Clark's Auto Care was my port in the storm when I needed to get my '03 Honda Accord fixed. Originally I had gone to Moses Honda since they were close to where I lived, though after a horrible (and expensive) experience there, I opted to give Clark's a try.
The gentleman I spoke with on the on the phone (I believe his name was Chris) was very informative and friendly, and when I described the issues the car was experiencing and what Moses Honda had informed me of (VTEC issues with ports needing cleaning), he consulted his mechanics and the computer and called me back quickly with an estimate. It was very fair (less than half of Moses Honda's estimate), and they had availability right away, so I brought my car down to Clark's and left it with them overnight. The next day I called to see how things were going, and they let me know the car was ready to rock. The price was as expected and I was glad to have my Honda back in working shape. I had also had an issue with my starter (had been an issue for several months before), and when I inquired about it, he was happy to give me a price estimate on that too and said I could come back anytime for it.
This was a few weeks ago and my Honda has behaved well so far (if I have the same issue anytime soon, I will update this review). One thing I always struggle with when I move to a new area is finding a reliable and trustworthy auto repair place, especially since I'm no genius when it comes to cars. I'm glad to say Clark's is my go-to place for anything car-related now, and I strongly recommend you give them a chance too.
Overall: 5.0 stars
-----------
Pros:
- Friendly, HONEST staff members. Got back to me quickly with an estimate as well.
- Fair prices with no hidden fees.
- Great availability, took my car the same day I called them.
- Convenient location on 8th avenue, both for Huntington residents and for those in the Barboursville area (like me).
Cons:
- Clark's uses non-OEM parts to keep costs down. It's worth remembering that third party (non-OEM) parts are cheaper than original manufacturer (OEM) parts, though they probably also aren't going to last quite as long or be quite as reliable. If your car is already 15 years old like mine, better to get the cheap stuff; if your car is new, OEM might be worth paying for. read more
