This place is a joke! I spoke to Tom on the phone, he said he had a Mercury Mariner in great shape with a newer transmission for $2000. Drove all the way down from Concord, car was actually a Mercury Monterey minivan, and was a piece of junk! How can a car place not know what was on the lot!? They are pleasant so that's nice but what they charge is beyond unreasonable. I can't say I wasn't warned and *disclaimer*: I didn't actually get the service I was quoted because the cost was so ridiculous. I was quoted over $600 to change two fuel filters on my truck. I have had this same service done by a dealership for $310. To be fair, a different local dealership quoted me $406. But that's over $200 more than a high price dealership, over $300 more than the dealership that charged me $310. The first time I had the filters replaced, a busy local shop asked me to pick up the filters myself and charged me $20 in labor. Oh, and the OEM filters cost about $100 total when purchased retail. So in total I paid $120 for what Clark's wants over $600 for. Given that that filters costs about $100 total, Clarks is asking for over $500 to do what this other shop did for $20. I don't know what the hourly rate is at Clark's but I was quoted 3.5 hours. I'm not a car guy but I decided to do the work myself. I bought a $9 socket, paid $98 to get the filters the next day from Amazon and it took less than an hour to replace both filters. Normally I wouldn't write such a bad review but this seems downright dishonest so I felt the need. read more

I used to go here, then I realized I hate having to spend extra money on things I "need" that aren't necessary (ie: they put new $60 wipers and didn't even ASK me if I wanted them but required me to pay for them, and when I said I didn't want to so please put my old ones back on, they said they were already "trashed" and couldn't do that and wouldn't allow me to leave without wipers....) I wouldn't recommend this place and the only reason it has two stars is because some of the mechanics are very nice guys who unfortunately work there. I have used Clark's for the last 5 years for annual inspections and oil changes. They honor appointments and usually have me on my way within half an hour. I use the coupons in the weekly 'hudson-Litchfield news". inspection 20 bucks,oil change 25. They have done minor mechanical work and I believe they do good work. As with most service stations, I would get a second opinion on a major mechanical job as they will charge standard"book time" if you don't haggle. read more

I will never go here for car service again. My mother in law and her partner Cindy and Lynn do lots of business with these people. And assured me yes go here for your service. Not the first time I've had stuff checked out at Clarks. I called and asked if they would throw some rear rotors and brake pads on I had purchased they said yes we will it will be 195. I was fine with that and asked for an oil change. Half way through the day I get a call the brake pads you were given were for the front we will return these to orielly auto parts since they do so much business with them and it was from the same one I purchased the parts from I was like sure Great thanks. So after my car gets finished I get a call car is done available for pick up we had to charge you more because we left the car on the lift while having to run and get your parts. I'm like you are charging me for the time you weren't working on it? And she goes we had to, cars were backed up I'm like wtf how can you charge me while not working on my car that's illegal and not good service to the local residence either I also had a couple coupons my wife called and asked can multiple coupons be used she goes yes. I get 5% off service a whopping 9 dollars and some change and I had I 5 dollar off coupon for the oil change she never put on she took my coupons and said have a nice day. Well I guarantee I will not return to clarks thanks for charging for time you weren't working on my car since your shop is so busy nuff said!!!!!! read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would! Stay away!! A while ago I was ripped off by about $500 when I took my car in for an $80 fix. When the job was finished, and I was handed the bill, I immediately said there must have been a mistake. Nope...they told me they had done extra work (which I had never authorized nor had I even been informed about until the bill was handed to me.). When I told them I wasn't paying for the extra work, their response was that they "replace everything around the necessary part, not just one part", and then added "if you don't pay, you don't get your keys. You decide. Do you want your car or not?". I believe it was a wife and husband, but in any case both the male and female refused to give me my car. When I mentioned that what they had done was illegal, the only comment was to ask me if I want my keys or not, and that if I wanted the car, I had to pay what was on the bill. I then went to 2 other car places for advice...one in Hudson, and one in Nashua. One had inspected the car a day or 2 earlier and knew it was in good condition and only needed one part. Both places told me it was unnecessary work, and that the total cost would have been just around $80 if they had done ONLY what was needed and what I had asked for. So, I reported them to the LPD. The Officer literally groaned when I told them it was at Clark's, and said they would NEVER recommend Clark's Auto in Hudson as they are well known for doing this, and that they've heard similar story many times. Great advice, just a little late in my case. Since then, I ,too, have heard multiple similar stories. Stay away from Clark's! read more

If you're looking for a good price for service, this is a good place to go. I don't know much about cars, but so far the work done seems to be good as well. However, I have a number of concerns that left me with a poorer impression than I was expecting after excellent reviews. Upon arrival to drop off my car, I was greeted harshly. There was no paperwork when I left my key, only a quick verbal confirmation of why I was there and my contact number before I was shooed out the door. After several hours with no word, I tried calling several times before someone answering, and my car hadn't even been looked at yet. I was not called when my car was ready for pick up. This place is NOT ALLERGY FRIENDLY! The lobby absolutely reeks of cigarettes and there was a cat laying on the front desk. The only paperwork I signed was my credit card receipt, which did not leave me feeling confident. Finally, when picking up my car, there was a distinct smell of cigarette smoke that I can only assume was from the employees and the garage and not because anyone smoked in my car. There were also several dirt smudges left in my car (which I keep pretty clean), so I was not pleased. Overall, if you can tolerate all of these things, the work and price seem okay. read more

They are terrific with their prices (much cheaper than the dealers) and do their best to get you in, serviced and on your way on the same day. If it isn't possible to do your car the day you call, they make an appointment for you and keep it. If you need a loaner while your car is being fixed, they have them. One of reasons we keep going back is because of an experience several years ago. Before we set out to drive half the country we went to them for an oil change and to make sure our vehicle was good for the trip. They changed the oil, checked out the car and gave us the thumbs up and off we went. Two days later we broke down in PA due to an oversight on their part (a cap wasn't put back on correctly causing fluids to leak out and seize the car). I called up Tommy from PA, very mad, and told him what had happened. He apologized profusely and said "Send me the bill and not just the repair bill but the towing bill too." He was true to his word about paying those bills. I've never experienced anything like that. It sold me on their integrity, honesty and made me a life long customer.
