who has at least a modicum of respect for my time. read more

Made an appointment 2 months ago. They have called to reschedule 3 times, this last time 20 minutes before arrival time. The next date they had available, I was busy, and they said we can just put you on a cancelation list. Evidently, they have issues with the doctor showing up. Told them I would just find another doctor. Very disappointed. read more

I went in for my annual eye exam. Front desk staff and technicians were very friendly and welcoming. However, upon being seen by the optometrist, he was very frustrated with my answers to his questions and kept muttering oh god to himself. When he had both eyes uncovered, it was so blurry it was giving me a headache. He double checked it and the same result. He told me it was the dilation and sent me in my way with an extremely strong prescription. In addition, he told me I had a "muscle degeneration" in my right eye but did not explain this in detail leaving me worried. I left that appointment unable to see and uncomfortable with my interaction. I called the front desk and asked for them to change my contact order to my original prescription from my previous doctor. I have yet to receive this contact order to date. Go in for a replacement for my left eye and find out they then put in a too low prescription based on a scribbled note from their technician. When I tell them this is my old prescription, they tell me they can't take my word and need the records they already have. Had to then call my eye doctor and get the records sent to me so I can then show it to them. So here's to hoping I actually get my contact prescription right this time. I have a 2 because I don't fault the technicians or the front desk staff who tried to do their best. However, there optometrist needs to work on his professional and personal skills. All this could have been avoided had he not grown frustrated and put me in contacts that worsened my vision. Unfortunately I will have to take my services else where we never in a decade have I received this lack of professionalism. read more

Well, I'd like to say these guys made things better and that their customer service became a thing of joy and wonder. I'd like to say that, really I would, but to date I can't. After a couple days of me going the extra mile to track them down and a game of phone tag, I finally spoke to someone who seemed not only apologetic but sincerely interested in making things right. He offered a partial refund for my many troubles, I accepted (after all, I was going to settle for a hefty discount off my NEXT purchase assuming I came back). Anyway, long story short, I'm still waiting for said refund. Funny, they hang up a sign asking for payment at the time of service but when it's time for them to shell out they take their sweet time. Considering the time it took to get this almost to the finish line I'd expected a much more timely resolution just to get it over with. My guess is the promise of speaking to the staff about avoiding this sort of SNAFU in the future has been carried out in much the same timely matter. Seriously guys, with all the choices for eye care and wear, I'd have thought Clarkson Eyecare would be a little more conscientious about not only avoiding oopsies but be Johnny on the spot about fixing them when they happen. Can't say enough good things about this clinic my daughter lost a contact while visiting in the area. Our eye doctor at home send in her prescription and presto replacement contacts. Can't say enough good things about the staff that went out of their way to help us out. If we lived here this is where we'd go! read more

I took my 6 year old son to get his eye exam and had a good experience. Dr. Obenchain is very knowledgeable and took his time to make sure if my son needed glasses or not. The staff was very respectful and helpful. We had a great experience. read more

I have had both good and bad experiences with getting new glasses so I was a little apprehensive about trying a new one. I was pleasantly surprised. Dr Gerhard was great and Dawn knows exactly what frames would look the best on me even when I didn't have a clue. I definitely will be a repeat customer. read more

Dr Obenchain was great with my kids. He was clearly passionate about his career and genuinely cared for their well-being. He made them feel comfortable and included in the process which makes more of a difference than he probably realizes. Terrible service! I purchased a pair of glasses from this Store!! The frames came back with a crack in the frame. I ask to have them replaced and they tried to charge me!!only until I pitched a bitch they replaced them. Now the freaking frames are delaminating! Called them back to get a replacement, Even with all the trouble I had with these frames and the protection plan that I purchased they still want to charge me to replace these crappy frames. read more

Worst establishment ever. If I could give this negative stars I would. I had an exam here and everything was great. I learned I had dry eyes but when my glasses came in about 2 weeks later I could not see anything out of them. I called and they suggested I bring my glasses in and they will do another exam. I had an exam done again and they sent my glasses off to be fixed with my new prescription. The glasses came in about a week later and I still could not see so I let them know. The staff seemed aggravated, but honestly so was I because I was tired of driving to Gulf Breeze every other week just for them to be wrong. Finally I was so frustrated with everything that I just told them to put my old prescription from my glasses that I received a couple of years ago so they did. The glasses came in for the 3rd time and I STILL COULDN'T SEE. Talk about frustrating when you could see great out of the pair of glasses you originally brought in but couldn't see out of the "same prescription"? I was just going to deal with it but then when I thought about how I paid over $300 for what I would call a total waste of money when you can't see out of multiple prescriptions that they are providing you with I decided to give them another call and let them know. They were rude once again and said "well I'm not sure what else we can do" not sure what else you can do???? I'm paying you to do and eye exam and for glasses and when I can't see and complained multiple times they still acted like I was crazy. I contacted my cousin who is an optometrist in south Florida and told him what happened and he advised me to go see another Dr. that he had went to high school with. So I did that and when I went in for the first exam she said she had done everything she could and I still wasn't seeing 20/20 so she said my dry eyes could be affecting my vision. She suggested a certain eye drop to use for a week and that I needed to come back a week later. I took her advice and did that. When I came back she said she finally got me to see 20/20 and provided me with a prescription. When the lady at the nine mile office asked to see my glasses that I had purchased in March she said that their measurements were way off and that could have been affecting my vision also since the measurement was for where my pupils sit for the lenses. Since all of this took about 2 months and my insurance was only valid until 3/31/19 I had to send my glasses to my cousin to put my lenses in for free since my insurance would probably make me pay a portion. Take my advice and go to the Nine Mile location. read more
